Ha ha, don't think I could get from Moscow to Berdyansk by any means except by car. Besides, I'd never make it past the border. American Passport, they would think I was friends with "Super Joe" Yes, Mariupol the center of the fighting. This is the city where the AZOV Regiment was holed up in a Steel Plant. I've taken a Train from Mariupol back in the 90's. I rode a bus once to Melitopol through Zaporizhzhia to Kiev. So it was Planes, Trains and Automobiles. Always an eye opener.
These people are having a hard time feeding themselves and staying warm let alone to be able to buy Vazkepa. Lots of cigarette smokers and alcohol drinkers, poster children for what not to put in your body. I'll say one thing these people in Eastern Europe walk a lot more than Americans do. I didn't see any drive throughs.
Ex-wife really wants to go to Ukraine to be with her mom and brother. Not possible now. We went in October 2021. Do you know it's 37 Degrees F in Berdyansk, Ukraine @ 7 AM? It was 21 degrees F here in Camp Verde, AZ @ 7 AM this morning. Unreal.
Heard Super Joe is in South Africa, something to do with coal reserves?
That's really unfortunate. Can you give us some insights on how they did it? I had a friend who got his bank account drained, he thought it may have happened at a gas pump. There may have been some type of reader that was placed on the stations reader. It's called "Skimming."
https://www.bankrate.com/finance/credit-cards/how-to-protect-your-wallet-from-gas-station-scams/#:~:text=The%20most%20common%20scam%20is,used%20to%20make%20fraudulent%20charges.
I’m sure as heck not traveling to Europe anytime soon. What if? I had a heart attack? What if? I needed a labotomy? But, I’d rather have a bottle in front of me…. :D)
Medicare would say….we don’t know any nukemtiltheyglow? Plus, even if I was admitted to the hospital, it would be like trying to find help in Home Depot or Walmart?
That’s insurance just in case the “Russian Hordes” were invade? Funny thing is, you can’t eat a plane?
The problem with this board is you folks way “overthink” this dilemma. The what if scenarios….blah, blah, blah. It’s the economy, no wait it’s Nissan, no wait maybe it’s the insurance companies, no wait it’s the FDAs fault….? Really?
During hard times (caused by ineptitude), human behavior goes into survival mode. Guess what? When folks can’t afford to put food on the table or stay warm they’re surely not going to spend it on their health. It’s the Popcorn and spaghetti mentality.
Don’t tell that to Novartis, after their purchase of Medco for $10B. Heck, who’d want to pay $7k a year for two (2) shots of Inclisiran?
Thanks North, So, the IDMC oversees Clinical trials. However, it's not a one stop shop from what I'm reading? Although Clinical Trials are vital to the industry. Is the IDMC a truly highly recognizable Peer Organization in the Pharmaceutical World. Or is it a minor blip on the radar? Is it staffed with Professionals who are respected in the Industry? Does it provide a roadmap for all drug producers to follow? The words "Standards of Excellence." come to mind?
I'm afraid the Generics wouldn't stand up in the real world of High Standards? Whereas Vascepa has withstood so much headwinds, it's unbelievable what this drug has been through. It's like there's been a concerted effort to destroy this little company from the beginning? management is another issue.....
Creates honesty amongst thieves. It surely wouldn't allow people like Nissen to exist, here's why.... In our Usta plant INPO would evaluate and rate each power plant. After their evaluation they would provide a rating to the plant management. This rating was valuable in that it provided our insurers (yes, Nuclear Plants have insurance...!!!) the basis for setting our Premiums if you can get the gist of that? Sound familiar?
A Peer evaluation of Nissen and his organization or who funds his studies would "hopefully' provide a no-nonsense approach to drugs. Now, the question remains, where do we find an honest man or woman? In the end it's all about money. There-in lies the mantra that should be upheld...The #1 Priority is the Health and Safety of the Public. Who oversees that?
Not for a shell company?
ORBAPU; Understand the dilemma. Aerospace Industry shouldn't be any different than the Nuclear Industry. The number one Priority is to Preserve and Protect the Safety of the Public. Looks like Boeing lost sight of that. Three Mile Island, Chernobyl was another Fubar. We call it the Swiss Cheese effect. Even with barriers in place Murphy rears his ugly head.
