The SEC definition of a penny stock is the only thing that matters, and that is any stock trading under $5.00 PS.
Phil
PS: will SPNG suddenly no longer be a penny stock once it reverse splits 1 for 100, bringing PPS over $5???? (assuming current PPS stays over .05).......
If SPNG does a 100 to 1 reverse split and gets to $5.00 per share, I hope it stays there long enough for me to get a borrow.
It won't be there long.
Phil
Do Nestle or Nintendo trade for less than $5.00 per share?
I didn't say all pinks were penny stocks.
Phil
Any stock under $5.00 is considered to be a penny stock and is not marginable and cannot be shorted by the average retail investor.
From Wikipedia:
In the United States, a penny stock is a common stock that trades for less than five dollars a share and are traded over the counter (OTC) through quotation services such as the OTC Bulletin Board or the Pink Sheets. Although a penny stock is said to be "thinly traded," share volumes traded daily can be in the hundreds of millions for a sub-penny stock. Legitimate information on penny stock companies can be difficult to find and a stock can be easily manipulated.
In the U.S. financial markets, the term penny stock commonly refers to any stock trading outside one of the major exchanges (NYSE, NASDAQ, or AMEX), and is often considered pejorative. However, the official SEC definition[1] of a penny stock is a low-priced, speculative security of a very small company, regardless of market capitalization or whether it trades on a securitized exchange (like NYSE or NASDAQ) or an "over the counter" listing service, such as the OTCBB or Pink Sheets. The terms penny stock, microcap stock, small caps, and nano caps are sometimes all used interchangeably, however per the SEC definition, penny stock status is determined by share price, not market capitalization or listing service. A penny stock is typically listed for below $5 per share (traditionally one dollar but defined as five by the SEC).

but what i do know is the scams were specific to ihub.
If you think that you don't know anything.
They were all over the internet, and only occasionally on Ihub.
Phil
Frankie,
I know this is hard for you to understand,
but Ihub admin are here to enforce the TOU, not to "watch out" for you.
Matt has been charged with being involved in some penny stock scams. The charges may or may not be true, but if you ever thought that any admin was here to "watch out" for you, you have been sadly mistaken.
If you have ever placed any trust in Ihub admin to "watch out" for you, your trust was placed blindly and in the wrong place.
Now, I am done with this discussion.
Phil
Maybe you do what?
Want to buy Ihub and eliminate the penny stock chat?
And fire Matt?
Put your money where your "mouth" is.
Phil
I wouldn't be surprised.
Is that why I feel the need to spray myself with insect repellent before going on the stock specific boards?
Phil
Leaving Matt as one of the admin of Ihub until after he is actually convicted of anything was a decision made by those that own the joint.
You want to buy it so you can make those decisions?
Phil
I just think you are going after an unattainable target.
You'd have better success beating your head against a wall.
The discussion of penny stocks pays the bills around here.
Next time you get a chance, check the percentage of boards that are about real companies and see how active they are compared to the discussion of scam stocks trading in the triple zeros.
And while you're at it, see how many boards discuss anything other than penny stocks. (Penny stocks are anything under $5.00 PS)
Why don't you start worrying the crap out of the SEC to eliminate the Pink Sheet market altogether?
You'd probably have about the same amount of.
Phil
P.S. I still wonder why you are here if you hate it so much.
And you think you are going to change Ihub more to your liking?
You'd have a better chance of moving a brick building with a feather.
Phil
Let me ask you something Q,
If you realize Ihub allows discussion of penny stock scams, and you don't approve of it,
Why are you still here?
Phil
Well said Phil, iHub doesn't commit any crimes, it's just a facilitator for criminal activity, I got it!
No more so than any other stock message board, the internet, or even your computer.
Do you want to outlaw all of the above?
Phil
Again I ask, whose fault is it if you act on something that is posted by an anonymous message board poster?
You don't have to act on the information.
It's YOUR fault if you lose money and no one elses.
Phil
How many times do I have to explain that Ihub is a message board and it is up to you to determine the usefulness and truthfulness of the posts?
If you want, I will give you my e-mail address and you can ask me if you should buy a penny stock.
The answer will always be no.
If you buy it anyway, whose fault is it?
Phil
To me that's spam.
