Iol. thequestion is HOW?
Thats some serious BS. A sample study indicated a 2% take rate from people trialing FSD. Musk says the number is higher but not likely significantly higher. By having media underreport the numbers when the official numbers come in low but higher than initial "sample" numbers, it helps reduce reaction. Manipulation to control public response. When computers go wrong, we tend to assume it's just some software hiccup, a bit of bad programming. But ionising radiation, including rays of protons blasted towards us by the sun, can also be the cause. These incidents, called single-event upsets, are rare and it can be impossible to be sure that cosmic rays were involved in a specific malfunction because they leave no trace behind them. Plus, since giant ejections from the sun can sometimes send huge waves of particles towards Earth, what's called space weather, an unnerving prospect looms: we could see much more disruption to computers than we're used to during a massive geomagnetic storm in the future

Tesla must face false advertising claims it misled buyers about autopilot and self-driving capabilities
Negligence, fraud allegations advance based on Musk statements
Tesla Inc. must face a proposed class-action lawsuit alleging that it misled consumers about its cars’ self-driving capabilities, a fresh setback for the electric-car maker just as Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk has staked the company’s future on autonomy.
Tesla has been accused of overstating in 2016 that all its upcoming cars would have the “hardware needed for full self-driving capability” and would be able to drive themselves from Los Angeles to New York City by the end of 2017.
“If Tesla meant to convey that its hardware was sufficient to reach high or full automation,” the complaint “plainly alleges sufficient falsity,” US District Judge Rita Lin wrote in an order Wednesday.
Musk declared in April that Tesla is “going balls to the wall for autonomy” while committing the car maker to a next-generation, self-driving vehicle concept called the robotaxi. The billionaire entrepreneur has talked a big game about autonomy for over a decade, and has persuaded customers to pay thousands of dollars for its Full Self-Driving, or FSD, feature. The name is a misnomer — FSD requires constant supervision and doesn’t render vehicles autonomous — but Musk has repeatedly predicted it’s on the verge of measuring up to the branding.
California resident Thomas LoSavio, who filed the complaint, says he bought a new Tesla in 2017 and paid an extra $8,000 for FSD. He alleged that statements by Tesla and Musk led him to believe that his car would have self-driving technology within a “reasonably short period.” But by 2022, Tesla hadn’t produced “anything even remotely approaching a fully self-driving car,” according to his complaint.
LoSavio brought the complaint on behalf of anyone who bought or leased a new Tesla vehicle with Autopilot, Enhanced Autopilot or FSD since 2016.
Without ruling on the merits of his claims, the judge said LoSavio sufficiently alleged certain 2016 statements were misleading, such as all “Tesla vehicles produced in our factory now have full self-driving hardware” and that the cars would be able to drive themselves cross country “by the end of next year without the need for a single touch.”
While Lin allowed some negligence and fraud claims to proceed, she dismissed other claims. Her ruling lets pretrial fact-finding move forward. A decision on whether the case qualifies for class-action status will come later.
The case is In re Tesla Advanced Driver Assistance Systems Litigation, 22-cv-05240, US District Court, Northern District of California (San Francisco).
“We think self-driving tech that’s fully separated from humans is very, very far away, and basically impossible,” Li Yunfei, a spokesperson for BYD, said in Mandarin, translated by CNBC.
“When we think about [self-driving tech] from all aspects, from human psychological safety needs, from ethics, from regulation, from technology — including application in this industry — we haven’t figured out [the logic] and we think it is probably a false proposition,” Li told reporters on the sidelines of the Shanghai auto show on Tuesday.
“There may be many industries and businesses that invest a lot of money on this [tech], and after investing for many years it will prove it leads nowhere,” he said.

Similar accident Wednesday May 15th. Tesla zips in behind a truck in a straight angled path before driving through railing into a house.
2 Adults and 1 toddler in the car so as i said, it not likely they were purposefully speeding indicating possible SUA. Accident occurred around 10:20am. Notice the straight path this Tesla took. The path however was angled from the T intersection. Normally when drunk drivers dont realize this is a T intersection they drive straight into the raid guard. However thats not what this Tesla did as you can see. 45 degree split? Really bizarre how many Teslas do this.

