I thought the same thing so I went back and found this
During first nine months 2009, the company generated $307.0 million of free cash flow1 compared to $77.2 million in 2008. First nine months 2009 free cash flow was driven by receipt of the first two of four $100.0 million installments from Samsung under its patent license agreement and new prepayments from two existing licensees totaling $182.4 million, offset in part by cash-based operating expenses, capital investments, and changes in working capital. As of October 28, 2009, the company had repurchased approximately 1.0 million shares for $25.0 million since the inception of the March 2009 $100.0 million share repurchase program.
An argument or contest of wills, often mean-spirited and over trivial or insignificant matters.
From the alcohol-induced sport of urinating for distance.
Can anyone tell me where the expression "pissing contest" came from?
I think we will start to see folks come into IDCC in the near future. over the past 4 months we have had a nice run in the markets and once IDCC/NOK ruling came out a lot of people went hunting for other momo plays. now that the markets are going down, and likely will into early 2010, they will come for companies with clean balance sheets and earnings. we will see a steady clime from here. this, of course, is my own opinion and has not been influenced by any outside forces, be they optimistic nor pessimistic. all views expressed here are done with forward looking thoughts in mind.
Micky - why in the world would you go to a worlds fair? LOL
I been to 3 world fairs and 2 billy goat screwings and I haven't ever seen anything like the way they are treating this good financial news.
I agree with your assessment on licensee fear. it's just going to take some time for WS to come back. I can wait.
I say the 2 most recent payments are from APPL and RIMM
nice find. They are a toss it at the wall and hope to snow the judge kind of company. even to try that defense is bold.
At .001 I doubt anyone would give them a penny. Well, a penny would get you 10 shares. LOL
your right. I apologize to 2 year olds.

I use IE8 and don't have a problem with any other sites I visit eating content. this is a web site problem in dealing with IE8 that other sites have been able to deal with. as far as pop ups go, I have 98% blocked just by turning on blocker. it alerts me that a block has happened and I can temporarily allow pop ups for one site or all sites if I want.
If I use the feture on this web site that allows the viewing of 10 or more posts at a time this issue does not happen. I had to go to view posts one at a time before I saw the problem.
Hope this helps iHub solve their programming problem.
I have the same problem only on iHub. If you look at more than one post at a time (ie use show next 10 posts). it works fine. I thought it might be ihub blocking certain host sites that they consider competitors. I don't know, but just my thought. use view next xxx posts and you will be able to see the links.
Why is this top 3
we woke up today and decided as a group that we would try to get to top 1, but we just could not do it. ya win some, ya lose some.
only his pay check!
miller are you from bangalore?
to me, what bites the crank is that the analyst pull the "estimate" out of their azz and it becomes Gospel. Why not listen to the company and notice that the earnings are very good. Like I said before, Analyst do and say what they do to benefit themselves and their clients. Not us retail folks. the only time they share with us is when it benefits them. Period.
Yang and the judge did the same thing this weekend. they both unexpectedly put it in the hole.
this post by revlis is the one we should key in on.

Thanks whizzer.
I was fooled by the language of IDCC 10-K. It did not mentioned the Court of Appeal. I should have accounted for the Court of Appeal.
There is also something else for IDCC investors to keep in mind.
The ALJ decision only effected those Nokia products in the complaint. I think IDCC could take Nokia again to the ITC if Nokia introduces a new product and IDCC determines that product infringes one of the 4 patents. Judge Luckern determined that all 4 IDCC patents are valid.
Also just because the Judge determined that Nokia did not infringe, it does not mean he or another judge would come to same conclusion for another manufacturer products.
i.e. I think if IDCC files another complaint, IDCC will make sure that the product uses a half rate convolutional encoder.
mo
NOK got lucky by convincing the judge that they don't use that method in their phones. The judge made the statement that the patents are valid and enforceable. that statement has made it difficult for any of our current licensees to claim the same thing that NOK got away with here. We will be ready for that claim specifically if it is put out there by another company. I think the judge took the easy way out on this by splitting the baby. whether he did it to punish both sides for not meeting his 8-7 deadline for a settlement or he just is a split the baby kind of guy. I personally think any judge who splits the baby is not doing his job. He is paid to make the hard decisions.
also, this is exactly why ther was a marksman added to any technical cases. Marksman was put in to place as a result of IDCC vs MOT. Will we now get a Marksman in ITC cases following IDCC vs NOK? I don't like being the guinea pig.
we back?

