Nice, I'm a fan of BB's too! I used to have the old Tour, loved it till I was due for an upgrade and BB wasn't offering any phones with comparable specs to other smartphones... hence my switch to iPhone... Regardless of what happens to this stock, I want to see the Q10, it might very well be my next phone.
You can have a huge screen, fast processor, tons of memory etc... but nothing will make you type faster than having a full qwerty keyboard like the Q10.
Market turned, BBRY did too. Now we are seeing low volume but still trending up.
'We have now increased our production capacity.' - BlackBerry CEO, Thorsten Heins
I've seen this chart before! :) last time, this region was the buy zone
Do you flop to the other side when BBRY hits these sub-14 prices? This isn't being setup for another run like last week, is it?
1990s? I was using a Nokia brick in the 90s lol
Thanks for the kind words :). Traders have been raving about BBRY, they never want this to end. I'm optimistic about BBRY, but am not ignorant to what some analysts have said and the reviews made by tech-blogs. I really hope BBRY comes back, as do many here, but until we have confirmation, we should all trade accordingly. Best of luck to everyone on Tuesday!
BTW, I'm not involved in day-trading nearly as much as most here, and do not have the kind of cash flow to make money off pumping. I'm value my integrity, not trying to fool anyone here, just my honest opinion!
I'm definitely not a professional advisor, and I only have a few years experience in the trading game, but I'm definitely what most would consider to be an extremely sharp and clever kid. 25 years old, self-taught in politics, software development, trading, auto mechanics, electrical, and so much more.
IMHO, BBRY is a great long term bet. From right now till the time we see some sales figures, BBRY will trade between 12-17ish due to the amount of volume we've seen on the ticker since a few weeks before the BB10 launch. Traders are killing it on this. My friend has been swing trading this ticker for 5-10k profits every day.
If you think about the concept of trading and "investing" in stocks, you'll realize that the money you make comes from the pocket of someone else who bought the stock you cashed out. Right now, as the retail investor $$$ pours in on speculation, pros aren't taking any chances and are cutting profits every day. The PPS will break loose from this channel once sales figures come out and some big money comes in as INVESTMENT.
Thursday was a perfect example of what's going on here. Monday was red, tuesday red, and on wednesday, the former CEO unloaded the rest of his shares, causing even more red. Shorts thought this was too easy and many actually thought this would go back down to pre-hype levels... They were wrong. A gap down on thursday, followed by tremendous buying, triggered a nice short squeeze resulting in straight rallying all day to close 8% up.
Friday, the day before a 3 day long weekend, had no volume. A lot of people looked at the chart and thought Friday was too obvious and called a green day. AH on thursday made the price soar another $0.50 from the close. When the bulls weren't there, the all the remaining shorts were easily able to close their positions without chasing, none of these guys would old over the weekend, thats too scary.
Monday, I expect some more green, who knows, maybe all the retail speculators have put all their money in for now, but the current PPS still has $1.50 to go before it hits the top of the channel, so we might see some buying.
If you're going LONG and want to hold into some numbers, I'd look for a nice entry point around $13. It might not get back down there, we seem to be consolidating to $14.
I'm a BBRY fan, I used to own the tour and loved it until it started to shit the bed, and went with an iPhone. I don't like the fact that Android runs on so many devices, you'll never have software as robust as the software for BB's and iPhones, simply because there are too many devices to support.
I'm a software developer, I understand how these things work. The Z10 is essentially a Samsung galaxy s3 hardware wise, and software wise, is in no way related to the old BB7 that used to make the phones so trash. I haven't touched the Z10, but from what I read, they've stayed true to their fundamental beliefs, but have outsourced much of the design, hardware, and software to experienced and technology focused companies. As long as this new QNX software is robust, I believe BBRY should see an uptrend in sales, which means an uptrend in PPS. I believe, if successful in gaining market share, we could see 150% gains from these levels in a relatively short period of time.
