Good question. There are statutes of limitations on filing a complaint in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia or the US Court of Federal Claims.

US Court of Federal Claims.
28 U.S.C. § 2501: “Every claim of which the United States Court of Federal Claims has jurisdiction shall be barred unless the petition thereon is filed within six years after such claim first accrues.”

DC Code, Chapter 3, Section 12-301(3) and (7)
3 years for damage to personal property and 3 years on breach of contract
