Who needs Cornerstone's chain of fees? In the long run (not that ANYONE on IHUB thinks beyond the next trading thrill), most would be FAR better off just buying a quality, low cost index like SPY and doing what you say... selling off profits a bit at a time. Or buying the funds that CFP owns if you prefer more mediocre investments (ha!).
Why do stinky funds like AOD and CFP exist? Because some retires crave the fantasy that they can somehow collect double digit yields in a world where safe divs pretty much end at around 4%.
These funds also exist because brokers find them easy products to sell.