Teff I feel like I'm watching America unwind when I read about the dorner shit. It's insane man, dorner stoops to the lowest level, cops stoop to his level, dorner supporters stoop to the cops level, then cop supporters stoop to everyone's level with ignorant, almost mind-controlled, comments like "I'm glad that **** burned alive".... Smh, at least we can play promos while it lasts :/
:) u da man
Gotcha, I mean no offense to police and do not wanna have a convo here. It's just disheartening to here about a man lose his job like that. When his mentors couldn't defend him because they have families to feed just shows how flawed the system is. I'm not really focused on his shooting spree, I'm focused on how a government agency could push someone so far. The government should always be the bigger man, this should not have got this far. Now that it's said and done, I agree, his result does not make him a good man. It appears to me that he WAS a good man before all of this. Our law enforcement creates bad people when they target defenseless citizens. Even a speeding ticket... You give one out wrongfully to some river in a civic, knowing he has no chance in court, then that kid loses his license, his job, and is more likely to be a criminal. That's just one theoretical situation, I can come up with hundreds more.
I think what should be taken from this is, everyone should be the judge of what they believe is right and what is wrong. Take the law, absorb it, and understand it. People these days are too soft, everyone's constantly on alert, waiting to call foul on someone else for their own personal gain.
I woulda PMd you, but I don't pay for this bulllllll anymore :)
Please fill me in, I would hate to place judgement on misinformation. What i see is the LAPD brotherhood firing a man who tried to live up to the image of the ideal police officer. He fought legally and was shut up by the law. When the law can't provide justice, how can you say the law is right?
Any man knows, when you see your brother go down in a fight, you're instinct is to help your brother, whether he's right or wrong. Sometimes the feeling of belonging/brotherhood can make people do things they normally wouldn't do alone.
I read his memorandum, he doesn't sound like an irrational person at all. What puzzles me is, if nothing illegal happened to him, why was a seemingly intelligent and respectable man driven to this extreme? Please explain.
I don't support the murder or the use of violence, but at the same time, I can't think of a way to get a point across like he did. It's unfortunate he was turned into what he was, nobody hurt in this incident deserved it, it's very sad, same for all innocent people who die. I just want to know exactly why an ideal cop would turn, and what is going to be done to RESOLVE the issue. We have too many patches for problems in our society, all reaction.
RIP Chris Dorner. Thanks teff for that article, the media did a pretty solid job keeping this story away from the public.
A good man, who learned early that life isn't fair. A navy vet and skilled police officer who held on to his morals and never broke them in order to join the LAPD brotherhood. Anyone who says he wasn't a good man, f*ck you. The Chris Dorner who murdered those police officers was a result of a failed system which has been established to provide justice. I've never read about someone who has sacrificed everything to restore their name and fight for what's right. It's unfortunate this had to happen, but something had to happen. People are casualties in the pursuit of justice all the time, the 2 women shot by the LAPD for driving the wrong car, they were casualties of the LAPDs pursuit of justice.
People who judge what's right and wrong based on a rule book written by someone they don't know are feeble minded. You take the law, absorb the law, the understand the law. Playing by a hard coded rule book is how America got here today. The smart and savvy took the book, read it, absorbed it, then used their knowledge to make money.
Only thing painted worse by the media than BBRY is Chris Dorner's fight for justice.
I love what he's done. He's not a liar, he's fighting for what he believes in, and since America has gone soft, he's waking everyone the fuck up.
Key words "for me." Lol, that shit has been crashing on me for like a decade now.
Apple bout to shoot itself in the foot again with an iPad mini, for almost everyone it makes more sense to not buy to retardly huge one for 8 bills or so when you can get the mini for 3.
I'm not taking what people say into consideration like you are.
I'm looking at numbers. BBRY is trading at its book value because of its 2 year vacation. My thinking is BBRY maintains it's position now, with room to grow now that they sell new phones.
If the Nokia lumina sold 12 million phones, 27 million phones is most def a possibility, especially with 10 million enterprise customers expected to upgrade.
27mil phones sold would equate to $4 EPS.
The amount of bashing on BBRY only tells me that those with the power to bash feel the same as me, it's an obvious buy. Analysts write articles to help the every day investor make good investments, right???? LOLOLOLOL
Yup, I've been following BBRY since a month before the release. I was a crackberry person back in the day but switched the iPhone when BBRY stopped staying current with technology.
