SANRAD V-Switch Named Compatible with Xyratex's SATA Storage Systems; Interoperability Provides Cost-Effective and Efficient Data Storage Solutions
Last Update: 8:30 AM ET Mar 7, 2006
SAN FRANCISCO, Mar 07, 2006 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- SANRAD Incorporated, a leader in developing and delivering intelligent iSCSI SAN solutions, today announced that it has successfully completed interoperability testing to ensure that its V-Switch is fully compatible with Xyratex's 4711S (SCSI-to-Serial ATA) and 4711F (Fibre Channel-to-Serial ATA) storage systems, which are well-suited for clustering applications, disk-to-disk backup and value-based network storage arrays.
Xyratex works closely with its customers and partners to test, validate and certify compatibility and interoperability with other storage components including servers, operating systems and applications. The Xyratex Technology Alliance Program was designed to enable our technology partners to easily test compatibility with our products. Thorough testing of the integrated solution assures customers that they will have cost-effective and efficient solutions for the management and administration of data storage that has been fully tested for interoperability and support.
SANRAD's iSCSI V-Switch introduces all-in-one iSCSI storage networking for midrange through enterprise environments, providing full availability and network-based management of an SCSI, FC or iSCSI storage resources across standard Ethernet environments. V-Switches combine a truly interoperable, multiple-port iSCSI gateway with comprehensive storage services for full block-based data access, network volume management, storage continuity and traffic optimization, delivering a new dimension in the availability of vital business information using iSCSI SANs.
The Spokane Public School District is the city's largest employer, encompassing more than 3,000 teachers and overseeing a network of more than 10,000 computers, as well as an extensive Fibre Channel-based storage area network. They needed increased storage capacity on the existing FC SAN, coupled with the related need to significantly reduce the district's total cost of ownership on its SAN infrastructure. Lead network administrator Kevin Mount explained, "We knew we couldn't continue to keep adding server after server to our Fibre Channel SAN. The HBA costs alone were killing us."
With a Xyratex/V-Switch solution, Spokane now enjoys cost savings, flexibility and simplicity delivered by their new and improved tiered storage network. Teachers and administrators have easy access to materials from anywhere in the district. "We are now able to utilize our storage space so much more effectively," boasted Mount, adding, "Network storage costs have sunk to one tenth of what they were prior to the IP SAN implementation."
"Both Xyratex and SANRAD believe in delivering best-in-class solutions that excel in performance, capacity and affordability," said Laura Padilla, SANRAD Strategic Alliance Manager. "By certifying our iSCSI V-Switch with their SCSI and Fibre Channel connect storage systems, we are offering customers a complete, cost-effective solution that is designed for high-performance enterprise computing environments."
"We are pleased to have SANRAD be a part of our Xyratex technology alliance program," said Lisa Hart, Vice President of Marketing for Xyratex. "Our OEM and systems integrator customers are looking forward to providing this fully tested solution to their customers who are looking for affordable, yet highly functional iSCSI storage."
SANRAD believes in developing iSCSI storage solutions that deliver a full complement of enterprise applications, such as open storage pooling, virtualization, local and long distance data replication and disaster recovery services. In addition to delivering interoperable solutions with Xyratex, SANRAD's V-Switch is also compatible with solutions from Brocade, Engenio, HP, IBM, Microsoft and others.
