So now we're having trump demanding our congress to help him scam America. I guess it's the next conspiracy theater Comer, Jorden, MTG, and Faux News can rant and rave about. The Biden flop not working out so well, people are changing the channel. A stinky pinky scheme with control of our republican congress, what could go wrong?
One would expect him to pull out all the stops to delay the inevitable plunge as he grifts his billions, which isn't to far away. The republican congress helping this stench do it doesn't really surprise me either.

The article was based on a study comparing ng and coal and the GWP (Global Warming Potential) differences over 20 years time, and pointing out reduction of methane pollutants as a effective, easier, faster, and cheaper to do than CO2 removal on a global scale. I didn't get the impression that the author was saying "instead of", just saying "in addition to" that we can do now getting comparatively quick long term results. I felt that it was advocating for more attention to detection and correcting all the releases that was being shadowed by all the attention just to CO2, but continue the study and application of CO2 reduction.
The 20 year period and 100 year period are common standard time spans when calculating climate pollutants and their GWP, and takes into account different life cycles or decay rates, with a whole lot of other things. A pollutant that might last the whole 20 or 100 years will get a different rating than a pollutant that decayed out in half that time, but still the ratings are for the 20 and 100 span.

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer was eager to take the reins of a high-stakes investigation into President Joe Biden and his family, seen as central to the House Republican agenda – a coveted perch that brought the added benefit of elevating his national profile.
But after 15 months of coming up short in proving some of his biggest claims against the president, Comer recently approached one of his Republican colleagues and made a blunt admission: He was ready to be “done with” the impeachment inquiry into Biden, according to the lawmaker who relayed the conversation to CNN.
Comer has grown increasingly frustrated as his investigation appears to be at a dead end, with Republicans resigned to the reality that they don’t have the votes to impeach the president, multiple sources with direct knowledge of the situation told CNN.
Sources say the Kentucky Republican is now focused on tactfully wrapping up his work – all while Comer, a five-term congressman, has another matter on his mind: ambitions to run for higher office one day, including potentially running for governor, according to lawmakers who have spoken to him.
“Comer is hoping Jesus comes so he can get out,” one of the GOP lawmakers who spoke to Comer told CNN. “He is fed up.”.......................

Lara, you know why there was "a moratorium on the RNC for 40 years"? Because the RNC was caught cheating. The RNC was placed under a 1982 Consent decree for voter caging. Voter caging hinders an eligible voter’s ability to vote. The process involves efforts to identify and disenfranchise improperly registered voters solely on the basis of undeliverable mail. It often leads to the unwarranted purging of election rolls of otherwise eligible voters.
So, given the continued lies about the 2020 election and your daddy-in-law claiming if he loses in 2024 it's because the election is rigged, you're planning to have your people "physically handle the ballots"--and we're supposed to think that's a good idea?

US Senate passes $95bn aid for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan

The US Senate voted resoundingly on Tuesday to approve $95bn in wartime aid for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, as a bipartisan super-majority united to send the long-stalled package to Joe Biden’s desk for signature. The final vote was 79 to 18.
The bill easily cleared a key procedural hurdle earlier in the day. The Senate overwhelmingly voted to advance the measure in a step hailed by the Senate majority leader as “one of the greatest achievements the Senate has faced in years”.
“Today the Senate sends a unified message to the entire world: America will always defend democracy in its hour of need,” said Chuck Schumer in a floor speech on Tuesday afternoon.
“Make no mistake, America will deliver on its promise to act like a leader on the world stage, to hold the line against autocratic thugs like Vladimir Putin,” he continued. “We are showing Putin that betting against America is always, always a grave mistake.”...........................

