Conflict aside, the Treaty of Lisbon, the latest constitution operable date was only Dec 1 2009 .. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eu_constitution , not even 5 years ago .. lol, if the US 'born' constitutionally in 1789 can be still standing after 225 years (note the EU also has only roughly, 28 to 50, half the number of countries as the United States has states), then seems little real reason why the EU can't survive and prosper .. one difference i guess it could be said the US built it's wealth on a more exploitative base than the EU is doing today .. heh, on present day conflicts they do have personalities as Berlusconi who supports Mussolini's siding with Hitler, and as Germany's Udo Voigt "who has declared Hitler a “great man”", yet nothing compared to the American civil war .. :)
