Complete your portable computing experience with a full range of accessories in the Future Shop Laptop Accessory Kit.
What's included:
Headset and Microphone
While many laptops come with an integrated microphone and speaker they may not be the best option for you at all times; a headset is perfect for listening to music, podcasts or any recorded material with a greater degree of privacy (along with the added bonus of not disturbing those around you). The headset and microphone combination included with the Laptop Accessory Kit offers high quality audio through a pair of comfortable stereo headphones with ear cushions along with a 2m cable, and an omni-directional boom microphone with built-in wind screen. The boom microphone rotates up and out of the way when not in use and offers an accurate hi-fi audio input. This combination is perfect for Voice Over IP (VOIP) solutions like Skype, AIM, Yahoo messenger or MSN messenger. This can make communicating with friends, family or business associates much easier (and less expensive!) while at school or on the road.
Portable Laptop Lock
The security of your laptop is incredibly important; while you can secure your data through the use of strong passwords and encryption, those methods can be broken given enough time. It's essential to make sure that you don't put your data or your laptop purchase at risk by securing it everywhere you go. The Laptop Accessory Kit includes a high quality laptop lock; it's simple to use and easy to set up. With a strong, reliable 1m coated steel cable and a rugged steel four tumbler locking mechanism you'll be ready to compute anywhere with confidence in the security of your machine.
1GB Flash Drive
A flash drive is an excellent way to make sure that you're prepared for anything at school or on the road; load the documents you need on the go onto the drive to make sure you can work on them anywhere - on your own laptop, at an internet cafe, in class or at the office. You can even load your favourite portable applications directly onto the USB drive for use with any computer. This 1GB drive includes indicator lights for power and data transfer and supports auto-run for quick access to your data. The drive is compatible with all current versions of Windows (from 98 through to XP and Vista), Mac OS 9, all versions of Mac OS X and Linux 2.4.1 and higher.
Wireless Optical Mouse
While trackpads are excellent solutions on the go, a more precise input can be desirable. The Wireless Optical Mouse that comes with the Laptop Accessory Kit is a simple and excellent tool. This mouse is plug and play - which means there's no driver installation. Simply remove the conveniently stored transmitter from inside the mouse body, plug it into your laptop and get to work! The Wireless Optical Mouse is 800dpi - high resolution for precise control. There are 256 ID codes that are used by the transmitter to help reduce interference. The mouse uses advanced auto-sleep functions to help maximize battery life.
Screen Cleaning Kit with Storage Pouch
Laptops are meant for travel; whether it's to class, the library, the cafe or to the office, they're on the go with you. During your travels you will find that your laptop screen may find itself home to dust, debris, fingerprints and other undesirables that make your computing experience less than optimal. With the Screen Cleaning Kit in the Laptop Accessory Kit you've got everything you need to ensure that you screen stays in ship shape and that you're always getting the clearest picture. The kit includes a soft micro fibre cleaner that will clean your screen without scratching the surface (it's also great for LCD monitors, plasma TVs and can even be used to clean CDs and DVDs!). The laptop screen cleaning solution fits neatly inside the handle of the kit and provides you with a no-streak option for cleaning those more stubborn problems like fingerprints. The kit stows away neatly and can be carried in the storage section of many popular laptop bags and cases.
Neoprene laptop sleeve
This rugged laptop sleeve will help keep your laptop free of debris, dirt, scratches and scuffs. The sleeve is made of rugged neoprene - tough, yet soft on your laptop surface. It sports a sturdy nylon zipper to keep your laptop secured. This sleeve is perfect for laptops up to 15.4" inches in size, covering the vast majority of laptops available.

"Pending news" could be good
Headed for consolidation end of year (month) --- not a huge deal for an ETF as for a stock but worthy of note .... imo
Typical even if news is good, but definitely maintains the markets interest for future trading opportunities.
Lenders are cooperative which augurs well long term for VRS, but short term we may see "sell on news" wave.

Gryphon Gold appoints Kaiser to board
2008-12-18 17:33 ET - News Release
Mr. John Key reports
GRYPHON GOLD APPOINTS MARVIN K. KAISER TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Gryphon Gold Corp. has appointed Marvin K. Kaiser to the board of directors, audit committee and compensation committee of Gryphon Gold. Mr. Kaiser comes to Gryphon with 30 years in the natural resources industry and brings financial expertise to the board.
Mr. Kaiser graduated from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale and began his career in the field of public accounting, becoming a certified public accountant in 1965. His career in the natural resources industry began in 1969 with Ranchers Exploration and Development Corp., where he held various positions, including chief financial officer and senior vice-president until the company was combined with Hecla Mining Company, in 1984. Mr. Kaiser also served as chief financial officer of Amax Gold Inc. from 1989 until 1993 when Amax Inc. was combined with Cyprus Mining. Subsequent to leaving Amax, Mr. Kaiser joined The Doe Run Company as chief financial officer. At the time of his retirement from Doe Run in 2006, he held the positions of executive vice-president and chief administrative officer.
Following his retirement, Mr. Kaiser formed Whippoorwill Consulting LLC, which provides financial advisory services to the natural resources industry. He presently serves as a director of several publicly traded mining/exploration companies as well as the Southern Illinois University Foundation.

