Hi Kenny, the patch that Myst provided last Oct or Nov works pretty well. I had difficulty getting it started at first, but I have it working on both my computers now. As long as you load it on the same computer that you were using x_dev on previously it will work. I had to clean x_dev off one machine using the add/remove programs in the control panel, then down load x_dev afresh followed by the patch and my registration code. Took me several times to get it right. So don't give up, it does work.
Roy
Myst,
Does x_dev run on the new Apple machines? These windows computers seem to have a short life.
Well, I survived, sort of, I got ejected from surgery 4 minutes before I was to enter the surgery room because of a viralent skin infection that the doc thought life threatening if it got into the spinal canal etc. Anyway, I am alive and off to the dermatologist. I survived 4 major surgery in the last 5 years and nobody notice the resistant staff infection then or mentioned the high risk. Enough nonsense of health.
The what if button? Is it recording after close of market trades also and projecting into the morrow, or what. I cannot recall how it all sorted out for that calc. I remember when we and why we dicussed its future value and I remember using, but I do not recall it collecting after market trades. Do we have a good and current knowledge base as to its function, as it seems to be including and projecting. It appears what if this, then this will occur, but is it using after market data also?
I assume everyone has this working as the solution was staring me in the face. It is up and an working as directed by Myst. Anyway, I won't have to fuss about it while I am away and I hope you all got the help Myst usually offers. A little prodding helps.
The program sort of worked on my wife's laptop when I first downloaded the patch, however today when I turned the laptop on I turn xdev on using its symbol next to to the start button lower side. It came up but I coud not access my files, but it worked when I entered the stock manually. I then closed it, went to other matters. I came back later and opened the xdev from the shortcut on the screen, it failed, same old problem. Right now I think I downloaded the patch before I had uninstalled the program. I really don't have it working right now. The problem is more severe on my desktop where I get nothing at all. I am having surgery Oct 1, so I wiil be out of it for 3-6 weeks. Stocks are the least of my concerns and here I am thinking about whether xdev will function again. Good luck in getting xdev running. I think I have handled Russ's patch etc very poorly. Anyway I will look at it in spare time this last week and if I can't get it going by Oct 1. You may not get messages from me at this site. Just keep working with Myst, I think his intentions are very good, I look back the last ten years or so and he has managed to walk me through several restart. I got a guidance from myst on Sept 25, but my mind is all bosched up with drugs and testing this last few days, so I think I screwed up my last attempt to recover xdev.
Cheers Guys

Greetings,
I have down loaded the update on my wife's computer, as her's was the last computer that was still able to run x_dev, it seemed to work, but I was not able to find my files. Am I correct in thinking that I should go to the control panel's Add & Remove Programs and then delete X_Dev and do a fresh download with this this x_dev solution you put on this site?
I have tried this deletion method on my office computer but x_dev does not recognize my reg code from 9/25/2006. So if you can send a new reg code it might help.
Thanks

Hi Bycullia
I did not keep much in the way of records, but I found the X_Dev very accurate during relative normal trading periods and it could inidicate the possiblity of major swings. I remember the curves suggest an extreme deep drop potentialin Home Depot, I did not believe the projection so I adjust the time frame downward and crimped ing the curves based on looking for a break in the stats that generated a tighter less extreme cuvre reflecting what I thought was a normal patern, bought Home Depot on a significant dip and buy call by X_dev. I few days later the price of Home Depot took a nose dive the extgreme lows that X_dev had indicated onthe earlier curves that I had rejected as unresonable. So I learned my lesson and started paying attention to x_dev curves based on longer time frames. I recognize your desire revive x_dev. but either Yong or Myst have gotten tiree of the venture.
I am sure Yong is aware of this site and our concerns. But we have gotten no further response from either and it seems you and I are the only interested persons and that is not much insentive!
I went to the Stockwerld.com site, I think it is now just an add site or conduit to other market services. I found nothing new to suggest that Myst or anyone else were contributing. X_Dev is still for sale at $168, can you imagine the disappointment the buyers will have when they attempt to use it.
Roy
Win was the last time youtried to contact myst at this site or Stockwerld.com?
Ah, Lots of postulations! I remember Yong as Chinese (un-important fact or fiction) and as you say I do not believe he ever posted to public sites on X_Dev. He was always in the background, exception being when specific problems arose and he contacted me directly or visa versa. I lost all my email contacts after a massive failure of my computer system in my whole house-hold last October. I was lucky to recover a couple of my machines, but lost all data and one X_dev program (another irrrelvent piece of info), but I had not been talking much to Yong in the last few years as my health situation was deteriorating at a fast clip and took priority over everything, including income. It was a nice nose dive to a good recovery, a micron above impact. So here I am talking to you about recovery of x_dev. A breath of fresh air.
Yong, I hope he is doing well, I worked for seven years in the military industrial hub of San Diego and would not wish it on anyone. I escaped to Colorado. I don't think he was making much from X_dev and without user fees of some sort I do not think we can expect this site to go on unmanaged for ever. I have time and could manage this site, but we need to have a enough cash flow to offset data feed charges and find a good web master/hacker, I have always preferred hacking but I think it is harder now days.
I really doubt the x_dev is still selling.
It is disturbing st see the end of such a fine little program that gives the ordinary bloke a handle on the market, except for spikes up or down, at which point you need to reference the manual, if it still exists. Candle sticks also are important here, but it appears to be dead and unless you or I get some feed back from Myst et al we have no options.
Good commuicating with you, but I am sure you can tell I am of no help, just frustrated, like you, by it all.
Cheers

