I Told You So (Carbon)

The stupid, it burns....

And while making electricity creates 40 percent of the greenhouse gases in the U.S., cutting it as Obama proposes will not come close to meeting the global reduction scientists say is necessary to reverse warming. For one thing, the amount of the U.S. cuts would be replaced more than three times over by projected increases in China alone.

This is, like so many things, a math problem -- and a simple one too.

China is not going to forego economic development, and they know (as we do whether we admit it or not) that behind every increment of GDP is an increment of energy. There is no way around this.

They are going to burn coal and oil-related products. Period.

Even if you believe that CO2 emissions warm the planet (I don't) and even if you believe that this warming, if it occurs, will be catastrophic (I don't) it still doesn't matter whether or not we in the United States (and Europe, if you prefer to include them) stop all CO2 emissions because we are grossly out-represented in the world by China and India and neither of them are going to do what we demand in this regard.

It is particularly stupid to do something that destroys your market competitiveness while you know your competitors will not. In the commercial world this inevitably leads to your bankruptcy.

In the international arena it leads to your nation's decline.

Obama unveiled his "solution" -- evade the fact that Congress has refused to pass a law by defining CO2 as a "pollutant" (really? If so when are you going to be licensed and restricted in your reproduction and life, since you emit it?) and after unlawfully doing so deciding to "mandate" a 30% reduction in emissions ( http://tinyurl.com/m3co5d3 ) -- an act that will cap GDP, not carbon.

Those arguing for these acts need to be charged with charges of intentional violation of their oath of office and removed, then subjected to their own prescription by shunning in the marketplace, finding themselves unable to buy gasoline, natural gas and electricity.

If you want to live in a straw hut be my guest -- where you go too far and into the realm where you must be stopped is when you try to insist that I join you in that mode of living.