Phil
So?
That's a matter for the authorities having jurisdiction to sort out.
I still don't understand who you thought was going to "watch out for you" while you were gambling on penny stocks.
Do you ask your parents to go with you and "watch out for you" if you go into a casino?
Phil
You ever heard the term caveat emptor?
If you are not up to the game, don't go into the casino.
Phil
Its no different than a Casino that has every game rigged, with no fear of being caught or penalized.
Exactly.
And anyone that gambles on penny stocks has to realize that it's almost the same as gambling in a casino with them having a marked deck.
Phil
Frankie,
A long time ago, I used to buy penny stocks and thought of them as an investment.
I only played with a few hundred dollars at a time to see what would happen.
I lost it all. No big loss, but the education was extremely valuable.
If you are gambling, and losing, in the thousands on penny stocks and haven't yet learned that they are almost all scams, you deserve everything you get.
Phil
GOOG almost trading at the 52 week high. The 52 week high was yesterday.
Phil
Did you check the link for updates?
Phil
Yeah sure?
Who do you think is protecting your investments if you are not doing it?
You can't be naive enough to think anyone at Ihub is doing it can you?
Phil
That's exactly what I was thinking.
Internet etiquette dictates that you post a link when you quote something, but I think that's more relative when you C/P PRs and other news.
To link to another stock discussion board draws traffic away from Ihub.
IMO
Phil
far from over, what are you looking at? were thin and easy pop with bug buying
it burns me to know that the folks that were sort of watch and enforcing over me were involved in something that could have cost me tens of thousands of dollars in losses...
Exactly who do you think was "watch and enforcing over me"?
You are the only one that is watching out for you.
Phil
Good morning to you Larry.
I'm getting settled in my new digs and falling in love with my new truck.
I've put over 300 miles on it in three days just running around and getting stuff done.
Phil
I just answered your post on TalkZilla.
Phil
Borrowed from Trinity on the Campfire board:
Two medical students were walking along the street when they saw an old
man walking with his legs spread apart. He was stiff-legged and walking
slowly.
One student said to his friend: "I'm sure that poor old man has Peltry
Syndrome. Those people walk just like that."
The other student says: "No, I don't think so. The old man surely has
Zovitzki Syndrome. He walks slowly and his legs are apart just as we
learned in class."
Since they couldn't agree they decided to ask the old man. They approached
him and one of the students said to him:
"We're medical students and couldn't help but notice the way you walk,
but we couldn't agree on the syndrome you might have. Could you tell us
what it is?"
The old man said, "I'll tell you, but first you tell me what you two fine
medical students think."
The first student said, "I think it's Peltry Syndrome."
The old man said, "You thought........ But you are wrong."
The other student said, "I think you have Zovitzki Syndrome."
The old man said, "You thought....... But you are wrong."
So they asked him, "Well, old timer, what do you have?"
The old man said, "Well I thought it was GAS........ ...............
But I was wrong, too!"
I see people are still making much addo about nothing waiting
for the 10K tonight. all the bashers are out and have recrewted all their frinds to drum away at the skitish new investors
I cook broccoli in the microwave too, the same way you cook asparagus. I just use a small casserole pan with a glass lid instead of the plastic wrap.
100 times better than steaming it on the stovetop.
Phil
We think a lot alike, sometimes. LOL
When I read the recipe, I was thinking, where are the tomatoes?
Then I got to the pureeing part, I thought to myself, why not puree just some of it to thicken it?
I would use some soy sauce instead, or maybe in addition to, the Worcestershire too.
Sounds like a great recipe though.
Phil
i was in virginia..its a good thing he does not live near where i was....
I just lied and told you I didn't live close.
I wasn't about to deal with any drunks that late at night, especially since I was mostly sober.
LOL
Phil
i was so drunk i even called Philberto...have no idea what i said....
I have no idea what you said either.
I couldn't understand you.
LOL
Phil
I would still have the main valve checked out to see why it's not closing.
Phil
The main water valve should turn the water off to the whole house. If that valve is not fully closing, you can still turn the water off at the meter.
It should be out by the street.
Phil
The water valve is most likely not fully closing.
If you are on a well you can cut the power off to the pump. If you are on public water, you can turn the water off at the meter.
Phil