In discussions with Song over the years it is clear that he clearly understands the program and how to best use it, but at the time he had just moved to San Diego, starting a new high pressure job and a young family simultaneously. None the less he was very helpful, but he said he was not into trading and did not use the program. That was years ago. Myst certainly used it and provide excellent guidance on its use and stock plays. Also, one user developed an excellent manual that you could down load free. So why is it so difficult? I am not sure, I don't think Russell is that old, but none of us know him personally, not even Song Yong, nor do we know Song, it all a bit of a digital mist.
When did you sign up, it would seem strange to be selling licsences without a viable program. Here! try Russell at this address ralis24@roadrunner.com, it is the one he has contacted me on most recently, he seemed positive and Yong had gotten all but the link to a data feed solved. Also, as you will not development stopped several years ago.
Let us know if you get a response,
Cheers

True it would be nice to have it a little more open as a program, but I also am old and fiddling with a program is not my cup of tea. If anyone is analogue it is I, so we need to have a web master who finacially benefits from keeping this program attached to a data feed. The mathematics appear sound, I once had a copy of the paper the program was based on, the problem remains the feed.
I don't think it takes all that much time, but Yong has a young growing family, a fulltime job and appears dis-interested. So I recently sent a an email too Russel regarding the aformentioned and hope to hear back soon, but as you know when a person has too many email addresses it is hard to keep up. We can try to communicate and that is about all.
Does anyone know if Stockwerld is still functioning? And whether or not it is providing an access to x_dev to is users?
Roy
I do not feel ripped off, Russel put to gether an excellent program based another's mathmatical anlysis of the marke. He then offered a license for this program at about $120 for each computer. I bought two licenses and used them to support myself through some ten years of difficult medical problems that forced me into disability. Was it not for his good will and work along with Song and probably others I would have ended up in a real mess. I payed no additional fees for X_Dev and it worked wonderfully for almost ten years. That was a real deal. Do I miss the program yes, do I feel ripped off? No. I learned a lot and I thank him, I think what he needs is a web master to help keep it running. But he has not mentioned it lately, so I don't know for sure. In the stock market we all know one thing for sure, all good things come to an end whether you buy in early or late!
Lets hope!
Cheers
Roy
I agree, but there may not be much incentive and the task of logging onto a free data feed has to be getting very difficult these days. When I was young I worked with a bunch of hackers, back when the internet was the sole property of the government, namely the military. It was complicated work then and the government was always devising new means of blocking hackers to there computer. We needed access to do their projects and at times other runs for other clients. I am sure it is a lot more difficult to get free access to super computers or just feeds these days. When I first joined X_dev we had three separate feeds, then two and finally one. WE had a choice of data sources. Seems to me we need to get this system on a firmer foundation, no matter how good it is, its of little value on a discontinuous basis. I had another free source that tapped right into my Fidelity feed. Ran beautifully, but I prefered X_dev.
We will just have to keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best.
In the mean time BP failed to hit my lower target and I ended up with 900 shares at 44.87, hope it does not staul out here and drop back to my earlier target of 39.50!
Anyone heard from Myst yet regarding the fix?
You are right that X_dev is great on the long time lines. If we tire of rapid trades and look at the long term patterns a lot of money is to be made with out sitting with our noses glued to the screen. I combine X_dev with what I have learned from Martin Pringle and candle stick. I am too old and tire to be stairing at the computer. But of all the methods X_dev reveals the mostto me, I can't speak for others.
Maybe we need a small annual fee to cover Yong Song's time and effort. He has a young family and a full time job in San Diego last time we communicated. I have been in and out of the hospital for surgeries and laid up for several years and my computer died in the interval(last Novermber), so all contact is lost and severed. But I am back now and I love X_dev, it a powerful tool. It was still running on my wife's computer up to a few weeks ago. Then reg code 13 appeared......you know the rest of the story.
Keep communcating with Myst, that is all you do. right now.
Despite the failure of x_dev and the error code 13 issue the market continues on, right now BP is not only slipping in its own oil spill it is to some degree dragging down the oil industry. I see good resistance for BP at about 44 and it may slip further if downward volume continues to gain momentum to 40. These momentum could force it even lower, I am set to enter at 39.50$. This spill will pass and a rebound to 64 is very possible. Also, 6% dividend helps bouy the stock back up.
I got a message from Myst as follows:
Hi Roy,
Yes, I finally got a hold of Yong and we are currently working on a fix. So all hope is not lost. So far he has everything working but the MRI and What if functions. I’ll let everyone know when we’ve got it all fixed. Sorry for the delay.
Myst
So folks keep yourselves in good spirits as it appears a real fix is in the works. However, I have to get the x_dev programs to come up, they have rejected the reg code after a forced reformat last fall. Anyone else having trouble with their reg code?
Cheers

