FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - The University of Michigan's Survey Research Center (UoM) will report its final reading of consumer sentiment for February. The Conference Board confidence measure for February is expected to match some of that preliminary UoM decline.
“The final consensus on February's confidence figure is expected to be little changed from the three-month low 87.4 posted for the preliminary report,” stated Richard Lee, currency analyst at Forex Capital Markets LLC. “Consumers in the world's largest economy have showed their optimism has slipped for two consecutive months in February as colder weather diverted more disposable income and worries over job creation in the coming quarters wears on their high spirits,” he also added.
In January, the index nudged down to 91.2, from 91.5 in December. Gasoline price were blamed for the slight dip in January. According to the University of Michigan, the figures also point to growth in personal spending of 2.75% for the year.
