The bottom line is that shorting (borrowing shares) is legal and naked shorting ("borrowing" shares that don't exist), is not. If people don't want their shares compromised than they should request "hard copies" from their broker?

Thats used for tax reasons, not profit correct?

I disagree with the argument that it (shorting) is healthy for the market. As the pps goes up, natural "corrections" in price will occur as investors buy and sell.

Yeah, but the only way to stop naked shorting is to ban shorting altogether.
