Wow, that is actually very close to home...they should have some in the Ventura County someplace!
If anybody finds a store in the LA area that stocks Red Sun, please post it. I am eager to try it and see what a 'super premium' cigarette tastes like. I don't smoke except on rare occasion, but it is enjoyable. That will be the first step toward getting me back in the stock, and I'd be happy to report back my thoughts. Hell, if you could order them online, I would...imagine that's not possible, though.
No way I'm driving to SF for a pack of cigs.
I believe the point of the original post that the shorts were using many, multiple, successive, piddly 100-share sells to try to lower the price down. The buyers weren't intentionally buying just 100 shares at a time...that's what was for sale at the lowest price. So, you were right in that there were no 'big boys' aka large share sales/purchases, but you interpreted it incorrectly I believe.
GetSmart can correct me if I'm wrong, of course.
Appreciate that.
Loaning shares for 17%, or even 26%, will be paltry compared to what we are expecting over the long run, so why give them the opportunity to affect the share price by loaning shares anyway?
Yep. Like I implied, I'm not real concerned by his review of Overland as I don't expect Overland to produce a significant amount of ANY revenue in a year or two. But his view was shared by his department at the time, including the mucky-mucks who make the final decisions to not purchase Overland products.
I'm perfectly ok with him being at odds, btw. It's just an opinion, and it doesn't carry a lot of weight. I'm reporting back like I said I would.
Did. That's why I thought it was a fairly neutral opinion.
Friend of mine who works with storage said he met with Overland and that they were not impressed with and passed on Overland's products, specifically that their redundancy setup was not up to par with the rest of the industry. "I can tell you as a geek that if Sphere3D is walking into potential customers offices and touting Overland as their back-end, most storage geeks sitting in the meeting will immediately turn their ears off."
I explained that Overland is just one piece of the puzzle, that Glassware is going to be the driving technology for the company. Unfortunately he knows nothing about Glassware, and had never heard of SDS or other currently hot industry trends.
Fairly neutral, in my opinion, without knowledge of Glassware to include in an opinion, despite relatively panning of Overland products. Hopefully Overland knows of it's shortcomings and is working toward solutions. Not sure how much impact Overland will have on the overall company once Glassware is selected to provide solutions to the previously unsolvable problems.
Awesome. I hope they keep that position.
Is that up to the company, or the MM?
Will somebody please remind me of the insider ownership %s? I am having a hard time finding the data.
A link would be great. Thanks.
Yep, agree. I don't generally post about family-type things, but I do pay attention and wish you well during this time.
One of my best friends works for the Department of Justice in a medium-sized county in California, mainly on data storage/administration. I picked his brain a little bit tonight and told him about ANY. He hadn't heard of them, no surprise, but sounded very interested once he heard of Glassware's capabilities. He did say that they are currently working mainly with VMWare and have some IBM machines, and they have been working toward deploying VMWare machines for the last 2 years, which has been a long process. I asked him to look into Sphere3d and give me an opinion of what he finds. Obviously I don't expect to get a Simon Bramfitt-type analysis as Sphere3d likely won't be giving them a demo anytime soon, however the tech is something he knows a bit about and will report back after he's looked it over. One of the reasons his department likes to work with VMWare is their army of support and of course they take them to dinner occasionally...lol. The efficiencies inherent with Glassware-enabled servers piqued his interest.
I'll let the board know once he reports back.
Should one wait a few days and see if the shorts have anything else up their sleeves prior to purchasing more shares, or would chasing the share price today be a prudent decision?
Opinions please.
Volume has slowed down a lot in the last hour. I'm not great at picking intraday purchase times. :)
Has anybody received an email from the company regarding the open letter to shareholders? I know you all have your thumbs on the pulse of the company fairly firmly, so not like it is necessary, but isn't this the kind of news we would also like to receive in our emails?
I'll chalk this up to the website investor information signup being new, for now. No worries.
I vaguely recall someone other than Perker (do not trust that person at all, and don't care if it's a guy or a girl) confirmed that the Chinese had been to XXII headquarters, and of course I unfortunately can't remember who.
