~CES David Foley Interview~ NEW
Here is my interview with David Foley at CES 2014 (1/7)
I hope it gives some new information and helps you all out in some way. I know there is no pleasing some of you, but oh well. Please just respect the time I put in to this for all of you. -Cheers
If I make it back, I will totally take a picture. I'm am industry dude so I have a million of other things to look at. CES is MILES long. I'm trying here. I took those pictures for you guys. I wish you all would be kind and enjoy the info.
Definitely no computer involved. That would defeat the purpose. Must be an illusion in the pic. Only the nuvola plugged in to the tv. I looked! ;)
New business cards with new NTEK.com address and emails!

Brick and mortar stores coming soon! He wouldn't say which ones yet. Coming to "The Tiger Directs of the world soon" also!
Good point. I will totally ask around!
They have an awesome product that is at CES! HELLO! It's real and if you pr-ordered it will be at your door soon. Geez I haven't been at this long but most of these penny companies don't even have employees let alone a product. This is something that is insanely usable too!
BTW, I was at NAB 2 years ago and I could only find 3 or 4 4k TV's on the whole show floor. 4k is EVERYWHERE now. NTEK's timing with a 4k product iS PERFECT!
I did an interview with David Foley, I'll post it ASAP but it might be another day or two... I'm having fun at CES and it's a bit long so I need time to sit and edit... Which I don't have. I'll post it when I can!
Here's what I can say now.
The booth looks great.
David is a cool dude totally down to answer questions.
The Nuvola looks awesome.
UltraFlix is launching Super Bowl sunday.
The video games are awesome on the Nuvola.
They are streaming at 3 different bit-rates at the booth. 6, 20, and 40mb
Moving murals is there showing stuff.
They have 50 movies in the can. 75 by ultraflix launch.
They have multiple options, rental, ad supported etc. It won't lock you down. you pick how you want to watch.
This is awesome. You would need to be here to see it. Quit bashing it unless you are!

Woe, like I said a little proof is all we need. If you missed the many 10 bagger opportunities here I'm sorry, but please back up the bashes, like the others back up their DD.
I'll be at CES so I can try to help you see that NTEK is not a fantasy by taking some pictures and video for you.
Maybe, you can get on bored and make some money with us!
-Cheers!
You can see that Roku is not working with Seiki by going here:
http://brightsign.biz/partners/overview/
You can see that Seiki IS working with Nanotech by going here:
http://www.seiki.com/where-to-buy.php
You can see that Brightsign does not have a product that streams 4k by going here:
http://brightsign.biz/digital-signage-products/overview/
They can upscale the content to 4k, but it cannot natively play 4k video. It's right on their own website dude.
We would really appreciate if you try to show proof of the incorrect things you say so we don't have to waste our time doing it for you. If you find any issues with NTEK please let us know, but you don't need to lie to kick-it man.
There is definitely no dishonesty here my friend. I think others would agree I'm pretty honest about this...
Hey, HBO. Can I buy HBOGO? No? Please? No? I really want to buy your content because it is so awesome, but I can't? Really? Are you crazy?
Hey, Nanotech. Can I get a subscription to Vodwiz? Yeah? Awesome! Can I get it on cable? No? Even better!
Hey, HBO. So, logic suggests that all forms of communication move to the web... Here's some examples. Mail, Phone/conferencing, video, music, porn, classified ads, news, radio... Should I go on?
So I was thinking are you guys going to give us an option to by HBO on the web because I don't want cable?
NO we have more lucrative deals with the cable companies. We will lose money if we lose those contracts to sell HBO on the web.
Oh, ok, I see. So you just want to wait for Apple to come in, pay off the cable companies and destroy the business plan they have been using for 70+ years in two weeks of negotiating and instead, you can share your revenue with them. You know, you could just get in front of the curve and capitalize on emerging technology yourself so you can keep all of the money.
Netflix killed blockbuster, because instead of going to the web they decided to let Netflix get the jump on them.
Yes, HBO would lose money at first. But thats not because they shouldn't sell HBO Go on the web, it's because they invested so heavily on legacy cable business model. But guess what? They are getting on the ball and I bet you a cookie they will be ready for my credit card number very soon!
Here's the deal. They forgot to realize that the model they are using is only viable for a few more years. The second Apple or a similar company buys out the cable giants. This old business model will not exist. The web WILL kill cable just like the web has killed (upgraded) every other form of communication and media!!!

