I went through the same thing with a biotech few weeks ago. Besides the SPIHF distortions, there are some patterns that I notice with these type of articles as of late:

1) Timing. IMO, The articles were written well in advance and waiting for the green light
2) Use of hyperbole to urge reader to "sell now!"
3) Comments from co-conspirators (IMO) who praise the writer and plant the seeds for reader to sell

These 3 things have helped tell me a fund is looking for an exit.
