Shares added 8.82% during yesterday's OTC trading session.
ATWEC Technologies, Inc. (OTC: ATWT) child safety alarm systems, to date, have been installed in pupil transportation vehicles in Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana and Wisconsin. ATWEC's newly announced Security and Alarms Monitoring division has, per acquisition of a Memphis-based Security Monitoring Company, numerous residential accounts in the greater-Memphis area. More information on ATWEC Technologies can be found on the Company's website: www.atwec.com
General Motors Corp. (NYSE: GM) laid off several hundred white-collar workers Tuesday as part of a plan to bring its ailing North American operations back to profitability. It was the first round of salaried cuts this year for the world's largest automaker which is struggling with sluggish sales, shrinking U.S. market share and high health and pension costs that put it at a competitive disadvantage against Asian rivals.
Tuesdays Close: Stocks tumbled Tuesday, with the Dow Jones industrials dropping 95 points after the Federal Reserve disappointed investors by suggesting that more interest rate hikes were on the way. The Fed raised the nation's benchmark interest rate Tuesday as expected, but the surprise for the markets came in an accompanying statement in which the Fed upgraded its view on the economy, suggesting that at least one and possibly even two more rate increases were in the cards. That sent stock prices sharply lower, despite a strong reading on consumer confidence earlier Tuesday that had provided support to the market.
