What kind of nonsense is that?
I guess you would have to go back to the beginning of this thread.

And then there is this......
A key part of the prosecution's case against the former president rests on whether Trump was well aware he had lost the 2020 election, but carried on with a criminal and fraudulent plot to overturn the results regardless.

So yes, my comments were based on comments by Trump's lawyer. Not saying they will stand up in court, just commenting on what was said and responding to blackhawks comment about Jack's ability to prove what Trump believed at the time.
Did you see anyone losing their shit over the ruby red Florida district for the stolen documents case, crying that he couldn't get a fair trial with an incompetent judge who already compromised herself earlier in the case?
Oh there were some critics of the judge.
The calls to step aside came almost immediately after U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon was randomly assigned the historic criminal case charging former president Donald Trump with hiding classified documents at Mar-a-Lago.

Migrants in cages are back under Biden amid border surge. This time, in the sweltering Arizona heat.
As BizPac Review reported in May 2018, Democrats lost their liberal minds and blasted then-President Donald Trump after photos of migrant children locked in “cages” circled the internet, It turned out the images were from a 2014 surge of Central American immigrants illegally crossing the U.S. border during the Obama administration.
According to DailyMail.com, “New Customs and Border Protection data reveal that July brought a jump in illegal crossings of more than 30 percent, reversing a decline since President Joe Biden overhauled immigration regulations.”
“C.B.P. recorded more than 130,000 arrests along border compared with 99,545 in June, according to a source close to Border Patrol,” the outlet continues. “The spike is greatest in southern Arizona in the region around Ajo. The Tucson sector recorded 40,000 arrests last month, making it the highest monthly total in 15 years.”
Meanwhile, the federal government has sent $130 million to New York to help the state cope with its migrant crisis — a fact that made Independent Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema furious.

The jury will be asked what would a reasonable man believe
That will only fly if you believe Trump is a reasonable man. LOL!!
That football team I used as an example will never "believe' they lost. They will forever believe that game was stolen from them, reasonable or not. I surmise the same holds true for Trump. And unless Jack can prove he is a mind reader, his evidence is worthless, everywhere but D.C.
If Jack was not worried about his case, and wanted to silence the bias critics, he would prove it by agreeing to a change of venue. Fat chance of that. He knows he has a lock in D.C.
that doesn't prove that Trump knew that he lost the election.
That is a really tricky thing to prove. I mean, Trump is still spouting off about how the election was stolen. At just about every one of his rallies, he ends by saying that he won and will have to do it all over again.
Let me try an analogy here. Fourth quarter of a football game. OK?
Team that is behind is driving for the goal line, with time running out. The last play of the game, the quarterback tosses a pass that is caught just inside the endzone, but the ref calls it incomplete. Replays show the pass as inside the end zone, but the ref's call stands, as incomplete. The players and coaches all believe they won, although it will go down as a loss on the record books. Do you think that they will ever believe they lost that game? Although, in actuality they did, according to the record.
In other words, yes Biden was declared the winner, but did Trump, in his mind really believe he lost?
Only he knows. Yes, many told him he lost or tried to convince him. But only Trump really knows what he believes. He could acknowledge that Biden was declared the winner, but still never believe that he lost, but was cheated.
I'm not saying I agree or disagree. I'm just saying, it would be really tough to prove what was in Trump's mind. As egotistical as he is, it is easy for me to think, that he truely thought he was cheated and did not really lose.
Who will Republicans nominate for 2024.
Hell if I know. This could turn out to be another Mayor Barry deal. LOL!! Do you think Biden will be nominated. Many think Gavin Newsome will be the nominee when all this shakes out.
Barry's jury deadlocked on 12 of 14 charges, finding him guilty of just one count of cocaine possession that occurred before the sting.
According to a Washington Post article describing jury deliberations, one juror told the others that crack rocks seized as evidence didn't look like the drug to her, emboldening a bloc of jurors that refused to accept the popular mayor's guilt.
After serving six months in prison, Barry—who served as mayor from 1979 to 1991—was elected to another four-year term as mayor in 1994. He is currently a member of the D.C. city council.

