Bruce, a steel stock from our area is Schnitzer Steel (SCHN). It's already had quite a run this year. More to come? I have 1/2 a position and will hold long term.
Well stated. I'll second that notion. Matt, are you listning?
Gern holding well here. BTK actually up so far.
Newly2b, The system we have is an AquaStar by Bosch. It was more expensive than the normal systems because it allowed for the input from the solar system. Prewarmed (solar) water comes into the system but it is further heated by natural gas.
Caution: A tankless system doesn't work well if you have a lot of people in the house. The outflow stream is limited. For instance you couldn't have two showers running and the laundry operating at the same time.
A system w/o solar input is about $5-600.
Newly2b, I recently got a tankless water heater that is tied to my old Copper Cricket solar system. Two points to make ;
Get a tankless system that doesn't have a pilot lite. Because my system had a pilot lite, I was unable to get the tax credits.
It still takes a long time for the water to heat up because the tankless heater is a long way from the kitchen/bathroom.
Thanks, Newly2b, much appreciated.

I recently purchased the new Quicken program because it claimed to do the schedule D. Unfortunately it only goes back 90 days in my brokerage acct. The brokerage says it's Quicken's software and that they offer up all the data for 2003. They also say Microsoft Money goes back 2 years.
Does anyone have a solution that doesn't require buying yet another program or entering all the trades by hand?
TIA
CELL showing more weakness today.
BLTI movin'
BLTI never joined the party today. We should see it test 17.75 soon.
I would venture it has three masters. POG, currency valuations and company internals.
In edit, hopefully NEM is now back within the 44-50 box
Whatever AG is saying must be good for gold.
Anybody follow RHAT? Got stopped out today, looking to re-enter at 17.50
Here's hoping NEM blows right thru 44
sold SNDK @50 for a loss of 3.5 ouch
Watch it fly now.<G>

Somebody wasn't too impressed w/ the SNDK presentation
Joe,
Stop was at 52.79. They went around it during afterhours so I pulled it prior to the open. Prolly a mistake. (SNDK)
Couldn't sell SNDK at a reasonable price at the open. Just have to hope we get a bounce. Next support seems to go back to the August low around 47.
Added DROOY. Gold dominating my port these days.
XAU testing 93....again.
I've been wanting to add RHAT to my swing positions but it looks pretty dangerous here this am. It could go to 15 very easily. I'll wait for now.

I hope they paint them gold.>G

It will be interesting to see how this all plays out. Obviously, the announcement didn't have a very great impact on the market so far. I can't imagine they will get much resistance to that plan (internally). Let's hope they proceed to buy gold.
I stepped aside from PCZ at 45. It will be interesting how it handles 42.5. My OB (as per your analysis as well) is 40. Thanks for the heads up. Does the double dividend change your plan?
nwsailor
My plan on NEM and GG has been LTBH with a few traders thrown in. Most shares are from last spring. It's been a very painful couple of weeks as I watched NEM drop from 50 to 40+ change. Almost a 20% drop in the largest holding in my port. No way can I add here, I'm already overweighted. It's starting to remind me of the shorts I had in Expedia. At this point I'll obviously stay with the plan, but I sure feel like the village idiot.
Health Care Services Industry Profile
Profiting from someone else's misery isn't as easy as it seems, but the opportunity is present. The US health care services market, the world's largest, is worth nearly $1.4 trillion, while the European market is worth about $700 billion. Many companies, though, have failed miserably trying to claim some of that money.
A problem (and an opportunity) is the rising demand for services. People are living longer and need more care. The rise and fall of long-term care centers in the US is an example of the peril. Such firms as Kindred Healthcare, Sun Healthcare, and Beverly Enterprises, which once built and bought nursing homes and opened home care and other specialized care units, are now hurting. Taking care of patients requiring expensive drugs and other care drains budgets. Cutbacks prescribed in the 1997 Balanced Budget Act didn't help: Starting in 1998, providers were reimbursed based on per-day cost caps, not on the total cost of care.
In most nations, though, the government controls health care, but many of those are also suffering as costs rise and demand exceeds capacity. The UK National Health Service has announced it will team with such private sector providers as BUPA to help clear crowded waiting rooms.
Slashed budgets create a domino effect. The competition among health care supply distributors, including Alliance UniChem, McKesson, and Owens & Minor, has heated up as facilities look to cut their number of vendors and the costs of their supplies. These distributors are among the industry's leaders in adopting new technology to help cut costs.
Technology may not be the industry's panacea. Loading patient and payor information, supply orders, and other administrative red tape onto computers organizes information and helps reduce costly errors, but many doctors are reluctant; after all, learning the system takes time -- time that could be spent providing care to patients. Technology solutions are also pricey and don't often fit into budgets.
Joe,
I recently added HLSH to the port as a LTBH. Thanks for the heads up. Bought in at 5. I heard on the news that one of th ehospitals in CA was selling several hospitals and having to spend literally billions to upgrade others to CA earthquake standards. Would you expect HLSH to bear a similar fate here?
Joe, do you know if they have any buildings in CA that need seismic upgrades?
PCZ never hit my OB at 45

Petro-Canada 4th-Quarter Net Fell 44%
Thursday January 29, 8:06 am ET
CALGARY (Dow Jones)--A variety of factors sent Petro-Canada's (NYSE:PCZ - News) fourth- quarter earnings down about 44%.
