well in some cases, but in some cases not. The mobile operator, in this case T-mobile, has an agreement with T-mobile to sell the phones in one or another way. Software can be included in these packages by the operator. For instance through the Sim-Card. The way BT will sell through Alcatel is by including in a package with Sim-Card maker Gemplus and then selling this to mobile operators such as Telenor (Norway), Ntt Docomo or T-Mobile. But there are other ways to include such software. The mobile operator may also have pre installed software on the phone they are selling. But in this case I have now idea, I am just guessing that since the guy with phone where using T-Mobile that maybe it was Segue Roaming Client he was using.
Look, you can tease as well, hehe. I am not offended at all, hehe. But seriously i think T-mobile may provide the software in this solution through the Pctel Segue Roaming Client, but i might be wrong. Guess there will be a lot of fuzz with this phone as well. Just as the IPaq 6300 (I know its not a phone, hehe).
just teasing you, hehe. And MIP are related to Birdstep. Seriously I`m just curious to se what this really is. My closest guess is Segue Roaming Client, and that T-mobile is behind this, but not sure.
So that means they won`t send out any PR`s until september 22.?
I have checked the site. There is a good chance that the solution is really provided by T-Mobile and not Motorola, since the guy uses T-Mobile. As you all probably know T-Mobile has an agreement with Pctel, and Pctels: Segue Roaming Client, will automaticly detect the nearest hotspot, but it is not seamless. I might be wrong here, but it is my guess.
Well i don`t know about that Nokia is realising their 9500 in late 04. By the way. A nice group of people visited Birdstep to have all little presentation for som people to days ago. Amougst them Susan Macke from Nokia. I wonder why? But to stay with the topic, are you sure this is a solution which provides seamless roaming, or is it just ordinary roaming like Pctel provides?
extremly expensive, but anyway interesting:

These new Cisco IOS® Software-based ruggedized products also allow customers to utilize Cisco wired and wireless backhaul points to connect wireless coverage areas that can scale across a city.
Cisco Metropolitan Mobile Networks help Protect the Community
Cook County, Illinois needed to provide high-speed broadband wireless connectivity to enhance first responders' capabilities to prepare for and respond to events and emergencies and to keep citizens of the community safe. Once the first phase of deployment is completed, the solution will enable first responders to share text, image, and video information across jurisdictional boundaries in a fast, secure and efficient manner.
"Recent events have taught valuable lessons in preparedness and the need for interagency cooperation in the development of communication technology that is interoperable, facilitates collaboration, and augments human resources," said Catherine Maras O'Leary, CIO, Cook County. "With the Cisco Metropolitan Mobile Network solution, Cook County is in a better position to deliver valuable tools to enable first responders to be more efficient and safety is improved by getting timely information into their hands."
London's Westminster City Council has a vision to create a "Wireless City" that will help reduce crime; provide real time information to city officials to manage street services such as parking, premises licensing, and environment waste; assist with special events; and deliver community based services such as e-learning. Working with Cisco, the Council is deploying video-surveillance that will result in a 30% savings from rapid Wi-Fi deployment of approximately 50 cameras.
"The 'Wireless City' pilot is one of the most exciting developments in Westminster's history and is already delivering benefits to the Council and the police in our fight against crime," said Simon Norbury, CIO at the City of Westminster. "The emphasis of the project is on street management so that the CCTV network will be used to both help in the battle against crime, but also to direct council resources to where they are needed more quickly and efficiently to increase our productivity and reduce cost. The Cisco solution combines a wireless access network - for flexibility and mobility - with a wired network core providing high capacity, scalability and resilience."
Building an Ecosystem of Partners
Cisco is committed to working with partners to deliver a comprehensive solution for public sector customers:
Systems Integrators - To deliver the end-to-end Cisco Metropolitan Mobile Network solution, Cisco has engaged with industry-leading partners including large scale integrators such as IBM and Northrop Grumman and regional integrators such as Wireless Resources, Inc.
Hardware Integration Partners - To create complementary hardware components and hardware-based application designs for the Cisco 3200 Series, Cisco's partners include Western Datacom which has recently announced a cellular modem interface card and hardware acceleration encryption card in the same form factor as other interface cards in the Cisco 3200 Series. Technology Alternatives has developed a networked video surveillance solution for public safety vehicles, incorporating the Cisco 3200 Series. And for use of the Cisco 3200 Series Wireless Router outside, ICI Networks and Rittal Corporation provide solutions for ruggedized enclosure hardware to meet harsh environmental requirements.