From the above article:
Mr. Lawler wrote on Tuesday: “What would happen if HBO no longer had the pay-TV industry’s marketing team propping it up all the time? The results would be disastrous, and there’s no way that HBO could make up in online volume the number of subscribers it would lose from cable. Which is why, even though some users would actually pay more for access to HBO GO without all the other cable channels, you won’t see it show up as a standalone service anytime soon.”
Of course, HBO’s message included the words “for now” — a reminder that as the economics of television change, so too could HBO’s calculations about its relationships.
Go to http://takemymoneyhbo.com to voice how much your willing to pay for a subscription to HBO Go.
Here's one more good nugget for y'all. 4k Cameras! They get cheaper and better. Cheaper and better. Here are the ones worth mentioning. The reason is Content, content, content right? Well guys like me can't afford a $50,000 camera to shoot our jobs on. That's why it's awesome there are already a few models out there in the small production companies budget.
1. RED ScarletX - You can have a functioning rig for approximately $15,000 (This is the best option and the cameras is AMAZING!
2. Canon EOS-1d - approximately $13,000 for shooting ready rig.
3. Blackmagic 4k Cinema Camera - Functioning rig less than $5,000 (Not bad!)
4. Sony FDR-AX1 - Ready to go out of the box for $4,500
5. GoPro Black Edition and Black Edition+ $400 WHAT?! 4k only at 15FPS but still awesome
I bet you next years model will be full 4k H.265 for $400. Oh Yeah!!!
There are others but they are either out of the "one-man-band" price range or not as good as the Red Scarlet.
This means more content for Nanotech and somewhere for these shooters to show there awesome low budget flicks!
When you watch Youtube videos they still look great because the full resolution is there.
BUT
They do not look great because you see blocks of artifacting and the common graininess you normally see on youtube. It depends on the quality of the compression the editor used to export the video after editing. It depends how long they wanted to wait... Short videos are no big deal, but a full movie could take 1-3 weeks to export using a very high quality compression. I'm talking about a very fast computer with 64gb of RAM also...
Don't worry Nanotech uses high quality encoders and other equipment you than your average run and gun videographer like me and my friends have. Even though we can shoot in 4k we usually export to a max of 1080p to clients... Mainly because they usually don't know what 4k is... lol
BUT I watched a rough draft of a 30 second PSA we just shot and it looks way better than youtube. Also, when we finish the master and because it is a public service announcement, the government client will not mind if I spread it around for you all to see. We will do a very high quality compression and maybe even a RAW export for those geeky enough who want to see it.
If you want to see perfect 4k the best thing I've come up with so far is to get a 4k still frame load it on a usb stick and view a slideshow that way. Go on to google images and search for "RAW 4k" or "RED 4k" and you will find some great images to preview. (Make sure the image does not exceed 4k. It seemed to freeze the TV forcing me to unplug and plug back in. It didn't work until I had images that were exactly 4k. I don't think the TV can read .jpg's in resolutions above 4096x2160P)
With David's slick algorithms and upcoming H.265 I think the Nuvola will whoop Youtube in quality.
Here is how you make your SEIKI TV look really gooood!
First make sure you have the latest firmware installed. Go to 4kspecial.com and Seiki.com and make sure you follow and compare the instructions from both sites. It can be very bad to install it improperly or to install the incorrect firmware!!!
Then, hit menu on the remote.
(Your menu might look slightly different based on your model/firmware.)
Picture Mode: User
Contrast: 52
Brightness: 48 Do not put brightness above 48 it skewes colors the wrong direction and is no bueno.
Color: 39
Color Temp: Warm
Sharpness: 0
Backlight: 40 Never go over 60 same issue as above. no bueno.
Then on the remote hit exit/menu/setup
Noise Reduction: OFF
DLC: OFF
On the remote hit exit/menu
then with number keys hit 0000
In service menu do the following
others/color temp.
Red Gain: 141
Green Gain: 141
Blue Gain: 116
Red Offset: 520
Green Offset: 510
Blue Offset: 510
I got these settings from a forum with the link to poster below. I have made some tweaks of my own, but lets use this as a baseline because he used the proper methods for calibration. I make some slight adjustments to the backlight and sometimes lower the brightness or tweak the contrast depending on what I'm watching. Sometimes I also back off on the reds slightly. This is a great baseline and if anyone makes any good changes please share!

