This is very disappointing. I just wrote you an elaborate reply and my browser quit on me. Suffice it to say I agree with you regarding Brokeback Mountain. It is the story of homosexuals forced to live lies under the tyranny of an ignorant, brutal and intolerant society. There was a touch of this in V for Vendetta but not nearly as powerful, for it was only a subplot.

The most breathtaking scene, to me, was when Jake's wife was explaining to Ennis how Jake died. The subtlety of her performance gave us just enough to realize she understood perfectly well how and why her husband was murdered and that she had grasped who Ennis was in all of this. The restraint she exercised made it all the more powerful.

The rest of the vaporized rant was about that student and the college he goes to (a 60's experiment) and what I think of the education he's getting. We can both live without me trying to reconstruct that part.