I appreciate the common sense you bring to the table among all the chicken littles that are on this board. Same goes for jockinmikeg and a few others.
Wait until the cc before crying about milk still in the fridge. :)
Disclosure: If there is not decent/significant progress on the China deal, I will be selling some of my shares. Not sure how much yet.
There was no suggestion of submitting false PRs. I believe the statement was more along the lines of the search is ongoing until a candidate signs the acceptance letter. Sure sounds logical to me. I wouldn't want a company I'm invested in to stop looking for a CEO until the dotted line is signed. Seems like more of a concern than assuming someone is locked in and stopping looking. Would you condone that behavior of a company you invest in?
Lighten up, Francis. The sky is not falling, unless you tried to catch a falling knife. You didn't do that, did you?
Discussions and negotiations are ongoing with China. That is where my hopes mostly lie, and I am willing to be patient. If China/CNTC wasn't interested, they would've ditched XXII by now.
I think you should rethink that. Options would make it much easier for the shorts to cover their positions, in my understanding. And since most options positions expire worthless, buying short- or long-dated calls isn't usually a winning proposition. Just sayin'. I just don't want them to be able to cover easily, and I don't expect any calls I purchase to rise significantly before expiring... :|
So Henry is a simple salesperson now? Really? And they are floundering without leadership? How so?
I feel they are making progress, and are announcing news as necessary. Red Sun has been launched, is being promoted and one should expect sales to slowly ramp up via the trade program. China is still in the future - deal hopefully by end of 1st qtr, maybe later, as announced previously to all shareholders. A CEO search is underway.
Let him/them do their job, which they, by all reports, seem to be doing?
If sales don't occur/ramp up over time, China deal doesn't happen by end of 2nd qtr, a CEO isn't found by the time Des leaves his current position, then you can start complaining.
Trolls may now stop asking if Glassware exists. Hallelujah. :)
Or maybe there is interest and just as everybody expected and knew previously, these kinds of decisions take time to make. I believe the contract states that BAT is allowed years to make the a decision as to their final action. Years.
Stop peddling fear. It's unbecoming of a good human being. Unless you're not going for that angle.
Are you joking? Why do you always post these asinine rhetorical questions?
BAT entered into a contractual agreement with XXII for a reason, and it wasn't because BAT already owned patents that do the same thing... They didn't give XXII $7mil as a down payment on a lawsuit they are about to spring on XXII. LOL
Kind sir, you misplaced the last part of the trifecta with a repeat of 'Anywhere'. With that corrected...
I do have to admit, that is uncannily (eerily?) similar to Sphere 3d's motto of Anywhere, Anytime, from Any device.
You're right. I didn't word that correctly. I meant to say that good q4 numbers would possibly help stop the current short-term selling pressure among the antsy holders. I'm content to wait until q2, though it would be nice to get a little support from the company. Just bought more in the last week, but apparently should've waited at least 2-3 more days. lol.
I've spread the word at my work, and have at least 3 people currently invested, and more interested and waiting to pull the trigger.
I'd love to get some positive pre-q4 report numbers now, rather than see this keep getting taken down. Then again, shorts seem to be taking it down with or without good news. :|
Kurt Russell and Richard Dreyfuss were great in that movie. :)
sons4/streamingeagle, what was the outcome of the call(s) to Scottrade today? I also hold an account there and am interested. Thanks.
Forward guidance. When can we expect it, and will that help the worrywarts? I recall some talk of giving guidance in the future, but don't recall when it was projected to be...projected. With the talk of revenue being lumpy for a while, is that the reason there is no guidance being offered at this point?
I bought shares through Schwab and USAA recently without issue as well. Also have a Scottrade acount and am getting the same message others are getting, which says to contact my local branch to purchase.
Thanks for confirming what I was thinking. :)
The original mockup was surely not done with size factor in mind, just to prove it works.
