buying or selling? TIA
The appointment of the chairman of the BOD would be a good idea, in my opinion. Also, some announcement of the business prospects would be welcome. I have been reading some Victorian novels and been impressed by their tempered view of adversity. I have adopted this point of view rather than than screaming that IDCC is a screaming buy or that its management is incompetent or worse.
In revanche, IDCC would appear to offer rather a good opportunity for price appreciation in the coming year or two. JMHO
Information, Please? I don't understand why the enormous success of Apple is not having a greater impact on IDCC. I know that Apple is secretive but where are our earnings from their products? They will announce a new tablet ( like Kindle) this week. Will it impact us. I am saturated with talk about Nokia. How about Apple?
The survey is reached by clicking on other on the top bar. Then Surveys followed by IDCC. the Heartland survey is the last one. Sorry, I didn't respond to any private messages because I lost them,
GLTA
Data, Excellent analysis! EOM
Jim, I finally got it. Thank you
compost, who is the financial company buying the shares?
compost, Is it a secret? Why?
Jim, I want to take the survey but all I find are the results. Any help would be appreciated. I endorse the Heartland proposal. I want to light a fire under IDCC. I used to dream about $100 but I will take $50 in a heartbeat. Surely, there is a strategy to get us there.
Jim, Where is the survey tab? I am at the age where I can't remember jack .....
Keep up the good work, TIA
compost, It is a family thing and nothing to do with real bees.
Why didn't ENMD get a loan or share sale directly from Celgene? I am unhappy that the company paid a substantial fee to find a buyer for the shares when they need every dollar for their clinical trials. Did Celgene refuse or did ENMD management refuse to deal with Celgene? I am trying to determine whether the news is positive or negative.
Any insight is welcome. TIA
dws, If Nokia can lie about infringing Interdigital IPR, they can also lie about Apple infringing theirs. I would believe in their ability to compete in smart phones if they would engage IDCC as a stategic partner and pay what is FRAND. I dont trust them because they are spending management resources in unnecessary disputes instead of the development of competitive products.
NY Times article today about cellphone companies rush to sue one another. The reporter Kevin J. O'Brien quotes Bill Tai of Charles River Ventures as saying that the new legal aggressiveness was a natural evolution. Nokia is described as fighting the economic downturn and losing market share while suing Apple, Samsung, LG and eight other competitors.
There is no mention of Interdigital and its struggle to protect its IPR from Nokia's exploitation. It is incredible to me how the ugly criticism of Interdigital for defending itself is now forgotten.
I believe that Interdigital needs to do a better public relations job to put pressure in the press and in government on Nokia and the other deadbeats.
I never received any response from the other board. I would appreciate a response from this board. TIA

Strategic analysis, who can provide it? Most comments by stockholders and analysts seem to be short term oriented. The MEN ( Motorola, Ericsson, and Nokia) are losing out to the successful smart phone providers. How does the explosive growth in HTC-Google, RIMM, and Apple impact IDCC earnings from now on? China is a complete mystery to me. Finally, Nokia may have fiddled around with IDCC IPR in the past but don't they need it in order to compete in the future. The IDCC story looks more promising than ever in my opinion. How about some critical comments from our experts? TIA