I see that. I was only comparing using "entire" or no modifier. I did think of it in the context of that issue in front of the court at that time though whether "all", "entire", or nothing. If that what was meant by "to be fair" that it was only to that specific case and not the entire trump trials, then I get it. I had to go review, the english language can be quite taxing sometimes, and it's my first language. lol
https://englishhelponline.me/the-difference-between-words-all-whole-entire-each-and-every/
I recently had a request from one of the readers to explain the difference between the words: all, whole and entire. So that’s what I’m going to write about today, but I’d also like to include the words “each” and “every”.
The word “all” is used with countable or uncountable nouns to refer to 100% of many things. For example:
All of my furniture is from Ikea. (uncountable)
I bought all of my plates from ABC department store. (countable)
The words “whole” and “entire” mean 100% of one thing. It is used with countable nouns. For example:
I ate the whole pie by myself. I’m so full right now.
I spent the entire day watching TV and drinking beer. It was great!
The word “each” and “every” are very similar but have slightly different meanings. They are both used with countable nouns. The word “each” focuses on the individual parts that make up a collection of something, but “every” focuses on all the parts that make up a collection of something. For example:
Each of the stamps in my collection came from a different country.
Every stamp in my collection is very valuable.
Each person in my family is very special to me.
Every person in my family can play the piano.
In addition, we use “each” when we want to focus on the differences between things, and we use “every” when we want to focus on the fact that things are the same. For example:
I have many pins in my collection and each one comes from a different country.
I paid over $20 for every pin in my collection.
I hope this is clear to everyone. Please note that when the words “each” and “every” are followed by a verb in the present tense, it must have an “s”. Therefore, “each” and “every” follow the same grammar rules as “he”, “she” and “it”.

BIDEN-HARRIS ADMINISTRATION FINALIZES RULE TO INCREASE COMPENSATION THRESHOLDS FOR OVERTIME ELIGIBILITY, EXPANDING PROTECTIONS FOR MILLIONS OF WORKERS
Rule ensures salaried workers making less than $58,656 receive fair pay for long hours
https://www.dol.gov/newsroom/releases/whd/whd20240423-0
WASHINGTON – The Biden-Harris administration today announced a final rule that expands overtime protections for millions of the nation’s lower-paid salaried workers by increasing the salary thresholds required to exempt a salaried bona fide executive, administrative or professional employee from federal overtime pay requirements.
Effective July 1, 2024, the salary threshold will increase to the equivalent of an annual salary of $43,888 and increase to $58,656 on Jan. 1, 2025. The July 1 increase updates the present annual salary threshold of $35,568 based on the methodology used by the prior administration in the 2019 overtime rule update. On Jan. 1, 2025, the rule’s new methodology takes effect, resulting in the additional increase. In addition, the rule will adjust the threshold for highly compensated employees. Starting July 1, 2027, salary thresholds will update every three years, by applying up-to-date wage data to determine new salary levels.
“This rule will restore the promise to workers that if you work more than 40 hours in a week, you should be paid more for that time,” said Acting Secretary Julie Su. “Too often, lower-paid salaried workers are doing the same job as their hourly counterparts but are spending more time away from their families for no additional pay. That is unacceptable. The Biden-Harris administration is following through on our promise to raise the bar for workers who help lay the foundation for our economic prosperity.”
The department conducted extensive engagement with employers, workers, unions and other stakeholders before issuing its proposed rule in September 2023, and considered more than 33,000 comments in developing its final rule. The updated rule defines and delimits who is a bona fide executive, administrative and professional employee exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act’s overtime protections.
“The Department of Labor is ensuring that lower-paid salaried workers receive their hard-earned pay or get much-deserved time back with their families,” said Wage and Hour Administrator Jessica Looman. “This rule establishes clear, predictable guidance for employers on how to pay employees for overtime hours and provides more economic security to the millions of people working long hours without overtime pay.”
Key provisions of the final rule include the following:
Expanding overtime protections to lower-paid salaried workers.
Giving more workers pay or valuable time back with their family: By better identifying which employees are executive, administrative or professional employees who should be overtime exempt, the final rule ensures that those employees who are not exempt receive time-and-a-half pay when working more than 40 hours in a week or gain more time with their families.
Providing for regular updates to ensure predictability. The rule establishes regular updates to the salary thresholds every three years to reflect changes in earnings. This protects future erosion of overtime protections so that they do not become less effective over time.
The rule’s effective date is July 1, 2024. Learn more about the department’s efforts to restore and extend overtime protections.

