Scepticisms
I just thought I'd post a few ramblings to justify the userid that I chose for myself (near-randomly). One thing is to point readers to a blog called 'In the Pipeline', written by a guy who is doing chemical research at an unnamed drug company (http://pipeline.corante.com/). I've learned a few things from reading this... about once or twice a year there is something that is peripherally useful to me in my research. And how is it useful to all of you? Well, a few weeks ago he wrote a somewhat disparaging commentary about kinase inhibitors (with a pointer to an article about them which I didn't bother to read), concluding that we don't know enough about the biological pathways of the kinases to make good use of the inhibitors. And this may apply to INSM-18. I'm bringing this up because now and then someone will make some reference to the potential uses of this, and we are way premature in basing anything on it. Iplex has a seriously useful medium-term future and possible riches if it turns out to be useful for diabetes, burns or muscular dystrophy (and these look promising). But I don't think too much credence can yet be placed on INSM-18.
I guess that's enough rambling for today. Best wishes to all.
