Gilgamash: My contention has always been the same. Encrypted content that is uncopyable for personal use WITH EASE, and unplayable on anything except proprietary devices will not be successful in the market place. DP as a storage medium is not doomed to fail, per se. There are lots of far less controversial applications that require no encryption. It is obvious to me that with only 15% of the market having access to broadband, the labels will not make any significant effort to release their property to DP, especially with no appreciable number of players available to play the discs.
With ITRU now owned by the new Sony/Phillips consortium, DP will be forced to license their DRM from them; not unlike the way all manufacturers of CDs now license the tech from Phillips.
One thing of which I'm reasonably certain is that Universal will not be involved in manufacturing music players, under the conditions that currently dictate their position from the parent company in France.

hollywood: Who says it's Asians?
Maybe it's David Crosby and some of his pals from "the beach." Who says it's even going to happen?
Whatever, Phillips has a competing disc-type storage product that they are bringing to market. They have also recently partnered with SONY to buy Intertrust, so the plot thickens.
You are correct about the arrogance and wasteful spending on the part of DP's failed management. $120 million bucks; there must have been some great parties in Boulder!
Whoever is interested in reinvigorating
DataPlay will stay away from applications that require encryption, IMO. The risks of being hacked are too great, content providers, ESPECIALLY Vivendi, have shown a marked reticence to release in the DP format and other options are so lucrative (e.g cameras) that anything other than simple storage of data seems overly ambitious and doomed to fail once again.

I agree, Trillium
that neither of us know if they sold the shares. If they DID, however, the question in my mind is WHEN they sold them.
Trillium: ".....Whats good for us is good for Digitalway and vice versa."
That presumption of yours has yet to be substantiated.
See, Rich, a lot of A's
told their friends and relatives who became B's and a lot of A's bought way up, out of unbridled enthusiasm, so there is the A/B type crossovers to consider, as well. Not to mention the B/A's who wisely averaged lower on the run-down. What TOO MANY have in common, however, unlike Tolstoy or some other brighter investors, is the shared misery of seeing it run to over 20 bucks and then watched in half-frozen amazement as it slowly bled their investment to under $.25, never selling a single precious share.
BUT ANYWAY, one type that has to be considered and honored, is this collection of loveable characters. Happy holidays!!

You're confusing it with
the "DataPlay to the moon" CES.
It was the one made infamous
for the Friday release of Monday's PR. "The Lucky7teen" CES.
Falk's CES "interview" with the Bloomberg
reporter wasn't very positive, either.

WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD
(George Weiss / Bob Thiele)
I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world
I see skies of blue and clouds of white
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world
The colours of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shakin' hands, sayin' "How do you do?"
They're really saying "I love you"
I hear babies cryin', I watch them grow
They'll learn much more than I'll ever know
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world
Yes, I think to myself, what a wonderful world
Oh yeah
sum dum guy; my typo.......
you're alright Don. MH
D.inkie: A wager?
Hehehehe! I disagree with several of your premises, most especially the remark about kicking butt in Iraq; were it only so simple, brother, things would be oh so melody and fine. Iraq is just a scapegoat, however for Bush and the oil boys who surround him. What about finding Bin Laden? What about our "allies" who harbor him and his associates? I'm talking about Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, specifically. These friends of ours are two-faced and double dealing us, for sure, IMO.
As for capitulation, if it was matter of economic analysis, a very inexact "science," a case might be made for that having occurred, but I think that other factors will be determining any bottoms yet to come.
BUT ANYWAY, I don't eat at drive-ups, these days. I will be happy to have you join me at a little spot here in the Seattle International District that we've come to treasure for the delicacy of Asian flavors mixed with wisdom from our favorite waiter - sum dum goy. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours and all others who enjoy quality discourse and freedom of speech. MH
Me either,chedrhed/
(OT) These are very uneasy times, D.inkie;
anything can happen. What appears to be a bottom, now, could very well be just the start of a full-scale worldwide economic panic and collapse. I have always understood this to be the ultimate goal of the al qaida organization. A few nut cases popping themselves off in Outback Steakhouses simultaneously, for instance, would be a kind of terrorism that will greatly affect the public's confidence/ security, for sure. Given events in other countries, not an unthinkable proposition, either.
As for smart money, well, IMO, smart money is out of the stock market, for now, and left in highly liquid assets easily redeemed for cash.
OZ: Still a very good question

What about open-source systems, D.inkie?
Since I have very little applicable knowledge in this area, I wonder if you and others might comment on file management solutions from linux developers? Obviously the potential for advancement by large CE companies into areas of patented proprietary technology such as e Digital's is greatly advanced by the availability of new non-proprietary software; especially now that IBM has taken up its cause.
Thank you for your considered opinion

seedie & berge: Please refrain from
irrelevent sports chatter. Thank you.
berge, I admire the realistic approach. A comment or two about the following, however.
"CD, I try to be sane, but it's not always easy. I also like to pull for the "underdog" at times, and I know that can be a weakness. Would sure be nice if we got better signals from management, but most companies keep investors in the dark until after-the-fact."
Underdogs are GREAT, IMO, but as a bet, only with the "spread." Yesterday, for instance......The APPLE CUP; Pullman, WA; U.W.
Huskies, suffering through a disappointing season, +8 against #3 W.S.U. Cougers, on the Freeway to Passadena. Intangibles: W.S.U., long-time choker, no real back-up to QB Gesser. U.W. bustin' to bust the bubble, nothin'-to-lose-attitude.
Cut to the point - Bet underdogs with the right spread; brings me to the second observation. Specifically, I would alter just slightly your last sentence to what I believe is the reality in life, the stock market in general, especially the OTC's, and this stock. in particular: but companies keep most investors in the dark until after-the-fact.
Well, your opinion is to be respected,
like any other persons. That is what civility is all about. If you are referring specifically to me, I have invested in this company, I have sold that position on two occasions and have every intention of doing so again. I would never view it as a long term investment, however, because of the vicissitudes of the OTC-BB market, and the volatility of the world economy today. Additionally, eDigital's management has yet to produce anything more than hyperbole and unfilled promises that have created a deep cynicism in the minds of the observant public.
I am very appreciative of the cult/religion type orientation of the faithful, here, because you provide an obedient and willing choir. Many people have made short-term money because of that lock step mentality.
Oh, Matt! ".....This is sort of a cult stock, a religion for some of you, so try to keep your cool."
Thank you for putting that so succinctly.
