Agreed, common sense tells us there are parties interested in the 200 patents owned by 22nd Century to stop the nicotine created in the roots from reaching the leaves of the tobacco plant. Hey, I get it.
However, 50% premium over the current price is unacceptable.
What else can I help you with today?
Your opinion has been duly noted.
Let's focus on what XXII has and not what they might have in the future.

FDA grants approval for 22nd Century to market, sell two styles of very-low-nicotine traditional cigarettes
By Richard Craver Winston-Salem Journal Dec 17, 2019
I like the fact that 22nd Century owns 200 patents that prevents the nicotine created in the roots from reaching the leaves of the tobacco plant.
So, think decaf coffee without losing the taste and aroma as a result of using harsh chemicals to remove the caffeine.
I think those patents and approval of VLN cigarette (Moonlight) has value in excess of current XXII price. If 22nd Century receives approval to put "95% less nicotine" on the label, great....just icing on the cake. JMHO
“Smoking is the number one preventable cause of death in the United States and worldwide,” said Tracy Smith, PhD, assistant professor at the Medical University of South Carolina and Hollings Cancer Center and the lead author on both studies. “The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is considering a policy that would require the nicotine content in cigarettes to be reduced to a minimally addictive level. It is important to understand how such a policy might impact the smoking behaviors of current smokers.”

Who owns this technology of which he speaks? Man, I'd sure like to own stock in that company. Oh wait.....
I was referring to Michael Zercher

Created global strategies and managed relationships with parent and sister companies. Oversaw marketing, sales and distribution partnerships in 10+ countries as well as contract manufacturing, global logistics, accounting, legal, regulatory, IT and HR.
I doubt they need any help with "a marketing strategy" since Michael J. Zercher is President & Chief Operating Officer.
https://www.xxiicentury.com/about/management-team
I suggest you read the Press Release below on Zercher's past success in a similar role with American Spirit and his range of duties at 22nd Century.
https://www.marketwatch.com/press-release/22nd-century-group-appoints-michael-j-zercher-as-chief-operating-officer-2019-06-14
From 2003 until 2009, Mr. Zercher served as Vice President and Managing Director of Santa Fe Natural Tobacco Company’s (SFNTC) international business, a subsidiary of Reynolds American, Inc. and the corporate home of the Natural American Spirit tobacco brand. Under his leadership, Natural American Spirit’s annual revenue outside the U.S. grew from $8 Million to more than $100 Million while achieving double-digit profit growth each year, despite declining global industry sales. Mr. Zercher led the business unit’s aggressive expansion into more than twelve countries by making strategic acquisitions, developing key partnerships, building highly successful teams, and executing effective marketing and sales plans. The Natural American Spirit international business was eventually sold to Japan Tobacco Inc. for $5 Billion.
KEEP IN MIND, 22nd Century owns 200 worldwide patents on technology that stops the nicotine created in the roots from reaching the leaves of the tobacco plant.
Good luck to you Giovanni.
Did you finally sell your shares or in it to Win It Big League Baby?
Great question 2014shelby! And, if the comment is accurate, in what context was it made? In other words, how about a link to the entire conversation so the reader can determine "the rest of the story" as Paul Harvey used to say.
Based on past posts by this member, I doubt they are interested in providing the entire statement.
We'll see.
"Seriously what are they going to do." Again, sorry but I don't give investment advice. For what it's worth, I'm done buying now...just holding for long term which is typically 3-5 years for me.
Why? I believe nicotine is addictive and XXII has 200 patents on technology that blocks the nicotine created in the roots from reaching the leaves of the tobacco plant.
This is even better than decaf coffee where they use dangerous chemicals to remove the caffeine from the coffee bean. This leaves the coffee with low aroma and effects the taste in a negative way too.
1% of the market makes XXII price much higher than it is now. I believe that can be achieved. Time will tell.
I wish you all the best in whatever you decide to do.
"Where do you think this will go in the next 30-60 days"
Sorry, I'm a long term investor and not a trader so I never try to predict short term moves for stocks.
Good luck to you though.
I just explained how Digital Marketing works in 2020 and you insist on sticking by your Analog (old school) model, which is fine.
Social Media is all about "sharing" information and ideas with your network of friends, family and contacts.
I own XXII at lower prices, current price and higher prices as I've been accumulating for the past 3 years.
I truly believe XXII will achieve 1% of the market from basically word-of-mouth advertising alone.
Example of a Social Media post. Note: This is first draft, it could be shorter and better but you get the idea of it's powerful impact.
*********BREAKING NEWS: If you or someone you care about is a smoker, read and share this encouraging news. My sister has Kicked Her 30 Year nicotine habit and can now taste food again! We've all lost a family member or friend to smoking. Let's all do our part in getting the message out. Pass it on guys!" Here's a link to their website (or video if available and allowed)

