Speaking of Jacob's Ladder, did you know that's what Route 2 in western Massachusetts was called, years ago? Before the Massachusetts Turnpike, the truck route east from Albany was Route 2 ... a miserable stretch of mountainous, brake-burning, nerve-wracking road.
