Merck KGaA acquires SIAL for $140/sh in cash, a 37% premium to Friday’s closing price:

The deal value is $17B. Together with the Millipore unit Merck acquired for $7.2B in 2010 (#msg-47249493), SIAL will create an imposing life-sciences “tools” business under the Merck KGaA umbrella.
