I am not asking anyone here to not hold people accountable. Our voices need to be heard. I am not trying to drown out anyones voice here. Just asking it to tone it down from a scream to a gentler note that might be more welcome
For e.g. "Joey bloated the PR he is a ###*(#@....the SOB needs to resign etc. etc."
to "Joey's PR appears to be lies. We need validation. Let's all send him a (gentle) email asking him to clarify our doubts or call him or Phil directly. Let's take some action to make sure this kind of PR does not happen again. Suggestions on how to tackle this as a group?"
If we worked together as a collective group our voices will be more powerful but if we keep screaming everyone will be wearing ear plugs. Would you rather respond to a heckler or a supporter? I have had responses from Joey to my emails I believe mainly because I am not coming out at him with fists in the air. See this post for a sample.
Those are valid reasons for concerns and we should have a healthy debate about those by all means. I have posted before my own concerns about this as well before the shareholders call took place that addressed some of them (see this post)
Until the shareholders call I was doubtful of how credible Joey really is and in many ways he still has ways to go to prove himself to me and the investors here. If Joey was the only one on board without Phil I would be truly worried too. I am however happy that Joey made Phil the Co-CEO and am hopeful for the concept and I wish people would be too as I think we all agree that the concept has merit. I am ok with giving Phil another year to prove that he can make this work. I also believe in the power of positive thinking and I feel if we put out heads together as a group to help instead of hurt this concept we might actually achieve something. The way things are going right now we are only hurting ourselves and getting nothing done in the process that is of any true lasting value.
Does holding people responsible mean turning morally bankrupt ourselves. There are better ways to hold people accountable than publicly shaming them. Agencies like SEC exist for that purpose and they have already been contacted. Feel free to contact them too to voice your concerns but coming over here and promoting negativity and hatred is not the proper way to go about doing this IMO.
PNG you have obviously not read my posts and keep distorting my messages. To re-iterate a couple of things here:
1) Defending Joey: I have always been for accountability and am in total agreement with people on calling him out on his inappropriate actions which included the bloated PR's (Joey admitted to being guilty of this himself) and behaving inappropriately on the call for which I have said time and again he was wrong if you had cared to read my earlier posts about this. But a man is not defined by only his mistakes and I tend to look at the other side too where has made good choices which include firstly opening two locations which are producing good results, hiring Phil and other qualified people to help him as he now recognizes (hopefully) that he is not a good CEO and needs help. Why do you and other wish to take that away from him and only focus on certain aspects that suit your ideology and prove your point? Also if I choose to see a different side why does it upset you so? If you doubt my credibility send me a PM with your email and I will be happy to share details of my share lots and whatever else you need to put your mind at rest
2) Joe's salary: If you were on the call (and had read my post from yesterday talking about his salary) it was made clear that Joey had not taken a salary till 2006 and has at times not taken a salary when the funds were not available. I agree his salary is a bit high and he has recently lowered it. So either you choose to believe he is still in the wrong or give him benefit of the doubt to say that he has done the right thing when needed.
I am not here to defend anyone. I say things as I see them from my point of view which has been that Joey has a great concept but he is not a great CEO and has a flawed personality. Phil on the other hand is a great CEO and a great person. However by constantly reinforcing the weaknesses and not at all on the strengths does no good. Why blame him for who he is as a person. He's only human like the rest of us. Can you truly say we are perfect in all regards. At least he had a vision to improve the lives of kids worldwide and had the courage to follow through on it. How many of us have touched so many peoples lives in a positive way? Can we truly say we are better than Joey? We should introspect more before pointing fingers at others. Let's also give credit where due instead of only looking at one side of the coin.
Do what you will but please do not call me names. I have been nothing but respectful of people on here and I expect the same. If you want to be a bully and slander people then sure go ahead but it only reflects badly on you as a person.
I was in no way justifying his lack of professionalism...if you read my other posts you would see how many times I have called him out on that. I am only pointing out the fact that it takes two to tango and we also have to take responsibility for our part in this whole fiasco of negativity being thrown around that is only making things sour for all involved.
If you are referring to the question of buying more shares then no I am not buying any more as it will make little difference to my average given the amount of shares I hold and I don't have spare money to buy a lot of shares that would make a difference.
Sure one could argue that Joey did that conference after his hand was forced but perhaps he would have done it if people had asked nicely instead and perhaps the call would have had a much better tone than as Joey would not have felt so vindicated. It just proves my point, negativity only breeds negativity. Would you reward someone with a carrot after they beat you with a stick? Perhaps you should start with the carrot and the stick might not be needed after all.
