How McCain supports the current Cabal is beyond me ? He's lost any shred of integrity he once had.

Zaga .... only you could truly appreciate this.
TIP # 1 - Enjoy the moment: Take a DEEP breath, and savor the fact that you're witnessing history being made. The outing of Plame was a vicious act, but nothing will be as sweet as watching justice being served.

WLD, I don't believe its wise to overstate our economic predicament. The equity market is psychologically driven and even in some of the worst of times opportunities to make money exist. If you invest dollars in well managed companies to hold longterm you can do well; the drawback to that strategy is tieing up dollars that may not grow in the short-term. I avoid investing dollars that I might need short-term. I don't know enough about the futures market so until I understand that I invest in stocks, bonds and Money markets.
OT: Re: Cheney to resign ?
If Cheney is smart he'd resign before indictments get handed down.

Mixed Economic prospects
PDQ I have to agree I'm trying to position my portfolio for a slow or negative growth period. Hurricane Wilma could do even more economic damage. Expect energy prices to keep going up which will impact consumer prices.
AAPL is perceived as a premium brand with healthy margins, little to No debt so they can weather these turbulent times. At first blush the amount of new products and upgrades that Apple has released recently seems to be overkill, but considering the current economic climate and the increased expectations from wallstreet they are continuing their new found brand momentum.
Anyway, I'm thinking it may be time to get a little defensive in my portfolio- I feel uncertain times ahead.

Apple just keeps making waves
Hey, Ron I Just viewed the one last thing event and the new Front Row and Photo Booth software along with the remote that comes with the new iMac G5 is very compelling. Apple is pulling out all the the stops. The technological advancements that Apple have demonstrated in the last 60 days are both stunning and amazing. I cannot think of another company that comes closer to empowering the average consumer with digital content. Steve Jobs has solidified Apples position in the consumer marketplace like no other and the new iMac G5 will do wonders for Apples PC marketshare.
The next huge task they need to confront is the business and large enterprise markets. I eagerly await the October 19th press announcements for its Pro products.
The only thing that can derail AAPL now is an economic recession.
If you look at the business fundamentals Apple remains a very strong and vibrant tech company whose brightest days are just beginning ....
Apple leads in the Digital content market which is just emerging from its infancy Apple is a long term hold and a strong buy even at the current price.
Best Always,

That's awesome bootz.eom
Awesome Linda ....
Let us know what you think of the new Pod when it arrives. I've still got my expectations set on a 4 GB iPod Nano for XMas. The new improved iMac G5 may very well be my next system.
Are you holding on to any Apple shares ?
I hope you bought some on the dip.

Bootz .... Breakout !!!!
Scooped up 200 shares at $47.50 a pretty nice haul today. I expect their may be some more volatility coming people will question wether the digital Video Business will be viable .... I'm staying long this time. Another couple of bullish rallies like this one and I wouldn't be surprized if another stock split is in the offing.
-Alt
USB and Firewire
Blue, USB 1.1 draws less juice than USB 2.0.
Apple is abandoning Firewire on iPods inorder to deliver a product that supports generic PC hardware. Since mainstream PeeCee manufacturers like Dell will not make Firewire a standard port they are settling for USB 2.0. Firewire has been an optional add-on for Dell systems for awhile now.The future of Firewire will probably end up on high end systems ... unless they can get MacIntel Mobos to support firewire.

True enough Dill
The quarter of a billion dollars they've thrown at media buys to show how colorful and creative Windows can be, is wasted, as the reality that they are not an innovator and there are much cooler options for consumer creativity apps & services
but Microsoft has found its true calling .... the game console.
I think there XBOX 360 is going to rock ... well until Sony gets its PS3 out.
Man, I've gotta check if I've come down with the Redmond Flu I just said one positive thing about MICROSOFT ....
Gee, I hope its not fatal.

Core it's happening
The main competition MSFT is so busy buying up companies and trying to copy Tiger 10.4 rather than work on a new approach to the Operating System. You can get away alot of the time copying other peoples work but eventually people catch on and well .... the jig is up.
Expect Apple's 10.5 Leopard to pounce around the same time Microsoft's Tiger copy (ShortHorn) is ready to appear.
In the mean time look for POD people .... they'll be everywhere.

The building renovation and Chair companies must be doing a booming business in Redmond. How many chairs do you think ballmer goes through in a month ?
.....The Competition plots Apples iTunes demise.
BG: We can buy Tivo and setup the Microsoft Media Center Store and crush them lnto Apple Cider.
Ballmer to BG: Yeah, That's a good one Bill .... Let's call Mikey he'll sell anything !!!!

AAPL 53.82 in after hours
I learned an important lesson when I discounted the importance of the iPod when Apple first introduced it. Digital content is a new market and Jobs is smart at marketing this content at a reasonable price. The $1.99 price point for commercial free content is right on the money.
Jobs second hat as CEO of PIXAR made this happen !!!!
This is going to get very interesting. If the Video content sells well you can be sure that more programming will be on its way.
I would love to be a fly on the wall of a rival network executive mumbling how do we get some of this action.
This also has the potential of bringing the small independent filmmaker a new revenue stream.
Apple's future looks very bright indeed.
Go AAPL !!!!