I still can't quite use it for color grading while video editing, but this thing is AMAZING for the price, build quality, and UHD resolution!
I'm not saying that it's right, I'm saying that I truly have no other option. It costs at least $80 a month to get HBO because you have to buy a cable package also. Sorry, but I'm not going to pay that much when all I want to watch is HBO. When HBO decides to give me the option to buy HBO I will. I am a netflix and hulu plus subscriber, so I have no problem paying for on-demand content. It's HBO's poor execution and business model that makes it literally impossible to purchase HBO as a stand-alone product.
Cable TV is horrible nothing but commercials and garbage.
No History on History Channel
No music on MTV and VH1
No Learning on the Learning Channel
No News on Fox and CNN
The only good content is on networks like NBC, CBS, ABC which you can get with bunny ears...
Or, AMC, SYFY and the like which release everything on Netflix.
NTEK is here to save the day by bringing something new like Vodwiz.
Then the giants like Apple will swoop in by opening the AppleTV to developers, and then I can download the AMC, NBC, HBO, etc... apps and either pay a monthly fee, per episode fee, or view all the content ad supported. I will watch what I want, when I want and pay for only that. Apple has the money and lawyers to make this happen, by knocking the legacy old farts that run the networks and cable companies to wake up to the future... Just like they did in the music industry with iTunes and iTunes match. This will then open the floodgates for android devices to have the same technology.
I'm as sure of that as I am in my position in NTEK.
NTEK is one of the first using an open platform, upstaging Roku with 4k, while including gaming and the full Android capabilities.
Apple WILL come in and do up the existing technology like they do with almost every product they have ever launched, and just like what happened with the iPhone vs samsung ,and iOS vs android you will see with Nanotech/android vs appleTV/ios.
Competition is great and Nanotech has been quoted embracing it from the start. I remember hearing this sort of talk in the shareholders meeting, if I'm not mistaken.
Yo, this is awesome. Next year we will finally see the masses unplug that stupid coaxial cable with it's blurry a$$ super compressed signal that they are paying way too much money for and "plug" into some awesome wifi delivered UHD content.
I hope that answers why I use someone else's log-in for HBO GO. Sorry for the rant...
That would be really smart because cord cutters like myself would stop borrowing logins from friends who have cable. If they gave me an option to pay them, I would... :) HBO's logic on this has baffled me since launch. The Shotime and Starz apps don't even support the local cable provider in my area - Charter...
Thanks David! You the man! This is insanely obvious considering all I can watch on my SEIKI until the Nuvola comes out are 4k videos on youtube in H.264. Just like the job I did last week shooting on the Red Scarlet in 4k and exporting to the client in 4k in what? oh, H.264.
I sent you an email last week from Jim@xxxxxxx I would really appreciate your input on calibrating the SEIKI. I have a feeling you and your coworkers have spent some time playing with the settings. I sent you the settings I used to compare. I want to get really get it dialed in and then share them here so everyone has the perfect picture when the product launches. :)
And now, thanks to Lonnie, 4k can be described poetically! haha awesome. 4k is not like failed 3d. It doesn't hurt your eyes. It just helps your smile!
I read that article and it doesn't say that the Tegra 4 can't display 4k video... If I'm wrong please tell me. (Please show evidence!)
Tegra 4 doesn't even need H.265 to output 4k to 4k displays. It will just make it even faster. Here are sited sources for that statement:
Here are sources demonstrating the tegra 4 displaying 4k at trade shows.