You mean the software problems with Boeings 737? https://www.fierceelectronics.com/electronics/killer-software-4-lessons-from-deadly-737-max-crashes#:~:text=Instead%20of%20increasing%20the%20length,raise%20its%20nose%2C%20Travis%20noted.
So, the FAA had oversight and made recommendations on Boeings Software? Or chose to rely on Boeings Expertise with the software? They apparently bought off on the idea because the FAA had no experts who could analyze the software? If Boeing made it, it must be okay? Who Peer reviewed it?
Who Peer reviews the Opioids? Is the FDA smart enough to provide guidance on opioid use and the dangers there of? I haven't seen any evidence that they even regulate dangerous drugs. I guess educate me about Peer reviews and shoulda, woulda, coulda....
You're not understanding my point. The FDA is run by government employees. Whereas a Self regulating body is not, it's private sector. For example; In my usta line of work, Nuclear worker, we had the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC US Government) and Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO) which was funded by Electric Utility Companies. Although INPO was not the ultimate decision maker, it was staffed by Industry Experts (Subject Matter Experts) such as Engineers, ex-Nuclear Navy, Maintenance Journeyman who can provide quality oversight of Nukes in the USA. It is a "Peer" Organization who's charter it is to improve all aspects of Nuclear Operations and Performance.
The NRC allowed us to Build and Operate Power Plants (NRC License), but INPO added another dimension by conducting performance evaluations on all areas of the Power Plant such as Operations, Engineering, Maintenance and Training. The NRC had review authority over our processes, but INPO provided a deeper dive into those processes and made recommendations on how to improve on those processes.
My point being; the FDA has oversight on the Pharmaceutical Industry, but don't forget the FDA stands for the Food and Drug Administration. A tall order. They need help, as it appears to me IMHO there is no "Peer" (private sector) Organization that I helps to improve the Pharmaceutical Industry. Sure there's quasi groups perhaps IFPMA https://www.ifpma.org/ Who we are: IFPMA promotes sustainable solutions that encourage innovation and improve patients’ health around the world. Blah blah......Or there's the NCBI (National Center Biotechnology Information) https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/guide/#:~:text=The%20National%20Center%20for%20Biotechnology,Organization%20%7C
These groups say nothing about Peer evaluations. How are these organizations staffed? What kind of credentials and expertise do they provide?
That's all I'm saying, where does the rubber meet the road?
Captain, agree, now you can see where a government run regulatory entity is pretty much useless in today’s world. There is no regulation in the Pharmaceutical Industry. This is very apparent. Either that or they’re bribed to look the other way?
So, the Pharmaceutical Industry doesn’t need a Self-Regulating body? Think again.
Simply put, the Big Pharmaceuticals pay into and provide oversight for existing and especially new drugs approved by the FDA. Let them (BP) fight it out which drugs are going to be marketed and provide justification. Is there honor among thieves?
Raf, sorry to say this, but you're sending a message to deaf ears. The only thing these people understand is lawsuits. Of course then they will tie it up in our court systems for years.
I'm sure many of us wish we would have an answer to all of this. Don't get too stressed out about it, it will all be revealed.
I was close, I was guessing, the guy who sold me the Humana Plan did tell me $160 range.
DAR; ROKU was a good play, it closed Friday at $51.74.
I’m becoming disenchanted with Streaming TV, why? Because any good movies (ad free) cost money to rent. Plus the subscription prices you have to pay for decent shows, sports, movies puts you right back where you started before cutting the cord. There’s so many players in the field it’s really confusing. I’m thinking cable & satellite TV have nothing to worry about. Streaming TV will cut its own throat in the long run. Too greedy.
Yes Libtard, that’s right!!!
Invest; hard to believe but true. Humana has Vascepa at Tier 3. I’ll be paying $70 for a 90 day script. Mail order however. I dropped my BCBS plans, which I was paying $200 a month extra. The gubmint isn’t going to advertise this on a billboard since the gubmint is footing the bill.
I haven’t seen my Medicare Part B premium yet but I was told it’s going to $167 a month?
zman; I saw the keyword: BCBS, are you eligible for Medicare? If so, the Medicare Advantage Plans allow retirees to drop their supplemental plans and just pay one premium per month. It's called a Medicare Part C which covers prescription drugs and additional copays. I know I'm going to hear about it from the naysayers on how I'm taking advantage of the system, but who cares. I've paid my dues so they can stick it somewhere.
