On the strong chance i am making a seriously erroneous presumption that U.S. intelligence can not be idiot level challenged, i think the U.S. Intelligece most be blowing smoke with their 10 years routine---i feel this could well be intended strategic misinformation. In fact the 10 years is so patently absurd, i think we could well strike this year.
The power central(but not inside the Bush World small circle of friends) cold fish imperialist intellectuals that feel Bush incompetence has forced him to a dilemma where a retreat will develop over the next 18months, and, o my, they will have to wait for a competent,effective imperialist "New Roman Empire" leader to be put in place in 2008, to start it all over again; is ignorance on their part.
They want to undermine Bush to get a competent effective warlord in the seat of POTUS, but fact is, Bush and gang do in fact have the Control Panel for 2.75 years(a lot longer than people think--that is it is plenty of time for the Bush gang to create utterly devastating havoc).
Now a conjecture based on our think tank people near ALWAYS, in their sense of superiority, their sense of being members the Western World "super race", to underestimate their enemy.
I say it is a viable idea that Iran wants to get this confrontation to happen while Bush is POTUS, knowing the U.S. could at this time be dragged into a situation that they are in NOT able to handle.

So as Iran knows better they are very likely aware they would be wise to provoke, provoke, provoke and provoke some more; while Bush is at the controls, as they see his weaknesses quite clearly, and will use them.
Sooner the U.S./Israel attack, the better, i would think Iran thinks, as they know damned well, it will be all the worse for Iran post 2008.
We, the U.S., under the vicious lie of this is for freedom/democracy and the DIVINE SECULAR(they have really raised Secularism to a RELIGION, that should be apparent), have put a gun to the head of all the don't BOW and SCRAPE, that carries the message, join us, or we will destroy you.
Iran is fighting now for their survival, they, as i say, can read the blueprints, thay are there for all that want to see; but when you make a sum of Americans that want this American Empire and Americans, that know nothing, tragically you end up with a definite majority, that in 2008 will re-elect a new Roman Empire friendly("we have the blueprints and we LOVE them!") regime, be it named republican or democrat.
