Amsilk, is suited for bio applications. They dont make continuous fibers in those bacteria vats. If they are selling they are selling to Bio companies, for ECM applications.
Extra cellular matrix (ECM).

Spinning the silk is the most important part for textile applications. Not only do we have the proper cross links in the silk, cause they come out actual spinnerets, but we have actual animals we can gene alter anyway we want, ie drugs in silk. If you look at the silk, under a micro scope, the non spinned silk would not have these cross-links.
We can also weave continuous fibers. Any person can farm silk worms also. You need expensive VATS, to farm bacteria, then you get this miss mash of fiber.

If we really wanted to, we could sell worms. We can sell worms to existing farms, and make them pay KBLB huge licensing fees for it. But, would we want this technology to be so ubiquitous for other militaries to use for Armour is the question.