I remember buying AMRN shares several months before the Reduce-It results around $3. I would buy like 500 shares every other paycheck. My friends and family thought I was nuts, until the “Big Day” (Reduce-It) results hit the news wires.
Tard
Yes, Las Vegas Raiders, one of the few teams my AZ Cardinals also beat in the last few minutes of their game earlier in the season. Must have been a primer for the other games?
Dar; October 2018 pre-ADCOM (#2), I'd sold AMRN around $17+. Felt like an idiot as AMRN shares kept going to $26. I said don't chase the train as it's left the station. So, I took my profits and bought 10k shares of ROKU (around $40) plus others (NIO EVs, Halliburton, XOM, Schlumberger etc.) So, don't feel so bad, we all make mistakes. Of course this time was when the markets were really humming along. Shoulda, woulda, coulda.
What I don't understand is Washington DC is supposed to have the sharpest minds on the planet, yet we can't seem to control inflation, bull markets and recessions very well.
Between the Covid fiasco and Joe's oil embargo, well, you can see where these brilliant minds have put our economy.
My only advice is to hang in there, Amarin will come back, we just don't know when.
thanks raf
Ram; You have Baker Mayfield now, maybe the weather had something to do with his performance in Cleveland and Carolina? Nice comeback on TNF. What happened to Stafford?
Here's wishing for a better New Year.
Ramfam; Shameful....What do you think of that trade the Broncos made for Russell Wilson $246 million. Broncos are 3-9, I know people in Colorado are fit to be tied. They're going to ask for some of it back. Griner's probably going directly to the nearest Cannabis shop when she gets home. Gonna buy some Gummy bears this time. no more true bud for that girl.
MRM; already bought 2 weeks ago @ 1.12. Just sitting and waiting. Good news about Switzerland, they're flush with cash from the holocaust. Something nobody wants to talk about.
How about that Griner Trade? Something else huh?
Where's Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer when we really need them? "The hills are alive with the sound of music." I know, the Sound of Music was in Austria. Switzerland is close enough. Now get the Austrians on Vascepa and watch the Germans fold...... :D)
USS Arizona's Mast and Anchor are at the Capital in Phoenix. Someday I'll get to Hawaii.... :D)
I dropped my BCBS plan.
funnygi2 & izzy, too many plans on eHealth, plus nobody home on the phones. deadline was fast approaching (Dec 7th) so had to make a deal. I happened across a Humana Rep today and went with them. $0 deductible, $0 premium. Vascepa is on their Tier 3, Carewell is mail order Pharmacy. Vascepa copay is $75 for 90 days. I'm good with that.
Plus I can cancel my BCBS Supplemental plans which were costing me $200 additional per month. That'll buy a lot of beer and pretzels. Thank goodness for Vascepa and Good Health, I rarely am sick and hardly go to the doctor. Once a year for my annual check-up.
Thanks again for your advice.... :D)
Nuke
North, works for me, thanks.

Hopefully the link opens.
I verified that Karim Mikhail had credentials. For obvious reasons the sight protects students.
jasbg; did you not read North's posts? Really, give it a break.
"If we could only dream....".MDCO got a whopping $10B from NVS buyout. MDCO had approximately 79.93 million shares outstanding. The daily high reached $85? The math doesn't seem right? $10b divided by 79.93 = $125. Am I missing something?
https://www.thestreet.com/quote/MDCO
Hi Lizzy, If you don't mind me asking what are Clovers Premiums for Supplemental Insurance? I currently pay about $200 a month for BCBS which includes a drug supplemental. Besides having Medicare Part D.
thanks Lizzy, Clover Health is available in Arizona. :D)
So, for the more informed, which HMO has Vascepa on it’s 2023 Formulary? I’m currently with BCBS and if I need to change plans I have until December 7th….the “Day of Infamy”
A Degree doesn’t mean squat. Bill Gates dropped out of Harvard to concentrate on building his company. Branson, Dell, Diller didn’t get a degree.
Actions speak louder than words.
I switched from Walgreens to CVS about 6 months ago because Walgreens didn’t stock Vascepa.
