doggie paws can't hold a ruler? -g- time is linear on that chart, days/weeks/centimeters -- it's all the same thing.

larry can correct me if i'm wrong on this, but i'm thinking you should also be able to measure how many "centimeters of time" we spent under the lower StandDev. if that doesn't match the amount of time we spend above it, then the normal distribution assumption needs to be questioned.
