Interview with former HC 15 year employee, now consultant
James West: Okay so, are you aware of how many licenses [applications] are in progress right now, how many licenses have been rejected completely, and what roughly is the rate per week or per month that new applications are materializing at Health Canada?
Ivan Ross Vrána: Well I can’t speak on that with any authority because I’m not working there. I mean the only information I have is what has been in the government’s affidavits regarding the federal injunction, and they’re saying there are roughly, as of February, they were receiving something like 25 applicants per week. And that as of today, if you go on their website, there are 13 companies approved, but out of that I think as per their affidavit again, they had something like 27 applicants who had ‘ready to build’ letters. And that’s about as much information as I have.
James West: So a ‘ready to build’ letter is basically a first pass authorization from Health Canada that you’ve done everything okay up to this point, and so as long as what you build passes muster with us, you’re going to get your license. Is that accurate?
Ivan Ross Vrána: Yeah. You’re on a very good path if you get the ‘ready to build’ letter. They’re recognizing that you can make the investment now, right?
James West: So then is it safe to say that a ‘ready to built’ letter is a pre-requisite, is a signal that you are in a sort of ‘poll position’ to get one of the commercial growing licenses?
Ivan Ross Vrána: Yes. I think so. Yes.

Anybody can say what they want about FITX, CEN Biotech. It will never make a difference to the long stocks I am holding. No matter what anyone says about Bill, he is a die hard career orientated person and he's got the right product and he's running with it. I'm here to stay. I've been in his shoes with HUD, made money had over fist because I understood how to make the money, hard work. While other PP contractors were making. $40,000., I make double that amount and more. Bills putting in his time. It will happen.

Medical marijuana research for vets halted – seattlepi.com
Posted on July 19, 2014 by • 0 Comments
TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — The firing of a University of Arizona faculty member has halted the research of medical marijuana as a treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder.
Dr. Suzanne Sisley was set to begin the only federally-approved research into cannabis as treatment for military veterans who suffer from PTSD.
Sisley was let go from the university last month. She is appealing the decision.
Medical marijuana advocates say her firing means much-needed research is being put on hold.

