You don't buy shares from someone who is short. You buy shares from a market maker. He sells you shares. Not someone. There are 55,000 shares in the float at TelVue. There can legally be 55,000 shares short but the short account does not vote. Only the shares in a long account vote. Those who are short don't own shares. They own markers and promise to buy those shares back later at market. That's why it can sometimes be costly to short.
If spelling is your bag that's cool. At my age it's not a priority.