I've always loved BBRY for allowing users to use the phone for what a smartphone should be able to do. I like the way they work, but the old OS clearly had issues (I'm a software developer).
The new BBRYs are developed from the ground up. The phones were built using investments, rather than the existing team who got too comfortable riding the enterprise wave.
When I read the articles about blackberry, it seemed like an obvious buy. BBRY needs to survive, not win. I'm looking for BBRY to trade at P/E's comparable with the industry. Whether or not they survive really isn't a question. If you live in America, you're blind to BBRY because your smothered in iPhone.
BBRY loses home depot = -10k in sales. Unbelievable how much bashing goes on here, 10k phones is nothing, we're talking about 10's of millions in sales here...
Analysts know that RIMM is trading at book value and that if they can take a small slice of the market back, their PPS will greatly undervalue the company (~27mil BB10s sold = ~$4.00 eps).
Analysts are doing their job, and that's to help us make smart investments, right?
BBs will sell. There's more hype here than there was for the lumina (which sold 14mil units). RIMM needs to stay alive, that's it, in order for the PPS to go up.
I'm sorry, but an analyst has no right telling me whether or not a smart phone is good... That's the job of blogs like redmondpie or gizmodo... And those guys think BB10s are sweet. Nevermind the fact that these analysts haven't even touched the phones. Tech blogs get early beta versions so they can give input etc.
The public will like BB, not everyone, but iPhone people would never go to android and android people would never go to iPhone. There's only 3 choices for smartphone OS's right now, I'm pretty sure there's room for a 4th...
Awesome haha thanks PW. Found it on YouTube, perfect
He was on a dating show?... Did he teach the girls how to turn their bar mitzvah money into millions by shorting penny stocks?
This just in: Timmy Sykes makes $5,000 while chilling with beautiful girls
OK, I'm not playing here, but this one interests me so much since I'm a huge tech fan as well as an IT professional. Tell me what you guys think about this....
First of all, I highly doubt that BB10 will be a flop. Developers are developers, and whether or not software is robust depends on how much time and effort went into the development. BB used to ride the enterprise wave, not meeting the average consumer's needs. Updates seemed to patch a faulty OS and made the phone slower and slower. This is a SOFTWARE PROBLEM. They've proved they know how to use the latest technologies by smoking the iPhone 5 on the browser test (doesn't iPhone use the webkit plugin that BB made popular?). So as far as the software, I don't think this will be an issue. There's been time and money dedicated to building a new OS from the ground up. This time, they can learn from their mistakes, while taking hints from others (iOS, Android). If these guys didn't come up with a robust OS for BB10, they should be fired.
My second thought is... BBM now has text and voice. In my opinion, anything that isn't an iPhone is essentially a Droid (I own an iPhone, but I've owned everything, BB's and Droids). The people who buy Droids are fanboys (which are very few in reality) and people who can't afford iPhones (Droids come out every minute and the old one always gets cheaper).
With that in mind, anyone who isn't an iPhone user and in the market for a new smart phone should be considering the BlackBerry, along with Droids and Windows phones. BB has a distinct advantage of having a very popular and well known messaging app, BBM. It's free. You can text for free, now you can call for free, ONLY with other BBM users. I'm thinking... with a little help from celebrities or maybe some tech blogs, the BB can penetrate the market, and if the OS is good, can spread through word of mouth, etc. I bought a BB back in the day to BBM with friends. I'm thinking the blackberry can be the new Nextel, Boost Mobile, etc.... You know what I'm saying... T-Mobile has unlimited data, and all the people I know on T-Mobile are broke. It's perfect.
Soon enough, rappers might be rapping about blackberries again in their songs.
EDIT: ALSO!!! I read an analyst article that said if RIMM sells 29 million phones, that would equate to $4.XX EPS, which could bring it back into the $50s. The Nokia lumina + whatever the other one was sold 14 mil. The hype behind the BB10 release is HUGE compared to the lumina and BB is releasing SIX phones, not TWO.
Exactly what I was thinking the days after I sold!
I'm with you, I'll rethink adding a position after they dip it hard
Exactly, WHO CARES?? Lol, I'm not into getting burned by promos like I did on GWBU...