WARNING LETTER NO. 2014-NOL-13
UNITED PARCEL SERVICE
DELIVERY SIGNATURE REQUESTED
Marco Moran, President
Dewmar International BMC, Inc.
101 Convention Center Drive, Suite 700
Las Vegas, Nevada 89109
Dear Mr. Moran:
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has reviewed the regulatory status of the ingredients declared on the label of your beverage products, Lean Slow Motion…Potion (Easta Pink, Purp, and Yella varieties) and has determined your products are adulterated under Section 402(a)(2)(C) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (the Act) [21 United States Code (USC) 342(a)(2)(C)] because they bear or contain an unsafe food additive. Specifically, the products contain melatonin (5-methoxy-N-acetyltryptamine, CAS Reg. No. 73-31-4), which is a neurohormone and is an unapproved food additive under Section 409 of the Act [21 USC 348]. The regulations pertaining to the general provisions for food additives are located in Title 21, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 170 (21 CFR 170).
Additionally, based on our review of your product labels, your Lean Slow Motion…Potion (Easta Pink, Purp, and Yella) products are misbranded within the meaning of Section 403 of the Act [21 USC 343]. You may find the Act and FDA regulations through links at FDA’s Internet home page at www.fda.gov.
Your Lean Slow Motion…Potion (Easta Pink, Purp, and Yella) products are represented for use as conventional foods, and accordingly are not dietary supplements, as defined under Section 201(ff) of the Act [21 USC 321(ff)]. The Act excludes from the definition of a dietary supplement a product represented for use as a conventional food or as a sole item of a meal or the diet [21 USC 321(ff)(2)(B)]. Your use of the term “dietary supplement” below the Nutrition Facts panel on your product labels does not make your products dietary supplements, because your Lean Slow Motion…Potion products are represented for use as conventional foods. Examples of factors and information that establish that the products are represented for use as conventional foods are as follows:
Your products are described as beverages on the information panels of the cans.
The “Products” page on your website describes your Yella product as for people who like “pineapple-based Fanta” carbonated soft drink, your Purp product as for people who “like it raw mixed with Sprite” carbonated soft drink and your Easta Pink product as inspired by “Sprite Easta Pink.”
The homepage of your website, www.slowmotionpotion.com, refers to your line of products as, “#1 relaxation beverage” and “the most potent relaxation drink.”
The “Products” page on your website describes the flavor of your Yella product as having a “hint of red Jolly Rancher flavor” and “unique flavor combination that is ranked number 1 in blind taste tests.” The page describes the flavor of your Purp product as including “grape Jolly Rancher candy.” The page describes the flavor of your Easta Pink product as “a secret flavor combination” that “creates the sweetest of the Leans.”
SO SHOOT ME!
Below is a list of about 40 ‘prospective LP’s’. These include both companies seeking to enter, and those already somewhere along in the long and complicated process off seeking Licensed Producer (LP) status form Health Canada under the MMPR (Marijuana for Medical Purposes Regulations). One marker is yellow, to denote this is not a producer for patients, but a ‘genetic clone-bank’ who will grow specific strains for LP’s. If you click on each individual icon, company information is available.
This list is not meant to be all-inclusive. According to Health Canada, there are hundreds of other applicants somewhere in the process. In addition, all locations are approximate, generally based on company addresses. Not all listed addresses are the actual locations of proposed production sites, some are corporate offices. To the best of our ability, we have tried to list the production site when that information is available. This information will be updated as new data becomes available.
Icon location on the map is also approximate so as to accommodate spacing and readability. For example, Alternabis has only listed their location as “BC”, so their icon is in the middle of the Province. Dyma are not necessarily in Hanover, Ont, but list their offices as Toronto. To avoid putting too many close together, we have spread them through the region. Still, we hope this will give the reader a basic idea of where most companies are located.
If you know of one we missed, or one we got wrong, don’t hesitate to send us a message, or comment here. Thanks!

I use to live in a small southern town with a railroad right through the middle. The monster company Catapillar wanted to build a factory there, bring in jobs, revenue, more business, the works. The town council turned them down. The reason, the existing businesses would have to end up paying their workers more if they had a new factory. So the Town Fathers, made the decision not to and the town hardly exist now. You never know what is on the minds of a town council. That is their town, they have lived there for ever. Just give it some time maybe this town will come around' soon.
Please, Do.

CTV NEWS
Some communities, such as the B.C. cities of Abbotsford and Langley, have moved to ban medical marijuana production altogether.
In Lakeshore, Ont., a town of about 40,000 people just outside Windsor, municipal officials actively sought out a medical marijuana producer after Health Canada announced the new rules.
They found CEN Biotech, a Michigan-based company that is now building a $12-million facility on a four-hectare lot a stone's throw from the town's Ontario Provincial Police station.
Mayor Tom Bain said the response from his fellow councillors and residents has been mostly positive, thanks to the promise of tax revenues and jobs in a community whose fortunes have long depended on the turbulent auto industry.
"It's going to be limited to medical marijuana and it's not going to be anything else, so with those regulations in place and with such a strong geographical location next to the police department, we felt we were ready to go ahead with it," says Bain.

This article appeared January 2014
Peace Naturals CEO Mark Gobuty told Toronto’s Vapor Central that his company has signed on just over 300 patients, while CanniMed said in a release that it’s helped a “handful of patients” so far.
The numbers seem to confirm that, for many patients, switching to a commercial producer is out of the question. So much so, that a large group, organized by The MMAR Coalition Against Repeal, is preparing to fight the changes in court.
With the first hearing expected by February, a Constitutional Challenge launched on behalf of all Canadian patients could prevent the ban on home grows from happening.
If not, some say current prices may force patients back on pharmaceuticals, or to the black market instead.
