Old National says goodbye to another vacancy
COLLEGE PARK-
Goodbye Sonic Drive In and Hello Gourmet Chicken Company! The Old National corridor will be the home to the first Metro Atlanta location for the restaurant concept.
The restaurant will be located at 2380 Sheriff Road which intersects with Old National Highway near World Changers International Church. The concept adds to the latest series of development in the southern portion of Old National.
“I am very familiar with the area because my family owned and operated the Popeye’s Chicken on Old National for five years,” James Boyd, CEO of Energy Edge Technologies said. “We were well supported by the College Park community and I look forward to serving my old and new customers.”
The Gourmet Chicken Company is a new fast casual restaurant concept positioned in the ‘Better Chicken’ category. Items on the menu include rotisserie chicken, grilled or fried chicken sandwiches and breast strips all prepared to order. Our gourmet sides include Mac & Cheese topped with smoked bacon bits, Corn Maque Choux-tender kernels of sweet corn cooked with bacon, red and green bell peppers and a hint of garlic; Creole Green Beans with smoked turkey, White Bean Soup and Honey Butter Biscuits.
Given his previous knowledge of the community, Boyd believes his concept will thrive and serve the community well.
“The densely populated Old National corridor has experienced tremendous retail growth recently including the Old National Town Center anchored by Wal-Mart, Kroger, LA Fitness and other retailers,” he explained. “The Old National corridor is a heavily traveled artery with more than 36,000 cars per day.”
At press time, it is unknown how long will it take to convert the former Sonic into the new concept.