The Department of Labor Just Gave Millions of Workers Overtime Pay
If you make under $58,656, you will soon be entitled to overtime.
https://substack.perfectunion.us/p/the-department-of-labor-just-gave
APR 23, 2024
By Paul Blest, More Perfect Union
Millions of U.S. workers are newly eligible to be paid time-and-a-half for working overtime under a rule finalized today by the Biden administration.
The Department of Labor’s new rule expands the threshold for mandatory overtime to all salaried workers making up to $58,656 per year who work more than 40 hours a week. Under the previous rule, employers were only required to pay overtime to certain workers making up to $35,568—well below the median U.S. salary.
The updated threshold, proposed last year, will expand overtime eligibility to more than 3.5 million more workers. Effective July 1, 2024, the salary threshold will increase to $43,888 and again to $58,656 on Jan. 1, 2025. The rule also requires that salary thresholds be automatically updated every three years based on up-to-date wage data.
The updated rule also eliminates a loophole by covering managers and supervisors. Under the previous standard, employers could avoid paying overtime wages by giving lower-level workers fraudulent supervisorial titles like “carpet shampoo manager” or “lead shower door installer.” A study released by the National Bureau of Economic Research found that companies used this tactic to avoid $4 billion in overtime payments.
The Biden administration is attempting to reverse a decades-long shift away from overtime protections. As recently as 1975, more than 60 percent of the American workforce was eligible for time-and-a-half; as of 2022, that number was down to around 13 percent.
“This rule will restore the promise to workers that if you work more than 40 hours in a week, you should be paid more for that time,” Acting Labor Secretary Julie Su said in a statement. “Too often, lower-paid salaried workers are doing the same job as their hourly counterparts but are spending more time away from their families for no additional pay. That is unacceptable.”
The new regulation is likely to face opposition from Republicans and business groups. In 2014, then-President Barack Obama’s Department of Labor increased the threshold to everyone making under $47,000 per year, but after a lawsuit from 21 state attorneys general and business groups, a federal judge in Texas struck that rule down in 2017.
In August, the Chamber of Commerce called the new Labor Department rule “the wrong rulemaking at the wrong time,” and said it “hopes that DOL heeds the comments and input from employers and makes significant changes to its proposal.”
Sen. Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, the ranking Republican on the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee, echoed big business in a statement that called the proposal “the exact wrong time for the administration to implement such a drastic increase.”
But labor advocates have applauded the push to restore overtime protections. The AFL-CIO said in August that “for millions of families across our country, access to overtime wages would make an enormous difference.”

Judge Warns Trump’s Idiot Lawyer His Entire Credibility Is at Risk
Todd Blanche appears to be quickly making things worse for Donald Trump in the hush-money trial.
https://newrepublic.com/post/180897/judge-warns-trump-idiot-lawyer-blanche-credibility?
An attorney for Donald Trump’s legal defense in his New York criminal trial took a serious misstep on Tuesday that resulted in a critical warning from Judge Juan Merchan.
On the second day of the trial, attorney Todd Blanche attempted to portray Trump as an individual fully aware of the limitations of the partial gag order imposed on him in the trial, which forbids him from speaking publicly about courtroom staff, prosecutors, or any of their family members. Comments about jurors are also prohibited, as well as comments about witnesses, though comments about Merchan and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg are still on the table.
Still, Trump has already managed to violate the gag order about a dozen times, according to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.
“President Trump does in fact know what the gag order allows him to do and what it does not allow him to do,” Blanche told the court, insisting that his client had not violated the court order since Trump’s comments toward witnesses, including adult film actress Stormy Daniels and his former fixer Michael Cohen, allegedly came after they had spoken about him first.
“He’s allowed to respond to political attacks, your honor,” Blanche said, according to MSNBC’s Adam Klasfled.
But Merchan remembered the order of events, reminding Blanche that Trump’s disparaging remarks had in fact come before the others’.
“President Trump ‘Truths’ repeatedly, all day, virtually seven days a week, your honor,” Blanche replied.
The ensuing back-and-forth between Blanche and Merchan continued to a rolling boil until Blanche suddenly claimed that the violations at hand—which involve Trump “reposting an article from a news site” or a “news program”—don’t actually violate the order. Still, Blanche had no precedent or case law to support such a claim.
“I don’t have any case law,” Blanche said, instead calling it “common sense” and doubling down that Trump had been “very careful to comply” with the order.
That was, apparently, the straw that broke the camel’s back, after which Merchan dropped that the attorney had gone too far.
“Mr. Blanche, you are losing all credibility with the court,” Merchan said, according to LawFare’s Anna Bower.
“You say the posts are ambiguous, you say he didn’t know, but you’re not offering me anything to support your argument. You’re not giving me anything to hang my hat on,” Merchan continued.
“The fact that the prosecution did not come running in here as some as your client posted things too close to the line is not probative of anything here,” he added before telling the court to take a break.