"Real-time decision-making and the need for first responders and city officials to access and process information dynamically is becoming increasingly important as the demand to improve security, productivity and operational efficiency becomes more critical," said Paulette Altmaier, Vice President and General Manager, Premises Communications Business Unit, Cisco Systems, Inc. Well, they are still spreading information to selected people like you. It`s not that difficult to keep something like that in the company, serious company do that you know!
Well wouldn`t say enjoy. It just think it is a bad way to threat investors, by spreading sensitive information. And this is NOT the first time, i remember on of the agreements, the stock went up the day before and where down next day, this is probably beacuse innsiders are spreading information and that is not good. If Clyw had been listed somewhere they would have been investigated and probably charged, beacuse information about the innsidere spreading news, is available on a couple of stock boards like this. Not good at all! Very late with filing and innsiders spreading information!!
And isn`t it quite strange and a quite bad habbit to spread such a information to a selectiv group of investors. Maybe thats why CLYW isn`t on AMEX, beacuse insiders spread senstive information. Not good, not good at all!!!
And what kind of award is this? Any link to the ones giving out the award?
and still they can`t file on time. I wonder what the problem is with the result. Lack of funding?
I`m not THAT interested, but I a, just wondering how long they could keep up with this without getting some serious problems. We are talking about quite a delay and there has to be a serious reason for this. No one is that late withouth one or another problem.
When will such a warning sign occur? After 30.6?
I was wondering. What happens if CLYW fails to file before July? A fine or someting? It is now well over a month since Clyw should have filed.
Interesting, but they are for sure. Pushing themselves a bit, hehe. But for wifi to compete with 2,5 ang 3G they need to improve speed even more and it looks like this is happening. I thin carriers will be more focused on delivering several types of net in a box rather than choosing one solution. Even Vodafone have jumped the hotspot boom lately and they`ve been the most deffensive player so far, so this is interesting.
But no news from the conference?
Dodgy equity is one thing. It is the cash balance that is interesting.
Once again. Where is this coming from? Anyone who can prove this? All I know is that the 1.quarter filing is late. It seems to me that somone has spread a rumour, but i seen now confirmation of this rumour anywhere. Main focus should be the filing which is WAY to late. And that should be a bigger concern amoungst the investors.
who will loan money to a company without any equity? And who can confirm that someone actually have loaned money to CLYW or is this just silly rumours? remember 1. quarter result is stil not here, almost 1 month late!...
The BT announcment was for their hotspot software and not directly Mobile IP Client, even though the Hotspot software support Mobile IP Client. What i found strange is that in the company profiles, CLYW is the only which isn`t described with booth number, all the other is, why? Isn`t CLYW supposed to be standing at booth 522, or is that wrong? Comments?
Lots of patents involve Mobile IP. This patent don`t affect Birdsteps patent.
Yeah, actually I agree to that. If they had told anyone the reason it would be a bigger concern, beacuse that would be sharing information to only a selected group. But anyway i think its strange that they haven`t followed up with any news regarding their result since the 17/5 filing.
well, this is a company that is almost one month late with their filing. Didn`t the may 17 filing say maximum 5 days late? Well its been 21 day now! What is taking so long?
Well, do as you like. If you want to hear more about the IPzone software you can check out the event in Baltimore, beacuse some guy at a norwegian board just said that they will realese their new and updated version. Maybe that will clear some things for you?
In cdma Mobil IP is prohibted as far as i know. Most hotspots are configured for Mobile IP, specially hotspots with software from Birdstep, which is quite a few in Europe. Vodafone and T-Mobile as an example.
I think this statement shows that you have gone a little overboard with your supposedly knowledge of the Mobile IP client technology. And i can assure that Birdstep is not making their one MIP server, and if they did, it would be so they could provide both an open solution (which they have today) and a gready locked solution who carriers sometimes want to trick consumer to stay on their nets. Anyway Birdstep is NOT developing a MIP server, but they have a IP-ZONE server in addtion to other IP-Zone!
BS, Birdstep is not developing their on MIP server! I don`t know where you got this, but it is wrong. Maybe you mixing it with their IP-zone server, which is something completly different, they have sold the IP-zone for a couple of years and it has allready been acepted by companies like T-mobile and Vodafon. T-mobile is using it in Great Britain.
Ok, good luck!
There have been sucessful tests with VOIP also! And of course you are speculating, we all are. BT is the only one with an open solution that can work with several vendors, so it is not strange that they are the first ones who ha gotten this to work. Remember that they have teamed up with other companies in their Alcatel and Ericsson offerings, this is to solve som challenges. For instance you can check out Speedwise from Orsus that are solving som compressing problems together with BT. The Nortel agreement is the only agreement which don`t involve other companies (Alcatel=Alcate/Gemplus and BT). That is way I am saying that Nortel is not 100% behind this. The Nortel agreement is driven by others who have tested and wants the BT client!
