long term I see Africa as being the leading producer, and it could save that continent if it proves to be an efficiently grown crop. Not sure what it would do for the rest of the world if Africa controlled the worlds biofuels :P read this: http://www.ecoworld.com/home/articles2.cfm?tid=367
Im saying that these plants take 2-3 years min to produce seeds
nice, but if they just started develping it in August how will it be fully operational by mid-2008? This shrub doesnt start producng nuts as soon as you plant them
The only people that could possibly gain a better life from growing jatropha in the long term market are the Africans. That is only if they can get coordinated. It isn't something that will ever be efficiently grown, cultivated and harvested in the US
AWYI is Green as gold and oil hit new record highs and the DOW starts to plummet
Read it again. Cornell has been on board. sounds like Arne is trying to settle with them and move on
right! like .0001
Nice Dreams
Good Luck
is this the same co.?
lol, I think cayman is really CJ in disguise. Now wouldn't that be something
Well said Cowboy
wow she brought you with her? lol you better go back and check your own stocks. seems you should know about rock bottom
man, just 3 days ago, someone here told me I would never see .0001 here again :P
Like a tank in water
At present is this company producing anything? Planning on producing anything in next 3 years?
man a lot of lenders are hurting right now. punch up the stock TMA once
My grandma used to say it was a cure for chapped lips. if you rub a little on your lips you wouldn't lick them anymore and make them chapped. ")
yeah but that much poop would have good soil building potential. Better to spread that on farm ground and use the crop trash for fuel, or use the poop to make methane gas for fuel
yeah sorry, was posting on 2 boards at the same time. looking for a good green power company in development stages to invest in. Got bombarded by both :)
I didn't mean to start a big debate, and I doubt that I would get lost. I have been wandering forests my whole life from IL to oregon and many places in between. I am not a tree hugger either, although I respect nature. My point originally that I was trying to make is , making fuel from trees is like getting water from a cactus compared to other natural resources. The so called green companies we will soon figure out are not so green, especially if you have to cut down living trees for an alternative fuel. It may be more suited to your terrain than growing corn I am sure, but it is not a long term answer to the problem. this company will probably do very well, and it's shareholders will most likely prosper from their actions, but in my kid's lifetimes those types of powerplants will be abandoned for a better way.
No one is going to burn the trees:) for starters. they are using them to get the sugars from the wood to make fuel, just like a still does to make whiskey. 1 bag of grass clippings or leaves for that matter has more of the nessecary sugars than a 2 ton tree. No one is going to use dead trees either
you are right the government and corps. are investing large amounts of money into these types of plants right now. My only point is that will change and these plants won't be around as long as the Nukes have
700000 tons per year mutiplied by hundreds of powerplants. Renewable for how long? reread my last post I just edited it.
yeah if we were talking about someone wandering through the woods picking up dead limbs you might be right, although it isn't a green fuel. It still emits carbons into the atmosphere if burned, and living trees absorb carbon from the atmosphere. Carbon is a greenhouse gas and is causing global warming!!! We aren't talking about burning it. we want to make alcohol from it and no one is supplying dead and rotten trees. They are cutting live trees. I have no quarrel with proper harvesting of trees. I have done it myself on my own property for years. I am only saying that in the near future we will not be able to rely on trees to make Bio fuels. It defeats the whole purpose!!!
In an earlier post someone made the comment that there would be hundreds of these plants in the US. Now take 700000 tons of wood multiplied by 100 biomass plant per year. How green is that?
The problem with that estimate is, from what I have read, the plant or shrub is a perrenial, and picking seeds from it would be like picking coffee beans, BY HAND without damaging the plant.
I realize that and sure, we have sawmills here in IL that give away sawdust, but the point I am making is, the farther we get into the global warming problem, the more we will want to save our trees. They are the only natural resource counter-acting the problem. My suggestion is to use another renewable resouce for example: grass clippings from interstate mowing or some other wasted organic matter. Lawn grass has a much higher sugar content than tree bark. I am only looking farther down the road and am in no way bashing this stock. It is a good idea for the times. At least it is an attempt. Just remember we had this conversation 10 years from now. :) Look at my profile and read another post that I just put on another board. Again a good attempt but not thought out well
Jatropha is a tropical or subtropical plant. Man I have been in wyoming when it was -40 degrees. In the summer most of it is like desert. I know I don't want to be watering them or picking seeds :)
man, who is gonna pick all those seeds, and what famer is going to give up that extra 3 rows of 13 dollar beans to make room for a living fence?
I am just saying farther down the road, (actually some are realizing it now.) People will figure out that many of these so called green fuels aren't so green. Your right, we don't use corn cobs for paper unfortunately. You have to look at the whole picture. It is good to use alternative fuels, no doubt, just to get away from the whole middle east BS, but 5, 10 years down the road, if not sooner, bio-fuels will be frowned upon to use for electricity production
Green company not so green. Easy to think of this as a green company, Because the end product used as fuel is easier on the atmosphere when burned. Where are the 700000 tons of clean wood coming from each year? That's a lot of trees. Acres of trees. is it really a green fuel in the end? Why not use corn cobs or something much cheaper, available and easier to harvest that contains more starch content and has no other usefulness other than building organic matter back to the soil from which it came? Not bashing the company,Not saying most invested here today, wont make money. Probably will.
But in the long run it won't fly.
You can't be sure of anything that you read in public forums or chat rooms. Too many crooks out there wanting to screw you over any way they can. Kinda like going to a carnival
LOL, it is not quite the same. You are doing fine with your posts.
I have been keeping an wandering eye on this stock since it was .07. Seemed like it had potential back then. So what is going on with this? Seems to have positive news on a regular basis. Can someone enlighten me? Dilution?
I think at some point Arne should look into Kiosks or some other form of interactive digital signage. The way technology advances, in the near future the interactivity will be done by voice recognition and communication
What's a commercial? :P I do the same, or I watch premium channels. rarely see commercials
wooHooo .006
Morning all. No trades yet?
Man this thing is spring loaded and solid. Unfortunately the runs seem to need solid news to make them fly. As long as we can maintain a sideways motion and keep fending off the MMs while waiting on some good solid news we will be OK.
Well, for those of us who knew, you have to remember that we are dealing with the female element here. It becomes a whole new ballgame :P Feelings get hurt easier. Maybe just by disagreeing. I am no sexist, by any means. My dad rarely gave advise, but when he did i usually listened. He told me once. "never try to figure out women, They are a whole different species." I like ClayTrader's motto. "Trade Without Emotion". hard to do sometimes, but a good policy.
