I believe you are probably right. Real investors don't see any value in this stock at these prices.
I got suspicious at the market open and cancelled my short sales (options).
Whew ! Just lucky.
Good luck.
Hmmm..........as they say, "no good stock rise goes unpunished".
Damn , this was a GOOD day! I can't catch my breath.
Bingoreeno!
99 shares just traded at $98.71 . Still counts in my book.
Just saw that trade of 85k but almost two hours after market opened.
No volume showing this morning on TD Ameritrade. Has GEGI been halted?
This pattern of slow decline after a good rise in share price has been taking place for the last twenty or twenty five years since I have been invested. We probably could have made some good profits by just shorting or playing with puts each time a good news event with IDCC takes place.
It is just difficult to bet on the downside of a stock that you believe has the technology to be great.
At least the modest dividend blunts some of the pain.
MD
We were doing so well.
Why the haircut for the last few days?
Any theories ?
X,
I agree!
Actually, it amounts to legal (somewhat) fraud.
There are more ethical ways to play the game if one believes the stock price will fall.
Buying puts is one of those methods. Avoiding the stock altogether is another method.
Even if a person had "inside information" about the company's health, and acted on that information, that is basically unethical.
Of course, when has the stock market ever been completely ethical?
Some folks have pride in their morals and actions throughout life, and some just don't.
Always, just my humble opinion.
MD
Somebody, some "thing", or someone really busted their but* to keep the share price suppressed today.
In the long run it won't matter anyway.
I'm going to exercise my calls to buy more shares on Friday.
Keep the faith !
MD
Coupled with yesterday's news and the market gains of yesterday and today, we SHOULD HAVE seen another share price increase of at least a couple of dollars today. Instead, the ML "yes boys" fulfilled their duties to whoever it is that is manipulating this stock.
The BOD should have bumped the dividend 15% along with the release of news yesterday and gut punched the ML report.
All just my humble opinion of course.
MD
It sure seems like this is the case. What other explanation is there for the declining stock price following good reports from the company?
The share price falls off a cliff with bad Dow and Nasdaq days and barely climbs on the good days. It is manipulation from somebody for some reason.
Pathetic for sure!
At this point, first chance I get at a $75 or $80 share price (if there ever will be one again), I am done and gone.
MD
I wonder the same thing but it fits the IDCC pattern of stock price verses good news and good earnings releases. You might think we would have learned our lessons by now. Well, maybe some of us have learned that lesson, but not me.
Minnow and Eagle were a lot more civilized than I have been during the last couple of trading sessions.
You know, "if you can't say anything nice, then don't say anything at all" pretty much fits my demeanor. I shall bite my tongue again.
MD
Well !
Not a single comment on a one day, 4+% gain. It's much better than a 4% loss.
I guess we have learned it doesn't indicate anything meaningful with this stock, but rather just manipulation in the other direction for a change.
Regardless, I'm pleased with today's price action.
Good luck to anyone still long IDCC !
My3Sons87
Of course I saw the "red" today. I also have numerous stocks that finished in the "green" today including GM, F, UNP, KR, IDA to name a few.
I provided no misinformation to you or anyone else.
I call them as I see them and we are done with this discussion.
Thanks for your reply.
I agree Monterey2k.
However, a positive event like this that generates a decline in stock price seems to be the normal for IDCC over the years I have owned it (and that is about 30 now).
I still have some faith but a lifetime is finite.
Thanks for your reply.
Doc
What a shame!
This company signs a world-wide, multi year license, that one would assume will create a revenue stream, and the share price declines.
Here We have a company with so much promise yet it suffers from so much stock price manipulation.
It is hard to understand this stock.
I know, me too! I just kept thinking "the next time it runs to 80 I'm gone". But twenty-five plus years and I am still here.
Oh well, the next time it goes to eighty, I'm gone.
I certainly hope so because this share price performance is pathetic!
Even though I was wrong, I am still happy!
The MM don't always get their way.
Just looking at the call options open interest, there will be an effort to hold the share price below $50 at closing time. Tens of thousands of contracts will expire worthless.
Just my opinion and I am staying long (for now).
I'm trying to understand.
Does today's price action indicate that IDCC fits Germany's definition of a patent troll?
it is an epic fight. The battle line is at $50. If you can, keep on pushing the ask. Thousands of soldiers can make a difference !
Yeehaw ! Gawd, what a ride today. Bumped the ask for my $7 calls up three times in 5 minutes.
Yup ! I am not surprised.
