OT: Speaking as a former real estate broker & business owner, the biggest sea change in the "Young-Couple-Buying-First-Home" scenario occurred around the early '60s.
Before then most people dreamed of eventually owning a home as big and nice as Mom & Dad's. They knew that they'd have to begin with a small starter home, and work their way up.
Now many young couples want a McMansion immediately, right out of the gate, even if they really can't afford it.
Hope everyone is doing well.
Still holding 25,000 shares of AZK. I'm more than a little embarrassed to admit this, but I'm still not 100% sure just what's going to happen when the HL buyout happens this weekend.
I think I'm going to get $3.11 in cash and one-third of a Hecla share for each AZK share. I'm either going to be very pleasantly surprised on Monday or very PO'd.
A bit surprised here. Why would the routine and expected news that the Canadian government OK'd the buyout cause this kind of drop? Some other news?
AZK: Any ideas on why this dropped? Only news I can see is that the Canadian government approved the buyout by HL, as expected.
Thanks much. Still no time to actively trade, but it sounds interesting, will take a look tonight.
Best of luck to all!
OT: This is from a PerkinElmer (PKI) press release announcing the VP's resignation. Notice the bolded part:
I'm once again probably being penny wise and pound foolish, trying to get it a few pennies lower even though IMO it will be a $5 stock before too long.
I'm going to be closely watching HL next week. If it dips back under $3 I'm going to buy large.
The CEO said last week, "I believe that in Hecla's 122-year history, we have never had such good prospects.” Despite the current weakness in metals, I tend to agree.
I lived in Minneapolis and used to eat at Famous Dave's all the time (think it was the original one.) Good ribs & beer.
I'm more-than-half kidding about the bell ringing bounce, but many years ago a friend of mine said that he informally kept track of it for awhile, and indeed small bounces did occur the next day.
Plus, Richard Heckmann, the founder, will ring the NYSE closing bell on the 29th. That should be good for 10%.
Getting back into HEK, moderate-size postion.
They're changing the name to Nuverra Environmental Solutions and on Monday will begin to trade as NES. I like the company a lot, and sometimes a silly thing like a name change can make a difference.
OK, good, sometimes I need to hear the voice of reason.
AZK: Still holding 25,000 shares at $3.64 average. Don't want to get too greedy but don't want to leave too much on the table. (Everyone's favorite song.)
SK, or anyone else, any thoughts on the future price action? TIA.
One can make a correct macro call--the sector--but blow it on the micro--the company.
That's why I like WLT long term, it has both.
Eloquently put, may I add !@#$%^&*()!@#$%^&*?
S.- I did some quick research on your question from yesterday regarding the nature of the WLT insider purchases.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Form_4
Each transaction listed on a Form 4 filing has a specific transaction code and there are about twenty possibilities. Most of them are quite specific as to the type of transaction, including many that include options.
All the insider transactions that I referenced are Code P: open market or private purchase of securities.
Best of luck!

I know, I was just teasing.
You're an excellent swing trader, much better than me, and I mean that.
So are you saying that sometimes people do OK when they don't trade? Shocking.
A relatively small, heavily-armed, anti-American (not anti-Republican or anti-Democrat) group within a huge mob attacked our embassy. It was probably rather spontaneous—an hour or two of gathering men and munitions—and quickly executed. Nothing immediate could have been done to stop it. The underlying causes are many decades, if not centuries old.
Embassies of all nations have been attacked since the beginning of recorded history. The ancient Egyptians dealt with it, as did the Greeks and the Romans. Every colonial power since the Age of Exploration has had many, many embassies not only attacked, but wiped out. One would be hard-pressed to find any U.S. administration since George Washington’s that has not had at least one embassy or consulate attacked. There were seven embassies attacked during GW Bush’s term.
The current tempest is nothing more than a deliberate, cynical, lie-filled attack on Hillary Clinton in a sleazy attempt to derail her in 2016. Meanwhile, all the real problems of our country lay festering because Republicans don’t really govern, they just hate.
Re "the stock whose symbol I will not type": I have no sympathy, you guys have no idea...
Oh, the horror.
SEC filings say direct purchases, and I have always assumed that in most cases that means open market buys. I'm not sure how one would find the answer to your question.
EDIT: What a bounce! Should have bought more.
Burritos a better investment than U.S. Steel or General Electric. Who woulda' thunk it?
We're going to wake up one day it's going to be in the mid-$20's, that's where I'm selling.
WLT: I know that it's down in the mid-$17's today, but their BOD & execs have been buying like crazy at higher prices, and I mean open market direct purchases, not options.

This is just for May; the list goes on and on for the previous months.
This is the kind of thing I like to see, more than some semi-knowledgeable analyst making a WAG.
Mister Two: I never make the same mistake twice--
I make it like five or six times, you know, just to be sure.
I thought that you'd been invited to Greece by a group of locals; at the airport, they'll be the ones wearing the hoods and carrying the tar and feathers.
I assume you know that they're changing their name to Nuverra Environmental Solutions and will trade under the symbol NES. Supposed to be any day now.
Perhaps it's silly, but I wonder if the name change will give the PPS a little jolt.
Be careful, if he leaks that list you might be on it.
NB_: I told you before, I won't even type those three letters in a row!
I think he meant $5 eventually, and as Socrates famously said, "Eventually won't buy groceries for a bounce trader."
I will, back to shooting craps.
I hope that tiny bit of DD doesn't get me banned.
There's an article out this morning on The Street by an experienced and knowledgeable biotech writer.
Basically says that AVEO execs screwed-up the trial design, but their drug is real. Eventually will be approved by FDA, way underpriced now, should be $5-$6.
Iron ore is the guts of the world's industrialized economies, it's not going away.
We've still got a year or two before we're all driving Teslas with windmills in our backyards.
TSLA been reminding me of dotcom bubble crap. Everyone will own a Tesla indeed.
Most of the anarchist rioters are now on summer vacation.
