Issaquah committee debates ballfield built on private land
ISSAQUAH — A city committee debated yesterday whether to allow Little League practices at a baseball field on private land.
David Kelly built the diamond two years ago on his family's Issaquah horse farm so that his two children's teams could have a place to practice. The field has been empty since last month, when city officials told Kelly he would need several permits before practices could resume.
The committee, made up of some City Council members, suggested that the city offer Kelly a $20 special-events permit to hold practices until the issue is resolved, Kelly said.
But if the permit is offered, Kelly said he would not accept it, on principle.