his client, trump on TV, being silent, he can't talk in court
And you are such a dolt that you can not comprehend that nothing was said about Trump revealing the "truth" in court.
The truth will come out a evidence is provided by the defense, not by Trump comments in the courtroom. Sheesh, your mind has been so damaged by the hate poison swirling within your cranium, that you can not even comprehend what you are reading. Relax Skippy and let this play out and see what happens.
Trump's lawyer agrees with Democrats that want the trial televised. Is that so hard to comprehend?
But in court there are rules, the Republicans will balk
Trump attorney says he’d ‘love to see’ Jan. 6 trial televised
John Lauro, one of former President Trump’s attorneys in the Jan. 6 case, said he would “love to see” the former president’s trial televised, siding with House Democrats who have asked for cameras to be allowed inside a federal courtroom.
“I personally would love to see that,” Lauro told Shannon Bream on “Fox News Sunday. “I’m convinced the Biden administration does not want the American people to see the truth. And they acted on it by filing this protective order, which is an effort to keep important information about this case from the press.”
“I’m shocked actually that all the networks haven’t lined up and filed pleadings already objecting to this very broad attempt by the Biden administration to keep information away from the American people during the election season,” he continued. “The American people have a right to know, of course, Joe Biden doesn’t want that to happen.”

"Here the special counsel says that he [Trump] actually knew he lost the election but he tried to overturn the election anyway," Hutchinson said.
"And the defense is that, well, he actually believed that he won the election," the Republican went on. "So if you believe the defense then you've got a candidate who wants to be president who's delusional."

Leaked Video Shows Ex-Capitol Police Chief Saying January 6th Was A ‘Cover Up’

Sund says the crowd on January 6th was “filled with agents.” The FBI is accused of having numerous informants working with groups involved in the Capitol riot. You so clearly, and laughably, yearn for a Trump election win
Who said I wanted Trump to get elected? You sure assume a lot.
For example, wouldn't an innocent Trump push for his trials to be held as soon as feasible?
Not necessarily. When a prosecutor takes a couple of years to build a case, the defense is not going to be able to examine discovery and build a rebuttal in a matter of weeks. Just my opinion. I'm not a lawyer, like many pretend to be. I will say this. I think/guess Trump will get convicted in D.C., simply because the trial of a political figure, especially in D.C., can not avoid being affected by political bias. And D.C. is definitely a bastion of Democrats in a constantly political atmosphere.
was it legal for trump to throw out the election results because he lost
What? Are you taking a poll? I thought you did not believe in them. Only in the voting booth. Well, let;s see how that turns out. I try never to pre judge. I think he was wrong, but guilty? I'll let the lawyers hash that out.
I really can only take personal experience and use it in my own trials and tribulations.
It is all any of us can do. I know a bit of your history, as you have shared it here and at another board. You would be surprised to know that we have much in common. I won't get into specifics, but I will say, Cupid has played cruel tricks on me and John Barleycorn was my best friend for a good amount of time. And all the other corresponding attitudes , emotions and vices have run their course. Policemen? Ha!!
More than a few knew mw on sight. LOL!!
But, it passed and I am now a relatively sane 75 year old calmly riding out the rest of my time. So, I suppose whatever you may have to say, I can feel ya.
Time for this old man to take a nap. Until then.
You really need to change your board name to Swami.
For someone that does not know me, you seem to know just how I would react to every situation.
Wishy-Washy? No, just not so egotistical that I would claim to know every outcome of a trial, before all the evidence comes to light. Reading op-eds is not the basis for making legal decisions. Although they are held at the highest premium here, to reinforce what is supposed to be original thought. In fact it is almost mandatory and a rule that all of us posters here must live by.
Let's see how this plays out, then we can become overjoyed or outraged as we choose.
Did you not learn anything from all the pundit assurances of a Hillary victory?
Well, all I can say to that is.........Politics today is what it is. And we really have little we can do about it.
We can opine and complain, but the beat goes on. Perhaps one day, Americans will wake up and start to vote for responsible representatives and this circus will end. Until then, we watch with anguish, the back and forth of the two party system. It appear the only time they can come together is when a third party candidate shows some interest by the electorate. Ask Ross Perot? If he wasn't a loon before, he sure became one during. LOL!!
The rule of law playing out is NOT election interference
Perhaps you should go on YouTube and explain that to the so called MAGA Cretins, as you describe them. My comment was nothing would surprise me in this election climate. And pointing out the legal possibilities. Why is it you jump off so hard, when someone offers a different opinion or possibilities?
Plenty of people get off after exaustive crimminal investigations.
Remember Michael Sussmann?
Hillary did not ACT on her free speech and attempt to gather fake electors, call a swing state and tell them how many votes she needed and mount an insurrection at the Capitol.
I didn't say she did. Nor did I say she planted the operative seed for how to handle getting an election stolen. All I said was maybe Trump took her comments to heart. And then, that was in jest, more than seriousness.
Please try and sharpen you reading comprehension skills and not become so defensive. I was trying to bring a smile to your face, not set off a TDS tantrum.
At some point even 'the stupidest of MAGA cretins' are going to exclaim WTF?
Or Trump supporters will just think it is one more attempt to interfere in the election of Trump.
Who knows. We can only wait and see how this plays out.
And what happens if Trump happens to be found innocent of an upcoming case or a conviction is overturned on appeal? Always possibilities.
Nothing would surprise me in today's political climate.
the easiest way to see that Trump knew that he lost the 2020 election is that he only ever says that his election was "stolen."
See, if you gave a single fuck about "election integrity" or some such shit, you'd have to insist that the whole goddamned election was screwed up and everyone who got elected did so unfairly,
Just maybe Trump took to heart what Hillary was saying..........
'You can have the election stolen from you,' Hillary Clinton warns 2020 Democrats

