I’m assuming that QLTI’s PR about the Japanese approval of Visudyne uses the standard definitions of “improved vision” and “stable vision” accepted by the FDA:

Improved vision is defined as a gain of 3 or more lines on the eye chart relative to baseline; and

Stable vision is defined as a gain on the eye chart of less than 3 lines (i.e. not enough to be considered “improved”), no change, or a loss of less than 3 lines relative to baseline.