New iPod iTunes 6 feedback
Nice AAPL bounce 51.38. I'm not very impressed by the video capabilities of the new iPods but then I don't watch any network or Music Video programming. IMHO the new iPod's are aimed at a much younger demographic that are into the kind of programming Disney is shilling these days. I was hoping for a turnkey Video entertainment device to rival TIVO but I can do this with a low cost MacMini and peripherals. As a mainstream product the new iPods will sell well. This is the beginning of AAPL fully leveraging its very robust Quicktime technologies. Jobs and iger are leading the way into what will become a very big market over the next decade. Now that Microsoft and Realnetworks have buried the hatchet we may actually see something that will rival the iTunes store. The addition of Video support puts Apple just one step ahead of the competition again. I remain both bullish and optimistic on Apple's future.
-Alt
KCWM I just bought 200 shares to hold long term.
If your looking for a short-term gain then it completely depends on a reaction to what gets announced today. I'm very pleased with AAPL's progress in CPU sales which I think attests to the iPOD HALO effect.
AAPL is still a very risk stock at this time because of its PE you'll have to make your own call on this one.

Yes, Linda ....I have to agree ....
barring a Video iPod or MacIntel systems the upside news is already priced in. I've got a buy order on AAPL below 50.00 a share .... I'm looking long-term and I see Apple making bigger inroads over the next decade so anything below $50.00 is my criteria for buying back in. I'm basing this on the number of switchers to Apple hardware in the organization I support on a daily basis.

Apple Retail Observation
Dropped by an Apple Store on a rainy New England afternoon this weekend to find it crowded with 20 - 30 year olds checking out iPod Nano's and systems. In the hour their I observed the sale of Two Powerbooks, Five iPod nano's, One iMac G5, Two Mac Mini's and my Son purchased a Harry Potter deluxe game. Apple is doing much better with a younger demographic. iPod Nano is just plain hip and selling well.

OT: Gonzaga I still think you've got some stones !!!!
OT: data migration
DataViz makes a batch conversion utility that converts text and spreadsheet files among all of the major formats. I've used it many times. Database migration is pretty easy if the data is in sql format; However alot of database applications use a proprietary data format.
-Alt
OT: Software Licensing
Everytime you agree to use a Windows product by agreeing to their licensing terms you acknowledge that Microsoft is not legally responsible for your data loss. Until businesses and consumers decide to demand accountability for software products companies like Microsoft can get away with this nonsense. Could you imagine agreeing to a license for the purchase of a new Automobile which make it impossible to hold the manufacturer responsible for defects. Refusing to agree to software licenses that prevents us from holding these companies accountable is the quickest way to motivate change. We need a Lemon law for software.

Deficet Spending on iPod Nano's ?
Waiting for the market to shake-out before I start bargain hunting.
It will take awhile before people digest the overdue economic consequences from hurricane Katrina and our Spend, Spend and Spend some more govr'mnt. Damn, freak'in Tax and Spend lib *** ... Oh, wait this a republican controlled America. Damn, freak'in Spend and Spend conservative crackers.
We need to get them Corporate Welfare CEO's out of their Boardrooms and Mercedes-Benz's and get them back to work smartly equipped with iPod Nano's.
If Apple falls below Fifty I'll buy back in and double my existing position. Glad I sold the majority of my shares into ready cash.

AAPL buying opportunity ?

OT: MSFT rant
Dill MSFT could turn this around if they would be willing to adapt to a new reality that better software exists at significantly less cost. If they would cut their premium prices and recognize that Open Source isn't going away anytime soon they have a good chance to keep the status quo. Microsofts reorganization is a good first step but without MSFT Open Sourcing some of their product and rewriting code for security sake you can expect the competition to keep chipping away at their business for years to come.

Hi Linda AAPL continues its bull run.
I'm still in AAPL and may buy more on a pullback. Right now I'm making some decent profit from ECA and ACCL. Energy stocks seem to be the BIG winner in the market right now. AAPL is a big exception because of iPod Nano, Mac OS X and its track record of surprising the market with products that differentiate them from traditional PC vendors.
-Alt
OT: AAPL as a Monopoly ?
Maybe, if you can count the Hasbro board game.
IMHO, If only one vendor existed for flash memory I would say you could accuse AAPL of monopolistic behavior but acquiring parts for their product when multiple vendors exist doesn't really make the cut. Is anything preventing these vendors from ramping up production on flash memory to serve a larger market ?
The problem with the MP3 player market is the competition ? No serious marketing or engineering innovations for a Hip MP3 player competitor. Its not pricing or even product designs its the whole iTunes/iPod software and hardware experience that the competition hasn't been able to best. Americans will typically pay a premium for a product that is perceived as being superior. Until the competition can match the whole iPod experience Apple will continue to gain share.