Based on your last post, we aren't that far apart. Sure, it would be great if 22nd Century received permission to put 95% less nicotine on their labels but think about the reality of it all.
Question: How does adding text about "95% less nicotine" help when cigarettes are kept several feet away from the public and sometimes out of their view?
However, I do see smokers who hear about Moonlight or VLN from others asking their local merchants to carry them when available.
Real Life Example:
My Mom tried to quit smoking right up until it took her life. I was with her at the doctor's office when he told her to quit smoking or die early. She tried gum, patches, hypnosis but the addiction to nicotine was too strong. The same thing goes for my sister.
My sister is waiting to try either Moonlight or VLN (if/when approved). She's one of those Facebook types with a Huge following.
This is what I know.
If my sister is able to quit (or reduce) her disgusting smoking habit using 22nd Century cigarettes, thousands of smokers will get the message within days....that's how fast this type of news travels through the cloud.
The Cinical Studies are encouraging to her and she is ready to give the a try for herself, husband, children and grand children.
There are literally Hundreds of Thousands of "sisters, brothers, father, mothers" etc that will be hearing the great news soon.
I plan on doing my part to inform thousands of my online contacts get the Moonlight/VLN message as soon was 22nd Century gives us the green light.
22nd Century received approval of Moonlight on Dec 17, 2019 or about TWO MONTHS ago.
So, are you sure BT is holding this down? If so, how did they manage to receive this approval?
I hear you but not sure we are both on the same page here. What am I missing?
Well,since they just received autorization from FDA on Moonlight on Dec. 17, 2019, I am willing to wait a few quarters for actual sales.
FDA Authorizes Marketing of 22nd Century Group's Proprietary Moonlight And Moonlight Menthol Cigarettes

I totally disagree with you (which is fine).
"The MRTP is the “marketing label” which will distinguish this product from the rest of the product on the shelves and which will eventually propel its success."
This product doesn't need to "distinguish" itself from the rest of the products on the shelf, IMO.
The results from using this product will move Digitally by itself.
22nd Century owns 200 patents on a product that can literally save hundreds of thousands of lives. And, based on actual Clinical Studies, we just need a few hundred "testimonials of users who quit" in order for the word to spread.
Think (vs over-thinking) Digital (public sharing via Social Meda), not Analog (shelf space)
By the way, how did you hear about Google or Amazon? Did you see an ad or did a friend share THEIR RESULTS online?
Plus, I am a Dollar Shave Club customer, a company that Unilever paid $1Billion to own. How did I hear about them? A LinkedIn friend shared a video posted by one of their friends. By the way, that video went on to receive 26 Million views......AT NO COST TO THEM, BTW.
I'm not even concerned with MRTP since Moonlight has already been approved for sale. We just need a few hundred users who kick (or greatly reduce) their dependence of nicotine laced cigarettes so the viral effect can spread the word.
Or, there's still a strong possibility of a major partnership who already has distribution in place.
Whether it's Moonlight or VLN, Low Nicotine Cigarettes give consumers "choice" and the Clinical Studies already show the results.
Just a matter of time....
Wow! Great points there brooklyn13!