I own the SEIKI 39" 4K UHDTV and I thought I would share some stuff about it. I am a videographer and have been around 4k for 3 years now.
The price is unreal! Thanks to SEIKI, TCL, and Hisense people on a budget can buy a 4k TV for under a $1000. With SEIKI having a 39" option you can get it for less than $500.
Can you tell the difference between 1080P and 4k on a small 39" display? Yes, Yes you can tell a difference and it looks amazing!
Would you buy a $500 4k TV or a high end 1080p set at this point? 4k all the way. Even on a so-so set, 4k blows away your 1080P TV!
Can you use it as a computer monitor? Yes, look around on forums for more information about your computer because there are variables to consider. I am running it on my 15" retina Macbook Pro (2012) and it is working perfectly! If anyone has questions about using 4k TV's on Apple computers I am glad to help!
The build quality actually surprised me!
-It has a thick sturdy glass base for stability
-a very thin bezel that stays out of the way of the picture.
-3 HDMI ports. Usually no frills TV's only have 2.
- A detailed menu with ability to tweak many aspects of the picture/color output. (Very important for a video editor like myself)
Now out of the box it's not calibrated well. I found some great settings that make it look twice as accurate. Most TV's are not properly calibrated out of the box and this is no exception. If you own the set and want to know my settings PM me. Calibrating it made me feel like I added about $500 to the picture quality! HIGHLY RECCOMMENDED.
They saved production costs in all the right places. Speakers and WIFI are pointless when you have a couple of decent speakers to plug in and a box like the Nuvola, AppleTV, ROKU, WD etc. These boxes are better than any built in wifi crap on the set itself.
This is a perfect companion for the upcoming Nuvola NP-1. Good move for SEIKI to partner with NTEK because it will be NTEK that makes SEIKI a known name in TV.
If you have any questions about the set or want my calibration settings PM or reply.
All in all the TV is a great buy for the price and I am happy with it. Can't wait to plug a Nuvola into it!
I hope this helps someone because I did a lot of research on this thing and would like to share the knowledge.
One of those T-trades was me at .0151. People were buying so fast the MM's couldn't even post!!!
You realize, these guys are offering different services. The guy in that article is a producer/content creator. They do production. NTEK so far is doing content conversion.
NTEK is staring at $10,000 for film conversion, This company is starting at $15,000 for content creation. These prices are irrelevant…
So far, NTEK has not mentioned any purchases of cameras, or production equipment (yet).
FYI you can get a simple 4k production shot and edited for much less then $15000 dollars… This company isn't competition, if anything its just another production company for NTEK to potentially acquire content from..
There is also the NAB show in April. NTEK is not on the list either, but they are still accepting exhibitors. Hopefully they make it, because I will be there and I would love to do videos. Seiki isn't on the list either, but maybe they haven't signed on yet.
nabshow.com April 7-10th.
Just so you all know TigerDirect.com has the 39" Seiki for $499. Quite the early black friday deal!

Bodach has a way of being spot on. Hope your right this time too. Can't wait for the double digits again!
WOW! 50" 4k TV SALE!
Tiger Direct has a $335 coupon in the 50" 4k TV. Here's the link. I think I'll get a Nuvola with the savings!
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/search.asp?keywords=seiki+4k
haha ok... I bet you the only people that watch QVC still have black and white TV's and dial-up!!!
Ugh, I hope not. If they don't get brick and mortar like best buy, walmart, radioshack, etc.. I would like to see it online with Tigerdirect, Newegg, etc...
Although, the company mentioned they know the big names will probably win the market in the end. they could still have a great run bundling with TV sets from companies like SEIKI.
I think TigerDirect.com just got more 50" Seiki's in stock. I have a business to business associate who will tell me when they get the new 39" in as well. (Assuming they carry them. Seems likely since they have the 50")
Can't wait for AM!
It's under "sports" on the FRONT PAGE.

haha yeah. The government refuses to feed it's own people, what mouth breather would assume their going to distribute vodka to over 20m people.
The VICE documentary did bring some media attention to Rodman, which in turn will bring attention to BRND.

Ya, whats up with WORL and higher bid than ask? makes lv2 hard to read!

Dang Bodach! Way to call it!
Good to see a move here! Think more fun is in store for Monday?
You would think something would be happening today...
