It is not suprising the Nexus 7 beats it on battery life and probably performance too. Clovertrail plus is last gen after all.
Why is that not surprising? The new nexus 7 has 2x the pixels on the biggest power hog (the display).
The old nexus 7 still gets 10 hours of battery life with a crappy Tegra-3 on 40nm TSMC with similar display.
Running 'just fine' may be the case. There's plenty of apps that don't need high performance CPUs. It's why people code in Python etc... Instead of C++ etc...
