There is always a trend for a given time-frame, so you always have to specify the time-frame you are considering. (Flat is a trend too btw). And I agree that the trend is upward, since the price is at an all-time high and I am a long-term investor who expects continued good news. However, the former is an objective truth, the latter is not. My being an investor is a bias, and a bias is not good in statistics. A stock message board is riddled with biased 'analysis', which renders much of it useless.
The price's recent all-time high is an un-biased fact. And that is the only reason why you and I can reasonably state we are in an uptrend.
