In fairness in triple A he would give up the runs in the 1rst he gave up and than no more. So going according to the same playbook in the big leagues. I like the fact that he was able to settle down after the first several batters. He has very good stuff in my opinion. Obviously way way too early, but I do like the stuff in my opinion.
On the other hand the A's are going to be at .500 after play today, which to me is the biggest surprise in all of baseball. I mean this is a team that was slated for better than 100 losses. Not sure if it's the manager or the schedule or what, but for a club with a 63 million dollar payroll to put up the same record as a team with a 308 million dollar payroll, even after 1 month of the season, says that when it comes to building a roster, someone knows what they're doing. And someone doesn't!
There's a lot of contending teams in the bottom tier of the payroll ladder.

After a shaky start in the 1st, Scott has settled in nicely---kid looks like he can pitch...
Gonna be interesting---HOF offensively to this point---guy plays everyday---defense better than advertised--and it all comes for a lousy $1/2B LOL
$500M and he is all yours.
He made sure he handled the DPs today knowing Boone was watching.
I realize you're not a fan of Gray or Monty but the fact is Cashman and Blake gave up on them and since then they have moved on and excelled. The list of bad trades Cashman has made just go on and on.
I think he would look better in a mets uniform in 2025. Don't you agree. LOL.
LOL..be a good idea
Are the Yankees running a 50/50 raffle at each home game to pay Juan Soto's next contract as a charity?
Is Gleyber Torres trying to force a trade at the deadline?
Methinks Sonny doth protest too much---his difference in slider use in NY vs across his career was negligible---same with his curve ball--his 2017 #'s were down but he pitched more innings for Oakland that season than NY--no idea how that breaks out
https://www.fangraphs.com/players/sonny-gray/12768/stats#pitch-type
Pathetic franchise. Explains a lot about why Jeter and Kin Ng moved on so abruptly.
Speaking of organzations that I would be ashamed of if I was a fan of them. Dumping salary allready, with Luis Arreaz (A excellent hitter, one of the few they have). They don't do this stuff in any other sport like this. Not that they have much to sell, but selling in the beginning of may is absurd in my opinion.
That is correct, just like trying to change Jordon Montgomery the Yankees organization also wanted Sonny Gray to throw too many sliders, instead of his curveball, which he said sliders are not his strong suit.
He went on to say:
More importantly I'm looking foward to Christian Scott debut tonight.
Didn't the Yankees try to change how he pitched if I remember correctly. Of what pitches he should throw. Why in the world would you try and change a successful pitchers pitches. if true that was the problem when he was with the yankees, not that it was NY.
Didn't he used to pitch for the Yanks? Cashman berate him out of town?

Yankees' Aaron Boone pulls no punches with surprisingly harsh Gleyber Torres quote
Boone didn't have much sympathy here.
By Adam Weinrib | May 3, 2024
Over in one corner of the clubhouse, Torres was talking about how the Yankees were "punched in the face" by the Orioles, a team they'll have to defeat for the division, and a team they were lucky to swipe a game off of in this four-game set where the Yanks scored six total runs.
In the other corner, Boone was flexing his gloves, hitting Torres with a powerful right hook. "It's the big leagues," Boone stated. "You've got to make the play."
And, you know what? You really do have to make that play. Of all the makable plays, this might've been Torres' most makable. Unfortunately, as Joel Sherman pinged weeks ago, the Yankees' second baseman took another trip to fantasy camp at the least opportune time.

Is Aaron Judge playing injured?
It’s a question that no one wanted to have to ask a month into 2024, but a peak at past instances of Judge trying to grind it out offers insight.