Not sure how many "low-income" people own their own home, or the ones who do would even be able to take advantage of this. I've been able to take advantage of $1,000's of rebates/tax credits for energy updates from the government and utility companies through President Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act. But I spent $10's of thousands on energy upgrades to get those credits. I'm not sure how this particular policy will work, but hope it helps to improve and lower costs of solar and allow more people to help with the energy transitions.

I fully agree. I think it would work, how much effect, really don't know, but any amount in a closely divided situation can mean a lot. I'd even add third and fourth reason to be doing it, by letting more people aware of the issue, the US will be better defended against the foreign aggressions, and fourth it just might, at least there would be a chance that the gap in our countries division, exacerbated by some of those foreign aggressions, could be diminished.
.
I'll assume they'll just continue to project, deny, delay, bellow out their ass some more hate and division, louder and stinkier than ever. We can hope that they'll prove me wrong and make an ass out of me. But you know what they say, hope is not a strategy.

Secret Russian foreign policy document urges action to weaken the U.S.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2024/04/17/russia-foreign-policy-us-weaken/?
Russia’s Foreign Ministry has been drawing up plans to try to weaken its Western adversaries, including the United States, and leverage the Ukraine war to forge a global order free from what it sees as American dominance, according to a secret Foreign Ministry document.
In a classified addendum to Russia’s official — and public — “Foreign Policy Concept of the Russian Federation,” the ministry calls for an “offensive information campaign” and other measures spanning “the military-political, economic and trade and informational psychological spheres” against a “coalition of unfriendly countries” led by the United States.
“We need to continue adjusting our approach to relations with unfriendly states,” states the 2023 document, which was provided to The Washington Post by a European intelligence service. “It’s important to create a mechanism for finding the vulnerable points of their external and internal policies with the aim of developing practical steps to weaken Russia’s opponents.”
The document for the first time provides official confirmation and codification of what many in the Moscow elite say has become a hybrid war against the West. Russia is seeking to subvert Western support for Ukraine and disrupt the domestic politics of the United States and European countries, through propaganda campaigns supporting isolationist and extremist policies, according to Kremlin documents previously reported on by The Post. It is also seeking to refashion geopolitics, drawing closer to China, Iran and North Korea in an attempt to shift the current balance of power........................................
......................................The document says the outcome of Russia’s war in Ukraine will “to a great degree determine the outlines of the future world order,” a clear indication that Moscow sees the result of its invasion as inextricably bound with its ability — and that of other authoritarian nations — to impose its will globally....................................................
.....................For Mikhail Khodorkovsky — the longtime Putin critic who was once Russia’s richest man until a clash with the Kremlin landed him 10 years in prison — it is not surprising that Russia is seeking to do everything it can to undermine the United States. “For Putin, it is absolutely natural that he should try to create the maximum number of problems for the U.S.,” he said. “The task is to take the U.S. out of the game, and then destroy NATO. This doesn’t mean dissolving it, but to create the feeling among people that NATO isn’t defending them.”
The long congressional standoff on providing more weapons to Ukraine was only making it easier for Russia to challenge Washington’s global power, he said.
“The Americans consider that insofar as they are not directly participating in the war [in Ukraine], then any loss is not their loss,” Khodorkovsky said. “This is an absolute misunderstanding.”
A defeat for Ukraine, he said, “means that many will stop fearing challenging the U.S.” and the costs for the United States will only increase.