Desantis is still running for President, hardly ever hear anything from him. Only Desantis can take a vacation while on the campaign trail. He probably supports trump in his court fight.
I disagree. The only reason Desantis took a flyer for the nomination is the chance that Trump will fall due to his legal problems. Either by losing support or going to prison. In that sense, although Desantis would never say it out loud, he probably is hoping Trump's legal problems will bring Trump down and he (Desantis) will assume the primary lead. As it stands, Trump's primary lead is greater than all the other candidates combined.

GOP support for Trump softens as the former president's legal troubles mount
Not So says CNN.............
Trump’s political fortunes stay bright
CNN’s Harry Enten has two very important points in his analysis.
Trump is in a very strong position to win the GOP primary.
Enten: No one in Trump’s current polling position in the modern era has lost an open presidential primary that didn’t feature an incumbent. He’s pulling in more than 50% of support in the national primary polls, i.e., more than all his competitors combined.
Proving Enten’s point, in a new New York Times/Siena College poll, Trump has the support of more than half, 54%, of the Republican primary electorate. He roughly triples the support for his nearest competitor, the flagging Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is under 20%.
Trump would be competitive in November 2024 against Biden.
Enten: What should arguably be more amazing is that despite most Americans agreeing that Trump’s two indictments thus far were warranted, he remains competitive in a potential rematch with President Joe Biden. A poll out last week from Marquette University Law School had Biden and Trump tied percentage-wise (with a statistically insignificant few more respondents choosing Trump).
Enten notes that general election polling so far from the election should not be viewed as predictive, which could give Democrats some solace. But the fact is that both men have poor favorability ratings. And Trump is neck and neck with Biden in some key states like Pennsylvania.
And note: The primary will mostly be completed by the end of March, when the first of the currently scheduled criminal trials is set to get underway.

Just to clear up this point. Archer was warned, along with his lawyer, that it is illegal to lie to Congress and he was subject to charges of perjury.