Mr. Kaiser's experience will be extremely valuable in the near-term market, in the eventual development of the Borealis gold mine, and in building Gryphon Gold into a mid-tier gold company.

I noticed Osooyos which is supposed to be the only desert area in Canada is -15 degrees Celsius these days.
My brother goes to Sweden regularly and he loves it there.
Never had so much now as in last two years and bitterly cold.
Calgary is -28 degrees Celsius that does not include wind chill factor.
Here in Ottawa, we are expected to get 45 cm of snow on the weekend.

Winter wallop grounds hundreds of flights at Toronto's Pearson Airport
2 hours, 7 minutes ago
By Tamsyn Burgmann, The Canadian Press
TORONTO - The first of a trio of wintry wallops expected before Christmas fully delivered on Environment Canada's prediction of "snow-mageddon" for the holidays, with hundreds of flights grounded Friday on one of the busiest travel days of the year.
With major airport hubs like Toronto, Chicago and New York cancelling scores of trips, holiday travellers questioned whether they would make it to yuletide gatherings - including one family whose journey from B.C. to Nova Scotia had entered its third day.
The culprit: a volatile mix of snow and high winds.
At least 20 centimetres of the white stuff was expected across Ontario before the storm was expected to push eastward, whipped up by 60 km/h winds that reduced visibility on runways and roads alike.
Hundreds of collisions were reported on Ontario's highways and roads.
At Pearson International Airport, Scott Cook, his wife Gloria and their 19-year-old daughter Samantha crossed their fingers that their journey from Terrace, B.C., to Halifax - which began Wednesday - would have a happy ending.
Their Christmas holiday in Halifax will mark the first time in 14 years they've visited Gloria's side of the family - if and when they get there.
The family was scheduled to fly out of Toronto at 12:30 p.m. Friday, but the weather scrubbed that plan.
Cook said they were keeping their fingers crossed that a promised 9 p.m. flight Friday night would get them on their way.
More than 300 flights - about one-quarter of Pearson's usually daily total - were cancelled, with many others delayed Friday, the last day of work or school for many before the Christmas holiday break.
"It's been a challenge getting from British Columbia," Gloria Campbell-Cook said.
The family's flight from Terrace, B.C., to Vancouver was weather-delayed Wednesday, and when they finally arrived in Toronto early Thursday, they missed their connecting flight by 40 minutes. At first, they were told there were no flights to Halifax until Monday, but then it was determined they could fly out Friday.
Observing the swirling flurries through Pearson's enormous windows, Scott Cook said he was concerned the 9 p.m. flight would be cancelled as well.
"Looking at the weather, I'm not confident at all," he said as his blanket-wrapped daughter nodded.
"I'm hoping that we get out for Christmas, but I have my doubts."
On Wednesday, Environment Canada outlined predictions for a series of snowfalls in a weather bulletin, adding "could this be snow-mageddon?"
"Environment Canada is generally not prone to exaggeration," the special weather statement read.
"The term 'snow-mageddon' is not meant to alarm anyone or make light of the situation, but to highlight the cumulative effects and impacts that a series of snowstorms can have on a wide region."
The next blast was expected to roll into Ontario late Saturday, with a third predicted for mid-week.
Stranded travellers passed the time at Pearson by chatting on cellphones, rebooking flights, attending prayer services at an on-site chapel, and making merry with the airport Santa Claus.
Others took a more creative approach. A pair of brothers from Nanaimo, B.C., waiting for an evening flight hit a squash ball back and forth against one of the airport's glass walls.
The two, travelling with their mother, were on their way to a squash competition in Connecticut, but they were concerned the storm would cause them to miss it.
"Nature is nature," said their mother Pam Lewis. "We have to roll with the punches, don't we?"
After their early-morning flight was cancelled, they tried to get a bus to Connecticut, but found that was impossible.
"It sucks, but it'll be fine as long as we get there in time for my match," said 16-year-old K'odi Lewis-Willie.
While the snow started flying at Pearson at about 8 a.m., the early delays and cancellations were mainly due to problems at other airports.
The storm was moving eastward across Canada after hitting the U.S. Midwest earlier. More than 300 flights were cancelled at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport, and ahead of the storm, more than 500 were cancelled at New York City-area airports.
In Vancouver, a homeless woman burned to death in a shopping cart she was using as a shelter early Friday morning after lighting a fire to stay warm as temperatures plummeted far below normal.
North of Toronto, at least five people were sent to hospital with serious injuries after a chain-reaction crash on the southbound Highway 400.
About 100,000 people were expected to pass through Pearson on Friday.
Fearing they wouldn't make it to the airport through the snow, scores of passengers arrived extra early. With mounds of luggage beside them, many snoozed or tapped away on laptops.
Ferdinand Nelson and his wife Eleta, from Brampton, Ont. - some 20 minutes from the airport - arrived before 9 a.m. only to discover their 1:30 p.m. flight to Kingston, Jamaica, had been delayed until 9 p.m.
"I figure this will be an experience, right?" Nelson said, chuckling. "But once we get off the ground and get through that, we'll be fine."
Few school buses were operating in southwestern Ontario and in some communities east of Toronto, including Peterborough and Cobourg. Schools were also closed for the day in anticipation of the storm.
