Albert Fried & Company Expands NYSE Floor Presence and OTC Market Making in Bankruptcy Reorgs


NEW YORK, N.Y.- June 1, 2012- Albert Fried & Company, LLC (Member FINRA, NYSE & SIPC) has expanded its trading team with the hiring of Rick Szambel and Benedict P Willis III.
Mr. Szambel has joined the firm as a Senior Managing Director of Distressed/ Special Situation Equities OTC Market Making. Mr. Willis will support Mr. Szambel in this new venture while continuing to act as a Senior NYSE Floor Broker and Media Contact for the firm.

Anthony Katsingris, the firm’s Chief Operating Officer, noted “We are very excited to bring on Rick and Ben to head up this unique floor-based business. Rick is a consummate pro and disciplined expert of his craft and we’re fortunate to partner with him to build out this business. As a long standing Floor Member, Ben will add additional trading expertise to our Floor Brokerage Operation while supporting the firm’s marketing efforts as a media contact. ”

Prior to joining Albert Fried & Company, Rick Szambel traded distressed and bankruptcy reorg equities with Sunrise Securities. He formerly held similar positions at Hudson Securities, Knight Trading Group and MH Myerson. Rick’s expertise is in Bankruptcy Procedural Law. Ben Willis joins Albert Fried & Company from Sunrise Securities where he acted as Director of Floor Operations. Ben started on the American Stock Exchange floor in 1982 and then moved to the New York Stock Exchange in 1985 where he has remained a member ever since. Mr. Willis added “ I’m excited to join Albert Fried & Company’s team. It’s truly a unique firm with the ability to leverage our business.