Perhaps you should ask all the kids and their parents who are leaving 5 star reviews on the positive impact of GIGL and how its affecting their kids lives for the better.
The positive side of GIGL
LTG I understand your frustration, I came onboard for the same reasons. I am not here to add to your frustration and like everyone else you are welcome to come on board and vent as much as you like. I am simply saying to you and all those venting that it is a futile attempt as negativity only breeds more of the same. If you tried a more straightforward approach and said it like it is without getting your own feelings and frustrations involved you might actually get somewhere. So far this venting has got no results except lose potential investors, make JP angry and ruin the shareholders call. Show me some good results that you are getting out of this venting process and I will be first person to turn around and come on board.
An year of being Co-CEO. I think he deserves that much time to set something in motion.
You are assuming wrongly that the gravity of my loss should be proportional to my temperament. It might be true for you but that is not my point of view. I am losing much right now but I have not given up hope yet and if I do one day lose it all yes it will be a big blow to my finances but I will recover and life will go on. I was willing to take that risk when I put in so much faith in this concept. I have faced much bigger challenges in life than losing on an investment. I have proven in my own life that the power of positive thinking is much greater than negative thinking and focusing on the negative aspects of things.I am at peace with my decisions whereas it seems most people here are not and apt to blame others for their own choices. People here made the choice to invest, JP wasn't involved in that choice. Coming on this board and venting your frustrations is not going to change a thing except bring bad publicity and lose more investors.
To your point of coming here everyday I don't have the will or inclination to come here and spend hours posting on here trying to explain my point of view. I have no agenda to fulfill except to help others see a different picture the way I see it. If they accept it well and good and if not I honor and respect their point of view even though I may not subscribe to it and that is how it should be. I have asked in the past that you afford me the same respect and not try and slander my opinion or bring down my name by time and again trying to suggest I am in cahoots with GIGL just because I happen to have a different outlook than the rest of the board. I could very well say that you are one of the competitors pawn coming here to taint the good name of GIGL. It's easy to point fingers at someone who has a different point of view but it does not make you a better person and trying to insinuate something that is not true I consider slander and I ask you to please refrain from making such statements against my name in the future.
I think he's trying to get out of his own way which is why Phil is onboard as CO-CEO. He deserves another year with Phil by his side to see if anything is accomplished. If another year passes by without any positive momentum then I would truly doubt as well if they have what it takes to get this off the ground.
Personally I think Phil hasn't been truly engaged coz of his other commitments until recently and I think with him on board as a Co-CEO there is much to be hopeful for. I have said this in the past that if Phil leaves then I will at that point truly lose any hope for this company. For now I still believe in its potential.
True Parsi behaved terribly on the call but the reason he was frustrated was because of all the things that were being said about him on these boards. Still doesn't justify his actions but the cause of it is all the toxicity on this board for which we have to take responsibility as well. I also agree that he is not great as a CEO but I think he recognizes that which is why he surrounded himself with people from whom he can learn including Phil. I give him credit for trying. He may not be succeeding but the game isn't over yet. I wonder how many people will still be saying negative things about him when this company does manage to draw in enough capital and expand. Will people praise him then or be too busy counting their profits. Time will tell.
There is a difference in being negative and being practical. I am not making a case for not stating facts and holding people accountable but trying to do it in a negative way by name calling and being petty serves no purpose. If we truly want this to succeed it would behoove us to take a good look at ourselves and figure out what our true motives are. Are we here only to vent our own frustrations and bite the hand that might one day feed us or do we truly want to be supportive and encouraging that actually might work a lot better to help this concept?
Let's talk about JP as a person and look at facts. Here are concerns that have been raised:
1) Put's out bloated PR's: Found guilty and himself admitted on the call that he should not have put out the Bahrain PR without confirmation and promised never to do it again. Since then there have been no PR's.
2) Take's a hefty salary to the detriment of the company: He mentioned on the call that till 2006 did not take any salary after which he had to in order for his financial stability but over the course of the years has not taken any paychecks when the funds have been low. Also lowered his salary recently. This only shows his good character and is a positive IMO.
3) Has another catering company that might be taking away form GIGL's bottom line: JP addressed this on the call and said that the monies from the catering company feed into GIGL's bottom line. Only reason he did that is coz people want a more professional name that is more recognizable as a catering company to order from and the reason he started that is coz of the demand for food they were getting. I believe this is another good thing and shows good business acumen if anything.
4) Bitcoin support: Put out a PR for bitcoin but the locations do not accept bitcoin it appears. Something that should have been addressed on the call but was not brought up so we do not know the reasons behind this. Until we get to the bottom of it we should give him the benefit of the doubt.