Hey, how about some details! :)
https://www.xxiicentury.com/products/vln
22nd Century owns patents on technology that blocks the nicotine created in the roots from moving up to the leaves of the tobacco plant.
OK Gio. You ready to take a position in THAT company yet?
Or, did you buy at $4.42 and are now just ticked off due to your losses?
Wrong! 200 patents. Try again.
Good luck with that. :)
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-22nd-century-nicotine/tiny-biotech-firm-offers-big-tobacco-model-to-curb-its-nicotine-habit-idUSKBN1AN1VX
The plant biotechnology company says it has more than 200 patents that give it the ability to increase or decrease the level of nicotine in tobacco plants, as well as the level of cannabinoids in cannabis plants.
“We genetically modify the tobacco. We’ve been working on this for 20 years,” Henry Sicignano, chief executive of 22nd Century, told Reuters.
Besides, Big Tobacco is on record and under oath saying it would take them 20 years to do what 22nd Century has ALREADY done. So, there's that...
This topic was discussed at length on Stocktwits today. Check it out.
"Why would XXII want to work with anyone" you ask?
Reduce cost and time of Customer Acquisition by partnering with tobacco industry merchants/vendors who have established distribution and relationships with local merchants/stores?
But hey, what do I know?
Why would XXII want to work with PM?
...and up .25 from Monday lows. See how that works?
An even better response to your question from Page 6 of the 22nd Century
document to the FDA.
Claim substantiation
FDA’s preliminary scientific review of the application found that the threeproposed claims are substantiated: there is about a 95% reduction in
nicotine in the tobacco itself, the smoke it yields, and the nicotine that is absorbed when the product is smoked exclusively. When the product is
dual used with normal nicotine content cigarettes, nicotine exposure is
still significantly reduced. In studies of smokers who do not intend to
quit, compared to smokers assigned to a control condition where they continue smoking usual brand cigarettes, smokers assigned to use the
product reduce total number of cigarettes per day (CPD) by about 30% at 6
weeks and 50% at 20 weeks.
The FDA will approve this application because of the need to provide "choice" for those addicted to nicotine. It's time!

Well, they are wrong. Stocktwits covered them in detail. They have their agenda of which the FDA is already aware. The fact remains 22nd Century has actual Clinical Studies which prove the benefits of VLN cigarettes to those addicted to nicotine.
Here are a few highlights:
{Participants who were assigned VLNC cigarettes smoked fewer cigarettes per day (14.9) than those assigned to their usual brand (22.2)}
and
{Use of VLNC cigarettes decreased daily consumption, as well as nicotine and toxicant exposure, relative to use of moderate nicotine content cigarettes}
and
{There were higher rates of abstinence when smoking VLNC cigarettes compared with the normal nicotine condition}
and
{The offer of, and instructions to use, reduced nicotine content cigarettes over an 8 week period led to greater reductions in smoking rates}
Any questions?
Well, except for the fact that tests show a reduction in number of cigarettes smoked by the majority of smokers using VLN.
{Participants who were assigned VLNC cigarettes smoked fewer cigarettes per day (14.9) than those assigned to their usual brand (22.2)}
and
{Use of VLNC cigarettes decreased daily consumption, as well as nicotine and toxicant exposure, relative to use of moderate nicotine content cigarettes}
and
{There were higher rates of abstinence when smoking VLNC cigarettes compared with the normal nicotine condition}
and
{The offer of, and instructions to use, reduced nicotine content cigarettes over an 8?week period led to greater reductions in smoking rates}
And, if you read the test results, their is a reduction in some of the harmful chemicals with VLN compared to regular cigarettes.
Thanks for the in depth articulate response Gio. You never disappoint! :)
50/50 chance either way. Flip a coin.
It's all good Brooklyn. All the best to you as well!
I'm not here to have my ego stroked and will admit to owning a ton of XXII with no plans of selling anytime soon. With that said, I will respond by asking you a question.
How come almost all of the major institutions were buying as XXII was dropping from $3.85 to low $1.00 range?
In my opinion, they know retailers move in and out of stocks in groups and almost always based on greed and fear.
Few retailers actually sell on "move ups" out of greed but almost ALL of them sell on "down moves" out of fear of loss.
So, if you're an institution that wants to take a fairly large position of 1 million or more shares, how do you get those shares?
Do you buy up the ASKS or hit the bids until the market makers get out of your way which then triggers the stop-losses and retailers then panic? Tutes have their bags open down below and load up which allows them to control the stock from that point forward.
Just look at how they played the retailer investors on TSLA, even Amazon back in the day.
Each stock "sold off" big time right before the extended rise.
I see a lot of posts about the "shorts" causing the price to drop. I think it was the result of Long Term Institutions who were actually buying....and still buying.
But then again, I could be wrong. :)
Why would I think you were "new" here?