Greetings again. It is strange how inactive this site gets for long periods and then up pops a herd of us with similar problems. WF's idea of going back to ealier events and my queries at the time seemed unfruitful, but after going out and cutting the lawn the fog cleared. Really cleared, I have not done much this year, as an unwelcome alternative to trading I have had several long years of medical treatments, anyway I am back and much poorer for the journey. Yes the fog has clean, we may be disconnected from the data feed (I think it was Yahoo). Yong Song has always come to the rescue. I have not talked to Yong Song in several years as I lost all my addresses in a computer failer in 11/09. That raises another the question, did Myst ever get his Web Master?

That was a good idea, however I did not find a solution in the old replies. Did you find one? Also, I am having a difficult time getting x_dev to donwload the program on my main computer since it last crashed and had to be reformatted. Any good ideas on how to manage this problem? A workimg reg code might help.
Hi,
Both of my Xdev sites are now no longer functional. My x_dev site on our laptop now issues an Error Code 13. Does any one else get this, I have not seen it for years and can no longer remember its meaning. Also, any contact with Myst? I have tried every site, no response and I think Yong Song is no longer involved.
Did you ever get any help? Ihave not been able to contact Myst for 50days+
I don't think it is dead, I suspect he is engrossed in writing his book. Such things are demanding to say the least. The program still works well. I wonder if Yong Song is still doing the software maintenance part of the x_dev.
Hi, Myst, I have version 3.5.8 on two computers and on both the whatif function is inoperative, what do I need to do to restore the function.
Thanks
Roy
Myst, I restored my computer back to a date I know that it was working as I use it every trading day, still is unable to access data after 12/29/06, same is true of xdev on my laptop.
So both programs are stopped. Say hello to Yong.
Thanks
Myst, I am getting same screen as stra10, it started about 10am today
Hi, I may have just mistakenly sent a post to you that was ment for the general group. No offense intended. I am very please to have this service up and running. Also, I have an older version licensed on a separate computer and it did not suffer any problems regarding collecting and displaying quotes except for the what-if was not automatic. I keep it this way as the evolution of the program sometimes hits a few road bumps on the leading edge of development. But I do think Yong and Must have done a remarkable service over the years. And they are very responive.
Given the low entry cost of xdev and remarkable usefulness over all, the temporary hand entry of values into the whatif function services well. I have been doing it since the function quit being automatic, a tad inconvient, but it still does the job. I am glad to see xdev 98% functional, lets give Myst and Yong an applause and hope that in their spare time the What-if funtion gets up and running properly.
RLF
Myst, last three days I have been getting error code 13 messages indicating a type mismatch, I run xdev on two separate computers, the newest version of xdev has the more frequent error codes. In September you sent the 3.5.8 release to me which I am currently using on one machine. I think it is a data source problem. Any suggestions other than hold tight. I reallly appreciate this program.
After 3 years of smooth running my Windows/msn had to be re-installed, as a result XDEV will not initiate, nor will it allow me to enter my reg key code, what is my solution?