I am speculating that the 'glassware 2.0 chip' would be placed on motherboards with the rest of the essentials and could make the processor much more inherently efficient. Imagine the design being integrated into all future motherboards upon being accepted as an industry standard. That would be a lot of future revenue (probably an understatement).
For now, baby steps, but that is what I am picturing as a possibility at some point, with what we currently know.
Sorry about the perceived condescension. I see certain people's posts as harsher than they really are sometimes.
You know, now that you telegraphed your buy order I'm going to 'The Price is Right' you and bid just a penny more, and you'll have to wait even longer.
Btw, thanks for letting everybody know what you plan at buying at, which is always lower than it is now, and that you expect it to keep going down daily. I've never seen that tactic before. Bravo.
Your condescension is palpable, but I will attempt an answer anyway. :)
I don't know any more than most, for starters. But what I have come to realize is that shorts are very well organized and more than likely have contingencies for every situation that will allow them to escape relatively unscathed. As people have been trumpeting the 'DELIST' mantra for months now, don't you think shorts felt warned sufficiently to enact an action plan for any upcoming delisting?
Who knows if or when shorts will be forced to cover? I have seen no credible claims to date as to exactly when they'll be forced to cover, but I have seen theories. I concur that the naked shorting has not been corrected. Basically, I'll believe it when I see it. Despite the manipulation which we all believe to be occurring, if the product is as great as we all believe it is, ANY will break free of the manipulation eventually upon great revenue reports, or great contracts announced.
If we really are longs, then why are people lamenting the current share price? We all know this stock will have high volatility, yet when it occurs some freaking out still occurs. Dell, Novarad, yada yada. We all believe the ducks are lined up and the stock is primed for huge vertical moves, but the people who are supposed to take us to the next level (the Street) obviously need to be shown the truth on a quarterly report, or otherwise.
If you're looking for a reason from me as to the current doldrums, my best guess is that the manipulators see money to be made from a bunch of retail players who can be easily scared out of their shares in the uncertain times between supposedly great news and profitability. I'm just thankful there aren't options available as of yet for ANY, because that's a real playground for manipulators. I also agree with something else that we've both seen from Van (I'll defer to his much more experienced position), which I won't post here out of respect for him and his subscribers.
I'm just advocating patience and not being a Gio. And I'm not looking for an argument, thank you.
Ugh, sorry for the lengthy post.
Thank you.
Question, on the topic of registering the different brands to be sold in each state they will be sold in: Can XXII begin selling immediately, or do they have to wait until registration is completed in all states? Silly question, but I thought I saw a post a while ago that claimed all registration needed to be completed in all states prior to sales beginning. It doesn't make sense to me for that to be required. Clarification please.
And what is this 'King' stuff? I still smoke occasionally (some social events), but I used to smoke regularly long ago, and nobody I knew smoked 'Kings'. Whenever I think of somebody smoking 'Kings' or '100s' I think of grandmas and grandpas and dollar scratchers, not premium brand smokers. Correct me if I'm wrong. That said, I am really curious to try a premium cigarette from XXII and see how it is.
One of my coworkers asked me this today:
Why was the CEO at Intel and what are his credentials, if any?
****************************
IMO, Eric Kelly was there along with one of the VPs of Overland in order to present at and support the good Reverend Jesse Jackson's RainbowPUSH conference, along with many other black/African-American company executives. I doubt that it had anything to do with business meetings regarding Sphere3D and Intel. If it did, then I'd be ecstatic. Time will tell, as that was not much to go on.
As for Eric Kelly's credentials, many others know a lot more than I do about him, if they want to chime in. My favorite credential of his is that he has some sort of clearance that allows him to do business directly with the U.S. government, GSA, etc. That would be a great asset when it comes time to work on getting Sphere3D a contract with GSA to archive their previously unarchivable data.
:)
Not that interesting, once you see why he was there. It likely had nothing to do with further Sphere3d/Overland business. It was a RainbowPUSH conference.
Please reiterate what was said about the stores in Spain not getting product, as well as anything else that was not already posted. I called in late.
Thank you.