The voting booth is the only poll that matters.
Which will make the next election very interesting. There is so much bullshit flying around, I can't imagine how it will turn out. But I am anxious to see.
Read both and find out.
Just briefly though, one of the charges against Trump is he tried to disenfranchise voters and discount their votes. Trump was accused of lieing to do that.
The second article shows that Democrat representatives did the same.
Do your own comparison and tell me there are no similarities.

A lot of similarities in my opinion.
Well, I'm not alone there. Polls suggest a two tiered justice system as well as a politcized DOJ.
Rasmussen Poll: Majority of Voters Think DOJ Politicized
Rasmussen asked voters if they agreed or disagreed with the statement: "The Department of Justice has reached an intolerable state of politicization":
41% strongly agree.
16% somewhat agree.
The poll also found that most voters think that the ongoing investigation into Trump is likely politically motivated:
46% said it's very likely that the investigation is politically motivated.
14% somewhat likely.
The survey also asked voters across the country about the DOJ's investigation into "former President Donald Trump over his alleged mishandling of government documents":

10% somewhat approve.

So, let me ask this. Do you think the Supreme Court has become politicized?
What to know about Tanya S. Chutkan, the judge overseeing Trump's Jan. 6 case
Yes, I predict this indictment has put Trump's nuts in a vice.
In Florida, he has a "favoable" judge and jury pool.
New York seems to keep fumbling about.
If indicted in Georgia, the jury pool there could possibly stymie a conviction.
But a Republican on trial In Washington D.C. is almost a given guilty verdict. And this judge has been hard in sentencing DC Jan 6 rioters. If she was hard on them, think how she will react to the motivator or "the cause" of the riot. Trump is tits up on this one, I predict.

Well, answer me this honestly. Come on Man!!
Definitely need to impeach both of them for caring about one another after Beau Biden died.
Nothing soothes grief like discussing how to sell the "Biden Brand". LOL!!
fuagf,
Well just one more comment. I believe that the election was stolen from Trump is as farcical as the Russians stealing the election from Hillary. You see, there are fanatics on both sides that will believe most anything and grasp at any whimsy, as proof that it is so.
Guess I'll talk to you tomorrow.
WOW!! Quite an expose'. I often wonder just who is telling the truth and who is grinding an axe. LOL!!
Only time will clarify.
How do we really ever know who is lying and who is telling the truth.. This could be as much a political hit piece as Shapely is accused of providing.
Do you believe Trump is lying about the election result. Just out of interest. Can you commit on that.
Well, let me put it this way. I believe Trump lost the election. But did he truly believe he did and state as much? I think he truly believes he won and the election was stolen. So, is he lying?
Now, I believe in God. Some would say that no God exists. Does that make me a liar, because I believe that God exists and would readily say so?
I drive a Ford Truck. A friend of mine believes Chevy Trucks are better than Ford. I would not call him a liar, even though I disagree.
I hope I adequately explained that. The same in politics. Because I may disagree with some of your political positions, I would never call you a liar or stupid. You have your beliefs and I have mine.
We may even share a few.
Do I think most politicians are corrupt? Yes. Some more than others. But, to different degrees, I believe corruption is a trait they all practice, either wittingly or not. You have to realize the ambition and drive of any politician to mold things as they seem appropriate or right. I mean, why else would they want to have that station in life. They believe they know what should be. And how things should be. They enforce their beliefs, by pointing out the strength of their support. So, they believe. They believe that a Congress or a Court that does not share their beliefs should be over ridden or are against their ambition to make things right, as they envision. That kind of belief is scarey. It is the exact reason that we have checks and balances. Because, unbridled, any leader or politicain with unbridled power would become intolerable. Whether He/She be Democrat or Republican. History has proven this over and over again. It is the crux of all conflict, including war.
Do I think Trump could be a dangerous despot? Yes, but no more so than any other president. Do I think Trump illogically thinks he won the election or at least cheated out of it? Yes. But, I believe all others do as well, but are gracious enough not to shout their feelings out loud. I believe Hillary ranted on for a few years as to how she was cheated for a number of various reasons. I could go on with other examples, but I think you get what I am saying.
(Please excuse the updates to correct some typo's)