That is a quite strange statement from you? There have been several sucessful tests with for example Cisco and others. There have probably also been some not so good tests, but I think you are milking you`re cause here! Do you think companies would have signed Birdstep for commercial agreements without sucessful tests?
I don`t know about ABEW but i think BT can used on most radio freq! I mean dose that are most common today.
I found it now. It is the same application filed in Norway. I don`t know anything about this. Thank you, hehe!
I couldn`t find anythin. Expect an old database patent that is not needed anymore. They`re patents are pending and the application prosess is not finshed. They filed to patents in late 2002 regarding their Mobile IP client solution. They where filed in Norway and that is just as good as a filing i US. Just think about it, why should CLYW patent filed in US mean more in Europe than Bird patent filed in Europe in US? Us is not above Europe when it comes to patents or law. So patent filed in Norwasy is just as good as a patent filed in US. If Birdstep filed a patent in US, then it is beacuse a worker based in the Seattle office invented the patent. Otherwise claims from Birdstep comes in Norway!
Here is the norwegian application from 2002. 2 patents, page 21 and page 22! Sorry, it is in Norwegian but you`ll find the words patent and Birdstep Technology.
http://www.patentstyret.no/upload/filarkiv/tidende/patenttidende/2002/ir-patent34-2002.pdf
hehe. No i mean Birdstep investors, sorry about that. Don`t you think i would have a greater knowledge of technology if a actually worked with it? Sorry, about that. In Norway it is no secret amongst investors that carriers pushed Nortel into signing Birdstep beacuse of successfull testing amongst some major companies. Nortel are not negativ towards BT, but somewhat deffensive ( can`t find the right word) when it comes to Birdstep. This is not the case with Alcatel and not Ericsson. Cisco have another realtionship with Birdstep they are trying to make their solutions work togheter and Cisco prefer BT solution, but Cisco is not selling BT solution, just promoting. So Nortel are somewhat deffensive (or whatever) beacuse they won`t make som much money in choosen BT client beacuse BT has the whole product. This is how this industri works. BT has the best consumer solution, but Nortel isn`t thinking that way, they`re thinking money. Alcatel and BT is another story beacuse ALA is directly involved. The same with Ericsson.
Yeah, but even the "other" solution involve Mipv4. And as of this day Nortel don`t have that. And some of the problems mentioned is quite stupid, like Nortels control motive which is anti-consumer friendly. And one of the solutions is being solved by Birdstep cooperation with compress company Orsus. It is no secret for us that Nortel has been somewhat deffensive in their interested in Birdstep and that customers (carriers) are the ones pushing for Nortel to sell the Birdstep Mobile IP Client along with existing Nortel solutions. I think the best way is if there is one standard open solution and today Birdstep is the only one that have such a solution. Other solution is based upon tricking consumers to stay with one ISP/Carrier and not letting the consumer choose best net no matter who the provider is!
Well as they say in the last sentence. No product in near future. That means they won`t drop Birdstep in the nearest future, hehe. But, good try and lets drop Birdstep talk. This is a CLYW board. And I am trying to respect that, but Tennese and you won`t. So i would engurage Nlightn to remove all are latest posts or maybe move them to the Bird board!
hehe. This is almost funny. No i haven`t seen it and i probably won`t, but I have never spoken more positive about Nortel than Alcatel and Ericsson. An by the way Carriers decide what kind of solutions they will have, not Nortel. If Nortel choose a closed solution which can`t cooperate with other vendors, then they will have a problem with the end user who will get a bad solution. Birdstep solution is best for the end user since it can work with every ISP and carrier. Why focus on Birdstep suddenly? Beacuse things aren`t going so well with CLYW? People here get angry when i talk about Bird, but you and others bring it up! I don`t know what Nortel choose but they will probably sell several solutions and Birdstep is allready choosen as one of them. If Nortel fails than Alcatel, Cisco and Ericsson will help Bird. And in addition to that they are working with phone manufactors and laptop producers so i doubt Nortel will dump them!
Well, Nortel is not that important for Bird. Ericsson and Alcatel is more important. But which date is this from, you didn`t answer that. Is it from 2003?
Sorry, I can`t use the private reply solution. If you had checked the companies involved you would see that Gemplus is a SIM/Smartcard provider and Alcatel is an infrastructure provider. A joint solution means that Birdstep will provide software used a long with cards from gemplus in cooperations with Alcatel infrastructure solutions. And i don`t write under any other names, sorry!