It was just wishful thinking on my part.
I am totally used to this management style at this point having been invested in IDCC since the early 1990's.
Oh well !
Thank you for your efforts.
MD
Just thinking........(out loud for a change)
Here is what a management does that "cares" about their stockholders.
Costco had an outsized $12 billion-plus in cash on its balance sheet compared to only $7.5 billion in total debt exiting its most recent quarter. So now was a good as time as any to reward shareholders.
And management did just that Monday at long last.
The retailer announced a $10 a share special dividend payable to shareholders of record as of December 2. It will be paid out on December 11.
IDCC: total cash ~ $919m
total debt ~ $363.5m
just sayin'............
MD
If the machines are selling this stock then unplug the damn machines!
I am sure of one thing.
As soon as I liquidate any of my position in this stock, it will rocket back up to $60 + !
I'll ride this thing down to zero if I have to.
I done with my ranting (for today).
MD
One question.
Why would anyone sell their shares at this low price?
20% down in one day!
MD
At this rate of decline, our shares will soon be worth next to nothing.
They are approaching my average buy in price over the last twenty-five years.
As usual, down like a lead sinker and up like a lead balloon.
PATHETIC to say the least!
MD
Yup,
I've been here for a long time now and it is almost always the same story.
Biggest loser on down days and smallest gainer on up days.
"Some day Alice.............to the moon! Bang, zoom !!!!"
MD
Well, in my opinion, the fall of IDCC share price is nothing more than pure manipulation.
Understand the epidemic/pandemic may/will reduce the need for transportation industries, live entertainment industries, and luxury products, and all those products and industries related.
With the general public laying low for the time, it seems the communication industries would be enjoying a surge in need. Advanced tech phones and other technology to allow people to work and play from home should be gaining and not losing value.
As usual, IDCC falls like a lead sinker and rises like a lead balloon.
Always in my humble opinion !

Thanks for that info.
I will making inquiries to move mine out of my portfolio.
MD
Can someone who knows explain what happens to the shares we own?
Do we still own them?
I understand we can't trade them on the open market.
Has anyone been offered money for their shares?
Has anyone seen any proceeds go into their accounts from the public to private transition?
It appears to be trading on the Canadian market under the same symbol CBIS.CN.
Inquiring minds.................
md
Well good luck!
I think it is worth a little gamble too.
They haven't taken my bid offer yet.
md
Thanks Mel & Longoo.
A quick look on Yahoo Finance shows some small volume (33K), average daily around 15K shares, and priced near the top of its yearly range.
I don't know how accurate any of that into is but it is a start.
md
Evanaz,
Poly looks like an interesting company.
Does it have any ADR shares available in the U.S. or an over the counter symbol?
I did a quick search and haven't found anything.
the MD
Mel,
If you are referring to my post, I wrongly interpreted the article. I went back and reviewed the video and text of the interview and could not find the mention of "spraying a solution" as part of the treatment. The harvesting of a postage sized sample of skin was the only technique that was common to that procedure and Avita's procedure.
That leads me to believe that this technology they were raving about is probably not Avita's product.
I am still planning on a visit to their facility for a personal update of their procedures and products. If they give me a chance, I will make a pitch about Avita's product also.
Thanks.
MD
H,
After I showed up to see the doctor, he wasn't there and they sent me to see him at an outpatient facility 30 miles away. By the time I was finished, I did not get any chance to visit the burn center at the local hospital.
Will wait for another opportunity in the future.
Regardless, the stock is performing well without my help.
MD
H.,
Yes, this morning I went back and reviewed the video and text from the article. I agree with you. It is probably not Avita's product.
However, I am headed into the medical center today and will attempt to meet with the burn center personnel and find out if they are aware of Avita's technologies.
Thanks for the update and your efforts.
MD
Just saw a short news story out here in the desert of Idaho.
The small local hospital announced it is using a new technology to treat burn patients. The procedure has been extremely successful so far and the doctors on the interview were very enthusiastic about the procedure. The treatment uses a spray on solution made from skin cells taken from a postage stamp size sample from the patient. It was said to reduce the healing time by 40% with better end results.
Although they did not show video of any of the literature from the burn treatment kits, it certainly sounds like Avita's technology.
I am going to the medical center tomorrow for an unrelated matter but will do some detective work to try and find out what this new procedure they are using is all about and who makes it.
If it is getting raves out here in rural America, it is probably finding the same enthusiasm in the larger urban areas.
For what it's worth......................
MD