Ok, this post got a little long, there's always the next button or scroll bar. But includes just a little taste of what Putin plans to feast upon if we don't stop him.
It's not a Ukraine/Russia war, although it is labeled that, the reality it is Putin's World War with whatever number attached to it you might want to pick. You've got the world axis of evil countries like China, Iran, North Korea, and others with a few countries that can be classified as Russia controlled Satellites all supplying military weapons and supply, support with Cyber Warfare, disinformation campaigns, or any help they can give to Putin's war machine against the West, like US and other western NATO countries in Europe.
In fact, one can not count too many countries in the world that are not dramatically affected or involved in some way on one side or the other either militarily or economically or both, either directly or indirect involvement. Putin is involved in many underdeveloped nations constantly subjecting his influence or control over them, gaining world power and growing danger to the security of our country and many others in the world. Not the only adversary, but Russia is constantly attacking the US with Cyber Warfare and disinformation tactics on a regular basis costing the US citizens and businesses trillions, many times the billions funded for Ukraine. He's infiltrated our government and other countries governments.
There is no denying that this is truly a World War and there is no denying that the security of Ukraine now is security for the US and the "free" world in the future. We can sugar coat or maybe diminish the importance with some minimized label. But it's the world in a win or lose battle between evil and maybe not good, but a whole lot better than evil. This war is as, or more important and consequential as any other world war in history. Our actions and reactions better reflect the realization of the true nature of this war, not worry about what it's named, and reject propaganda speech from our enemies.
The younger generation seem to be always the ones who bears the weight of changing something so terribly wrong. They were there energizing the civil rights movement, responsible for the beginning of the end of the Vietnam War (which politicians and military unsuccessfully tried to label a "police action" like the Korean War, but the hypocrisy needle was buried off the meter and the attempt faded with the night, a war is still a war, no matter what it's labeled). The younger generation have been beaten, imprisoned, even laid down their lives when unarmed student war protesters got massacred by Ohio National Guard at Kent State, determined to right the wrong and successfully doing so. Some of us were there with some of them, now time to be with them in a different way.
Now is the time to count on them again, a civil rights movement again, different, but just as important. The human rights of women to not be denied rightful medical care, right to control their own selves, the right of the masses to not be controlled by just a misguided or devious few. The human rights of LBGTQ not to be victimized, accused of not being human and being evil. Rights of the marginalized and reduction of the systematic racism in this country. Together, these people that deserve civil rights as any other human, represent the largest portion of the American population, probably the world. Our salvation depends on the young minds and focused women and their visions, especially these times when so many of the older generation are acting like babies.
On another front and part of the Russian World War, the young (and women) are stepping up to the plate, fighting Russia in their own way.

About time Congress does their day job. Some reporter asked the speaker what took it so long, he replied something like "we've been busy, lot of work to be done."
Yea, like having showings of dick pics, fake impeachment hearings, kissing Traitor trump's arse in a split notice, running defense for a notorious criminal, destroying the most aggressive constructive bipartisan border protection bill in ages, and we can't forget appliance week that took longer than they expected. Pretty busy I guess, glad they could find some time to a job they were hired for. At least maga hats lost a bit of power. Looks like there are a few republicans left that aren't Guardians Of Putin.
Here's Moscow Marge ( Russia - Representative for Putin). She doesn't even try to make sense, doesn't really have to I guess, her followers don't have any sense to make with.
This woman introduced an amendment with the word 'Transcarpathia' in it yesterday. I've sat across a hearing room from her for long enough to know she couldn't spell that word before this week, let alone find it on a map.