5) Brand ambassadors roles: JP admitted they were not as successful as he had hoped and they not met their goals so he might let them go in the future and not go down that route again.
These are facts whether one chooses to believe them or not is another issue. Let’s have a healthy debate around the facts but let’s not turn it into a bash fest. We are all hoping for JP and his company to succeed so why take a route that is detrimental. Let’s try and give helpful not hurtful suggestions. We might find as a group it might serve us and our purpose better and also help bring in new investors who might actually be able to help. If you remember there was a fortune 50 investor on the call who was turned off after hearing all the negative comments made on the call. We took all this negativity and put it out there for everyone to see. Now its recorded on that call and any new investor who hears that call or goes to the boards will have no reason to invest. In the end bringing in this negativity into the picture is going to go against us as investors.
Agreed. I wish people would believe in the concept and be more supportive and realize that JP is for the investors not against. At some point things seemed like they were going in a more positive note but it didn't last long. If only people realized how powerful their words, thoughts and deeds are no one would ever focus on the negative as it serves no purpose but to promote selfishness and divisiveness.
Found an old article about Phillip on his Triple Enterprises website. Notice the GIGL reference.
GIGL on Triple Enterprises
Joey might now have the required expertise but I would surely place my bets on Phil. I think we all agree we have lost faith in Joey but we also mostly agree that Phil is better suited. We are just not sure how much he is invested in GIGL yet but from the shareholders conference I think we all gather that he is not just a bystander. Only time will tell if Phil is the silver lining for GIGL. I am putting my trust in him.
WoOoOooHoOoo! All aboard the GIGL train headed in a positive direction! Go GIGL!!!!
GIGL Train
Glad to hear people taking a more positive note. I agree that we should focus on Phil. As mentioned before if he ever leaves I will begin my mourning but till then let the bells of positivity toll and may it favor GIGL and all its investors! Gimme a G...gimme a I....gimme a G ....gimme a L....GO GIGL!
I like your suggesstion! *applause*
LOL I had never heard of the Swedish Chef but I love him..haha!!
The Swedish Chef Compilation
GIGL should totally hire him!!! :D
I wish that you were right
That I did have some Clout
Coz I would put up such a fight
And probably slap them with a Trout
Listen to reason I would say
Stop being a Clown
Pull up your pants
And let’s make GIGL a household Noun
My creative channeling for the day *takes a bow* :)
#1 Hire a sales & marketing team to go looking for angel investors. Talk to the players with deep pockets that can provide necessary funding and are in the catering to children industry. Issac Larian anyone? Seems to have enough money to float around....
Angel Investor bids for Toys R Us
#2 Start having Phil more involved and make him the public facing persona as he has more experience, is more of a people person, is more believable and likable and can pitch things better for the company.
#3 Do another go fund me campaign but make Phil the face of the company and let him pitch the vision. Have him use his clout and connections to help drive the campaign.
#4 Go on shark tank or similar shows and pitch your idea....beg and plead until they dish out a couple million! :D
#5 Apply for a kiva loan for the struggling business [*sees a picture of Joey standing around with 50 hungry wide eyed kids looking for a space to eat and play with the tag line 'A loan of $1000,000 helps helps us feed kids around the world healthy food and bring them joy and happiness along with giggles n hugs.'*] *giggles* :-p
Disclaimer: Last two suggestions are only intended for humor *smiles*
Zippity doo dah day.....
G'morning GIGL'ers!
Heard some good news about GIGL in the morning today from a very unexpected source that I can not disclose. Nothing of a 'Let me buy another 100k stock' kind of news but restored my confidence in GIGL. Go GIGL!
That was my observation based on how he handled himself during the call. I tend to think I am a pretty good judge of character and Phil came across as a salt of the earth guy. Frankly if I was here making a case for GIGL and knew Phil and Joey I would do a lot better than posting a couple of posts a month but perhaps spam the board like some of the people here in order to be heard. I don't have any affiliations with GIGL except I want them to succeed for the sake of my own holdings and I don't I care if you think I do. Time will tell how things play out.
Faith can move mountains can it not. I am hoping GIGL is more like a hill to move than a mountain...LOL
Keeping my faith in GIGL going for now. If Phil leaves the company I will then begin my mourning ritual...for now I trust in Phil's experience to guide this company to the light and climb the hill. So be it!