Nice to see Verdugo back in the lineup.
They were 30-13 i believe when doc got there. one of the most overrated coaches in history in my opinion. The Lillard Move I was lukewarm on because you had to give up holiday, and he wound up in boston. Lets face it Holiday is not as good as Lillard, but the bucks went from a decent defensive team, to one that wasn't that good, losing holiday, and replacing with lillard. As for the Brewers, I was hoping the cubs would maul them, want the brewers to fade, because I think the cubs are gonna stay over 90. Nice to see houser going to the bullpen, I mean I would prefer a DFA, but we can't get everything we want.
Bucks fan first, but they've won it all very recently, so I'm happy.
Can't say I like the move to bring doc Rivers in to coach. Nor did the Lillard move make much sense. The team has its superstar in Giannis. Everyone else knew their roles. That's how you win.
Love getting that first win at Wrigley. 3-1 is a Brewer's score I'm used to. The new call up, Tyler Black, has been a spark this week, but we still need an innings eater or 2.
Knicks have a real history of choking after the Clyde and Earl the Pearl days.
He doesn't remember those days. Go back to 1970 when Willis Reed, Clyde and Dollar Bill won it all with Willis getting a shot of Cortisone for every game.
And on another note I was in Dick's yesterday and looked at sliding gloves.
Nothing like a 2 inch advantage to touch the base before the tag is applied.
Blocking the plate was a judgement call and he appeared to be in the act of receiving the throw and his foot was on the back of the plate still giving the runner a path to the plate. So the only question left was did his hand come back down on the plate before the tag. The umps said no.
Knicks win so both them and the Rangers move on. Life is good.
He has been very good this season. This is 2022 Marte which was an excellent player. This was a great win by the mets (Every time they look like they are gonna crack, they seem to come up big with a win so far). Thankfully the mets won, no thanks to houser who consistently stinks (As one know I'm not a fan). Sounds like the mets are bringing up Christian Scott on Saturday, the mets #1 pitching prospect (Looking foward to that). And to be fair Butto has looked pretty good so far, as one knows I have been high on his from what I seen in 2023, and even better what we have seen so far in 2024, he knows how to pitch. my scenario for them to have a shot to make it as a third wc, is playing about .500 against the rest of the league, and dominating against colorado, miami, and CWS, that is 22 games, a 16-6 record there gets you to 86 wins, maybe a few games over .500 against everyone else, and maybe you find your way to 88-89. This is the way for them to have a shot. The mets have not played 1 game against those 3 teams yet either.
As for the knicks we will see. Can't say I'm overly confident or overly pessimistic, I kind of feel coin toss. I think Emblid trying to bounce back from all those minutes with only 1 day of full rest might be tough. Plus I don't think Maxey can be as good as he was game 5. Having said that role players generally play better at home than the road, and the knicks we have see how they bounce back (Having said that this is tough team, so I don't think that will be a problem). Now can they get enough scoring from others not named Brunson would help. Divenceo has been a disaster in this series would be nice for him to show up, because outside of game 2, he has been not very good and i'm being nice, he is a big reason why the knicks have terrible 1rst quarters in this series.
Having said all this are u a Knick fan or a Buck fan?
Great pick and tag by Narvaez on the first one...
Marte should pitch! 2 missile strikes at the plate in the same game. Wow. Nice scrappy comeback today. Mets needed this one. Knicks? I'm not confident there. Looking for a redux of John Stark's 2-18 game 7 performance! Knicks have a real history of choking after the Clyde and Earl the Pearl days.
Houser strikes again, another 4 runs in 5 innings. he stinks. I'm glad the man from milwaukee has confidence in him, as he apparently said before the game. With being nice I strongly disagree with him, I cleaned up what I really want to say. This guy is walking a insane number of batters, and he strikes out very few. Can they please DFA him. Enough is enough in my opinion..
Joey wendle with another mistake. Why this guy is on the team is baffling to me. He stinks. What part of this does this gm and manager not understand. he can't play. And he plays waaaaaaaaaaaaay too much. he shouldn't even be on the roster.
And houser is allready in trouble, what else is new, although to be fair although a earned run, it really shouldn't of been a run thanks to the terrible wendle. These are two of my favorite players ever to wear a mets uniform, especially wendle. Obviously foaming with sarcasm. LOL.
Would it have been a nice catch--of course...but the overwhelming majority of ML CFers make that catch---
Martinez AB starts around 2:30 here
https://www.facebook.com/WatchMarquee/videos/recap-cubs-hang-on-to-win-with-crazy-last-play/1497044847580255/
Don't think it was a gift double (Could of the catch been made sure), it would of been an excellent play if pete crow armstrong came up with it though. A gift is when you mess up the routine play, not a somewhat difficult play in my opinion.
Alonso was only in a position to score due to a gift Martinez double after Cubs CF Crow-Armstrong dropped a slightly more than routine fly ball to the gap with 1 out...
He blocked the plate before the ball was even thrown. By rule that should not be allowed in my opinion. Now I can't stand the rule. But rules are rule he should of been safe in my opinion. Furthermore his hand did hit the plate after it bounced simultaneously with the tag, ties goes to the runner. Now with replay, your not gonna get that I understand, but if you watch the video he scored anyways if you didn't have to overcome the conclusive evidence to overturn, and just asked the question did he score or not, the answer would of been yes. Sadly that was a really devastating loss, it paled in comparison to the disaster known as the Knicks the day before, one of the most painful losses ever I experianced as a sports fan, did that mets game have to be the next night. Okay please mets/knicks don't lose in brutal fashion today, these ones are tough to take in my opinion.

His hand bounces while being tagged out.
Cabrera saves the day for the Yankees. Move him up in the batting order already.

Another quality start by Crawford (era 1.60). I’m amazed that I’m starting to like these Red Sox. But they’ve sucked me in before so I’ll give it another month.
Uribe is a highly charged cat. You can see it on the mound in big moments. He's also super young, with little capacity to manage tight moments. Worse than all of that, his right cross is horrible!
Perfect plunk. Caught him right on the thigh.
I think the writer was FOS as well. He's obviously trying to bat down the throw with his oven mitt. The video explains the rule regarding sliding and interference. That sliding glove oversized for his hand and if he wants to use one it should be no longer than his fingers and not look like a seal's flipper. Like I said it was a bush move by him.
Runners left in scoring position, 2 out Judge the last 2 games. Time to get him out of the 3 hole. and hopefully Verdugo's wife had the baby.
I have to say the rule 5 pitcher we got from your beloved Mets is quite impressive so far. Slaten has pitched 17.1 innings with an ERA of 0.58 allowing 1 run and only 2 walks while hitting high 90's on his fastball. Looks like a keeper. Also we should be getting Bello and Pivetta back from IL in about a week. Whitlock maybe in a few weeks.
He still has about $18M comin'...

Well, beat the drum and hold the phone - the sun came out today!
We're born again, there's new grass on the field.
A-roundin' third, and headed for home, it's a brown-eyed handsome man;
Anyone can understand the way i feel.
Chorus:
Oh, put me in, coach - i'm ready to play today;
Put me in, coach - i'm ready to play today;
Look at me, i can be centerfield.
Well, i spent some time in the mudville nine, watchin' it from the bench;
You know i took some lumps when the mighty casey struck out.
So say hey willie, tell ty cobb and joe dimaggio;
Don't say "it ain't so", you know the time is now.
Chorus
Yeah! i got it, i got it!
Got a beat-up glove, a homemade bat, and brand-new pair of shoes;
You know i think it's time to give this game a ride.
Just to hit the ball and touch 'em all - a moment in the sun;
(pop) it's gone and you can tell that one goodbye!

Field of Dreams (1989)
"The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It's been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt, and erased again. But baseball has marked the time.
This field, this game, is a part of our past, Ray.
It reminds us of all that once was good, and that could be again.
Oh people will come, Ray. People will most definitely come."
