The clandestine efforts of the United States and Britain to cause internal strife in Iran and destroy Iran’s territorial integrity are in reality an invitation for Russian and Chinese SCO peacekeeping troops to come into Iran, a country with observer status, expected to be admitted to the SCO as a full member. The United States should be very careful that any Iranian regime change is of a most peaceful nature which seems next to impossible. Any chaotic elements could bring a substantial involvement of SCO armed forces. This seems a trap for the United States. IMO

The SCO is, generally speaking, bad news for Washington - now more than ever. The organization may induct new members (specifically, Iran) and may accord observer status to Belarus - a decision that brings the SCO to the very frontiers of the European Union and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

Meanwhile, for the first time, SCO member countries' defense ministers were to meet in Beijing this Wednesday. Russia's permanent envoy to the SCO, Grigory Logvinov, said in the Chinese capital on April 18: "The SCO has no intentions of transforming into a military bloc. However, as threats of terrorism, extremism and separatism have increased, substantial involvement of armed forces is necessary for combating them effectively."

"It has become clear that several counter-revolutionary groups in Iraq have been dispatched to Iran from the region where the Americans and the British are deployed," he said on Monday.

Gholamreza Shariati, the deputy provincial governor for security affairs, suggested that the reason for the attacks was the destruction of Iran's territorial integrity and the deterrence of voters from participating in the upcoming presidential elections.