Yep my first lot was 23 cents and it was because of the Bahrain deal rumors that I got in apart from the fact that I believed in the concept which is rare for penny stocks. The only reason I have kept this stock is because of its potential. Unfortunately as the stock fell I had to keep lowering my average and I ended up investing more than I really wanted to. I have to believe in this as the other side of the coin does not bode well for me.
Yes I understand your frustration all too well but as I said not believing in this is not an option I want to even consider. I would rather be hopeful and optimistic then to worry about seeing my finances burn. Honestly if I felt at all yesterday that Joey and Phil were lying to us I would be first to call on them as I do tend to have a good intuition about people especially when they are lying. I did not feel they were trying to be dishonest. Phil is an honest man and a good guy and he was gentlemanly about the whole thing. The only uncomfortable thing was to see Joey venting his own frustration but I also understood why as this board has not been kind to him and if I were in his shoes and saw my dream being torn apart I would be a bit frustrated too but would have handled it differently and in a more gentlemanly manner. I believe in Phil and I hope Joey will learn from him and be kinder to his investors form now on.
March 24, 2017 was my first purchase and I have made 53 purchases since to lower my average cost which now stands at .04/share.
And no I am not connected to Joey in any way but am a shareholder with about 50K worth of shares so I stand to loose a lot along with some of the other longs on here.
If you want to have a go at it by all means please do so but do me the courtesy of not calling my post 'crap' or telling me not to post my views. I have as much a right to my opinions as you unless you feel your opinions are the only ones that matter in which case I would question your motives for being here .
I don't believe at any point he blamed shareholders nor is he in it just to make money off the shareholders (if his not taking a salary till 2006 and over many months is to be believed).
I think he is genuinely trying but not getting a break. That was my read on it atleast.
Yesterday’s call shed some light on some of the pressing questions. Just want to summarize the main highlights which were points of contention on this board
1. Why Joey is Co-CEO: Joey & Phil clarified that Phil did not have the time given his other commitments to take on a full time CEO role and Joey who has been running the business will perform day to day tasks that he is already familiar with leaving Phil with the main tasks of applying his expertise to other areas like growth.
2. Joey’s Salary: Has been downsized to $225K down from $300K. He also said that there were many months where he did not pay himself a salary as there was not enough money available. He also mentioned that till 2006 he did not take any salary at all but later had to give himself a salary to have some income. He also invested $2 million of his own money to keep it afloat.
3. Bahrain LOI: Joey admitted he made the mistake of putting out a PR just on the LOI and he should have waited for a signed, sealed and delivered deal before putting out a PR. The deal feel through because they could not find a place in the mall they were looking at as the mall refused them and they did not have proper financing. Joey promised never again to put out anything that is not ‘Signed, Sealed & Delivered’
4. Rights Offering: The rights offering generated about $350K after cuts and other expenses were paid off which is not enough for opening another location. They said they need about $1.2 million to open a new location.
5. No Expansion yet: The biggest issue here is their credit and not having enough capital on hand which the rights offering did not generate. The malls are offering to pay upto 70% of the build out costs to have them in the mall but they have to show good credit which they do not have currently.
6. Reeds Inc. mention on the 10Q form: Joey was not aware of it and hinted that their legal firm who has Reed’s as a client may have made a mistake by using an old form previously used for Reed’s Inc. Joey said he will look into it and get back to people interested in this matter if anyone emails him about it.
7. Franchising: Many are interested in franchising opportunities but until last year GIGL was not ready to bring anyone on board because the necessary paperwork and guidelines had not yet been instituted.
8. Going forward: They are trying to partner with competitors in the area who host birthday parties to see if they can saturate the birthday party scene as 30% of their revenue comes from parties. Franchising is also not a viable option since they have the necessary things in place bring franchises onboard so will be looking into that as well. Also talks with Rand Ferris is in the works to tap into his expertise.
Please fill in if I missed anything. My takeaway from this is that they are being honest in their answers. Having Phil on the call made a big difference as he was the voice of calm and reason even though Joey was visibly angry presumably at all the ‘lies’ being told on this message board and wanted only to address them and set them to rest. He has some learning to do as a person and CEO in dealing with difficult situations and people but I believe with Phil by his side things will go better. Looking forward to a much more promising shareholders update and call.
I think Joey has some ways to grow as a person and as a CEO and he can learn a few tips from Phil. However I don't think he is dishonest and his not taking a salary when there wasn't money available speaks to his good side that really wants the company to succeed. I haven't lost faith and still believe in the concept. I hope together they can make it grow.
Good summary thanks
I posted a question about that to the Toponga branch on Yelp via PM and got no response back.
That was supposed to emoji not question marks. Ihub really needs an update to a modern look and feel!
I like the way you think!????