Over on CAPS, 978 of the 1,024 members who have rated InterDigital -- 95.5% -- believe the stock will outperform the S&P 500 going forward. These bulls include cut4dough and All-Star PinochleHead, who is ranked in the top 10% of our community.
Just last month, cut4dough singled out InterDigital as particularly perfect for this series: "I really think that this company is poised for greatness. With their patent portfolio, winning record in litigation of those patents, and the current acceptance and proliferation of 3+ G technologies, they should see tremendous upside."
In an earlier pitch, PinochleHead expands on the stock's patented potential:
Wireless communications are one of the few areas currently showing substantial growth, and [InterDigital] holds a slew of patents on circuitry that makes those communications possible. They just concluded legal actions and contracts that raise their presence from being in about 20% of the cell phones and 802.11 wireless devices on the planet to being in about 50% of them, and they could at some point be literally getting a little piece of change from the sale of every single one. THAT is an attractive growth prospect.

She likely would have paid IDCC years ago. At that age there is no ego to overcome, unlike some Finnish folk who enjoy taking a ladder into a herd of reindeer for an evening of entertainment. :)

Micky,
I went back and re read his post. I stand by my remark due to the fact that he has a history of posting mostly negativeity shrouded in question. It may be his inquizative nature, but he always struck me as a nay sayer.
with that said, I don't think WM was indicating a poor chance of settelment. I think he was answering a question of what if we loose then what?
his post
Am I correct to assume from these posts that the call does not bring much confidence of a settlement before the ALJ rules?
only you could come to that conclusion. and I would expect no less from you.
another amen!
Amen Brother!
if it keeps me dry too then that is an added advantage!
That is some serious "dot-connecting".
it is not roll up I want. that is too hard to carry around. I want a 8x11 screen that folds to the size of a common cell phone. when it is folded I can use it as a phone. when open I can use it as a phone/computer both at the same time.
you may have a roll-up OLED screen
Amazon may like the name, but they are not going to like the price this "group" will want to pay! $0. it will be touted as Amazon doing their "civic" duty.
Amazon.com should like the name of their proposal: “A Kindle in Every Backpack: A Proposal for eTextbooks in American Schools,” by the Democratic Leadership Council, a left-leaning think tank, was published on the group’s Web site Tuesday.
Jim,
you quote Loop regarding the bull dog but I am not sure you speak for him. I for one an glad they have not bent over just to get the small dogs. that is not why I am here. I want the ten bagger here, Just as you did 10 years ago. in 10 years I may have the same outlook as you do today. we shall see.
One of Kohl's main questions in this arena involves text messaging, where he notes that the price of individual text messages doubled for all four top wireless carries in two years. "These identical price increases are hardly consistent with the vigorous price competition we hope to see in a competitive marketplace," Kohl's letter said.
It is funny that he makes this statement while at the same time his voting record indicates he wants anything BUT a competitive marketplace
I agree with the licencing tactic that management has taken. they spend their resources to fight the big boys. If they win, all the little dogs will fall in line. If they need money to continue the battle with the big dogs, they bend over in town square and give someone a sweetheart deal. no sense in giving sweetheart deals to every tom dick or harry just to increase their popularity with share holders. I will stick by management until I disagree with the road they choose, if I disagree with them I will part ways and find a company I agree with. That is the great part about a free market. If I don't like the plan I can sell it along with the stock.
Just my opinion on investing and business plans.
Data, Absolutely ridiculous how our licensing department has disappointed us investors.
Your post is not a surprise. I think it proves his point.
Re: "shorts"
Such a demagogic, populist post, such an appeal to ignorance and prejudice, is beneath your dignity.
interesting concept
dog - your getting feisty in your old age!
As a potential investor in IDCC
there is a crock a crap. you been stiring the pot for years. you are an anti-investor.
THAT is the most truthful post of the day. EOM
you are so right about South America. Brazil will lead the way. We will have our talent leave here for SA just as they leave India for here now, unless they finish that fence on the Mexican border and use it to keep people IN the US sr.
I think we are looking at a big shift, not toward government intrusion into private business, but more nationalization of our private sector. It is happening now and no one gives a rip. Soon it will be too late and it will not matter to the little guy. Those who are orchestrating this power grab are the same folks who you are asking to get more serious. looking out for the public's interest is counter to their desire.