Nokia doesn't infringe any claims in these invalid patents which are obvious to anyone skilled in the art. LOL
Jim: You da man.
How about another $100 million stock buyback? IDCC is more attractive than any possible acquisition target. JMHO
amr, Thank you.
Post#273349 of mine was lost amidst the furor. Does anyone know anything about the Apple licensing agreement? I ask because Apple may be more important to our future than Nokia. TIA
Apple announced significant growth in sales of their iphone. Is there any information about per unit licensing of Interdigital IPR? In the last earnings CC, Merritt said that there was flexibility in their licensing agreements to benefit from growth in customer sales. TIA
my3sons, If I get a C in mathematics, can I tell Daddy that I exceeded expectations of a D and it was because there were too many kids smarter than me in the class. It seems like irrefutable logic to me.
revlis, thank you.
revlis, Can you predict the effect on IDCC of the ATT and Verizon strategies? Nokia license for 4G, Motorola, Ericsson,
China. Its a big question but I would appreciate your thoughts.
We have been so focused on nokia that we are losing sight of the longer term picture. Thank you.
ENMD is up 25% on over 2.3 million shares. There are two possible reasons imo. News leaks of the clinical trial are not likely`because the data are dispersed and it is diffcult to draw any conclusions until they are collated and analyzed. A more likely explanation is progress on financing further clinical trials. I believe Celgene is the most likely investor/partner because of a need to protect their vested interest in their Multiple Myeloma franchise as well as other cancers.
The recent strength is not a figment of a fevered imagination.
magilla, thank you
revlis, thank you
bim, thank you.
Huawei, are they a licensee? Anybody?
Huawei and ZTE. Are they licensees of Interdigital?
TIA
Without a strong patent system, giant foreign corporations will steal their technology.

Sept. 24 (Bloomberg) -- The U.S. Commerce Department is setting up an office intended to help entrepreneurs transform ideas into companies.
Commerce Secretary Gary Locke will announce the initiative in a speech today in Maryland, saying his department will help fledgling business owners get training, credit and access to government research, according to a copy of the remarks he is to deliver at the event.
“This office will be geared toward the first step in the business cycle: moving an idea from somebody’s imagination or from a research lab into a business plan,” Locke said in the remarks prepared for a conference sponsored by Inc. magazine later today. “What we need to do is get better at connecting the great ideas to the great company builders.”
The office for entrepreneurship and innovation will be set up under Locke’s direction, and will coordinate efforts across the government to help those starting new businesses. The Commerce Department will also establish an outside advisory panel made up of company owners, investors and officials.
The plan expands on an idea President Barack Obama outlined in comments in Troy, New York on Sept. 21, in which he said new technologies and businesses are the key to re-establishing economic growth in the U.S. The administration will try to “catalyze breakthrough” technologies so that economic growth won’t be based on speculative bubbles, the White House economic council said in a report the same day.
“Instead of working to build a great company or discover a new invention, too many of our brightest minds were busy engineering credit-default swaps,” Locke said in the remarks.
Solar Technology
Locke will describe one example of U.S. failure: U.S. researchers developed breakthroughs in solar technology, “but Japan took the lead in creating solar panels for homes and businesses, and now China has assumed dominance in the industry.”
Among the issues the new office will focus on is how to help new businesses get capital.
A separate group of advisers to Locke, the Manufacturing Council, proposed on Aug. 25 that the government offer $20 billion in loan guarantees to help companies that are now cut off from credit markets.
The council of 14 executives representing companies such as General Dynamics Corp. and Nucor Corp., said small manufacturers can’t get loans to fund operations or investments. The Commerce Department said it is working on ways to resolve the problem, without endorsing the loan guarantees.

dclarke, Merritt could make an offer that is attractive for the fixed fee and more expensive on a per unit basis. i.e.
equivalent to $.50 for fixed and $1.00 per unit. I don't doubt that IDCC could be creative if Nokia wants to deal. However, I fear it is like being creative with North Korea and Iran in a nuclear negotiation.
ENMD is up over 10% today on 230,000 shares. Any ideas or news?
Small entrepreneurial technology companies are supposed to be the drivers of the US economy. How can they possibly succeed against the giant foreign companies unless the US has a strong patent system? We have instituted tariffs to protect old technology jobs. This makes no sense to me.
Tariff on Chinese tires to protect US jobs is defended by the White House. How about cell phone IPR stolen by Finns? I would start a trade war with Finland rather than China.
revlis, Why are you optimistic that the lawyers on the Commission of the Court of Appeal will understand the Interdigital technology any better than the judge and his staff? Are they more technology oriented?
Over 15% gain today on 286,700 shares. What happened?
revlis, Great job in informing us of the Interdigital response.
The new law firm appears to understand the technology and clearly present our case. The current price of IDCC under $23 is a an opportunity with little downside risk. JMHO