My point was in reference to being a "Long Term Investor" vs someone trying to pick short term moves of a bio stock. I buy the VLN concept and benefits to tens of millions who have literally tried everything to kick the disgustingly nasty habit.

Comments like this from Doctors who treat patients who have suffered from the addiction to nicotine that 22nd Century's products address is just one of many reasons why I am a LONG TERM INVESTOR in XXII.
Good luck with your investing either way.
Welcome to the XXII Club of Long Term Investors who believe in the Company, Products and benefit to society. Hey, welcome even if you are here for just the money. :)
Great point Atlanta! Plus, based on the FDA's own research, 22nd Century's products have been shown to help smokers who are addicted to nicotine kick the habit and/or reduce the number of cigarettes they smoke daily.
How many Grandmothers who used Moonlight to quit (or reduce) her nasty, disgusting and unhealthy nicotine habit from sharing on Facebook and other social media channels her excitement with others? If she has a Grandchild who is also addicted to nicotine, you could image that child also sharing with her contacts on social media.
Once that happens 3-4 levels deep, viola'....geometric or viral marketing occurs.
22nd Century could also produce a short "approved" educational video about the VLN process for others to share. This shouldn't fall under the advertising rule for cigarettes if done properly with FDA approved guidelines.
Example of a typical Facebook post: "Hey y'all! Here's a photo of my Grandma. I love my Grandma. Well, Notice anything missing from this picture? NO CIGARETTE!!!
She's so excited and so am I! Check out her comments. She used a new Low Nicotine Cigarette called Moonlight to finally kick the habit after 30 years. I'm buying a pack later today at "smart local retailer" I'll let
you guys know how it goes for me. Feel free to pass on this information to anyone you know who is also addicted to this nasty disgusting nicotine habit!"
The FDA might not let companies advertise on TV, print media or radio but there is no restriction on the end user sharing "results" of any product or service.
This is just one of dozens of examples on how the word will spread once the product is available to the general public.
I truly believe marketing this one-of-a-kind cancer killer will be a matter of exposure because the need and demand is there. Well, unless people actually enjoy seeing their loved ones die from smoking cigarettes.
We ALL have 100% of our life left. What do we want to do with it? Moonlight helps kick the nicotine habit and add quality to the life you live.
Again, you are still struggling with analog vs digital marketing, which is fine.
Digital marketing is how our company grew faster than 95% of other companies in our industry over the past 10 years.
OK. You win. You are too smart for me Brooklyn. I defer to you on this one. :)
"If you Build it, he will come"
Think digital marketing vs analog (old school). I'm thinking marketing is not your strong suit.
I'll leave you with this seldom used but power method of launching a new product or service: "vacuum marketing"
I'd be happy to get into this topic in greater detail after 22nd Century receives approval on their MRTP application.
Good luck!