Here's screenshots from the recent Tesla crash along with source video. Did this Tesla suffer Whompy Wheel before it flew out of control? Media does not talk about the sparks that fly along with the Tesla indicating some sort of metal had scraped. What exactly sent it flying? Usually Teslas that hit curbs in of itself, do not fly like this one did.

BYD Showroom Burns to the Ground After One Electric Car Bursts Into Flames
However, one car brand recorded more EV fires than others, at least judging by the number of fire reports over the past years. I'm talking about BYD, Tesla's main rival, partner, and one of the biggest Li-ion battery manufacturers. Many such fires happened in 2021 and 2022, and the carmaker appeared to have solved its quality problems in the past years. However, another fire erupted on Thursday in a BYD showroom in Fuzhou, the capital of the Chinese province Fujian.
According to the Fuzhou Fire Department, the fire started from an electric vehicle parked inside the showroom. A video shared on Chinese social media showed a massive fire engulfing the showroom. Fortunately, nobody was injured during the incident, although 29 firefighters with seven fire trucks fought the blaze for almost an hour. Judging by a video showing the charred remains of the showroom, the fight was unsuccessful. The entire showroom building was burnt to the ground, together with the vehicles inside.
Electric vehicles have a bad reputation when it comes to vehicle fires despite the fact they are far less likely to catch fire than gas-powered vehicles. Statistics revealed that EV fires are about ten times fewer than those affecting combustion vehicles. Bizarrely, hybrid cars are the most likely to catch fire, even when compared to purely ICE cars.
With various impressed external magnetic field intensities an effect was noticed on the charge and discharge curves as well as the charge and mass concentrations within the batteries. With the two-dimensional model starting from 0mT and going to 1mT had the effect of discharging the battery faster and charging the battery faster. With the two-dimensional model starting from 1mT and going to -1mT had the effect of charging the battery faster. In either case an effect on the various characteristics of the battery were studied. With the experiments conducted on the two types of batteries the effect was more profound than subtle. Discharge times were twice as fast and charge times were equally
affected. With the smaller batteries they all generally charged faster under the presence of a magnetic field due to more uniform penetration. In the presence of the field they also discharged faster. The larger batteries would not see the same uniform penetration because only a small area of the battery sees the center of the coil it is placed on

There has been alot of news coverage of the Tesla that was traveling over 100mph with 6 young occupants that got into an accident over this last weekend during the major Geostorm. The news is pushing more about the driver having a suspended license due to a Failure to Appear over a DUI citation. Thus the public that reads this will just assume this driver was intoxicated and driving too fast to impress his friends as Teslas are great for speeding. As a solo incident, thats an easy assumption and what i believe the media is exploiting. However the Tesla was screaming down the road and suddenly veers off course before flying and flipping into a building. The nature of that accident is very similar to yesterdays Tesla accident, also in LA area. Both Teslas were going too fast and both veered off course colliding in different fashions. Yesterdays Tesla accident was not driven by young adults but one or two parents with a Toddler in the back. How likely is it that the parent of that toddler was seriously speeding to the point that she lost control? Very unlikely. What is more likely is the computer system inside the Tesla glitched somehow resulting in sudden unintended acceleration and the driver seems to have lost control of the steering. However the path was an angled straight line based on where the Tesla hit the house and where it was coming from. Thus it looks like the Tesla was in control of steering at this point. Possible Teslas autosteer subsystem, Emergency Lane Departure Avoidance, which is always active when the Tesla is turned on unless specifically disabled each trip.
Emergency Lane Departure Avoidance is activated automatically every time the car turns on and intervenes later (and less often) but more forcefully if the driver allows the car to approach a lane-line too closely or quickly without using a turn signal, or if the car's sensors detect an imminent collision. Drivers can also override this system or turn it off, but it resets as soon as the car restarts.

Good luck and GOD bless,
A car, carrying two adults and one toddler, crashed into a home in Burbank Wednesday, taking out a steel railing and a portion of the house.
The collision happened at 10:15 a.m. when a dark Tesla slammed into the home’s attached garage.
While the three people inside the car did not have life-threatening injuries, the intersection of Vanowen and Buena Vista Streets near the damaged home has always been prone to accidents and collisions, neighbors said.
“There are a lot of people racing, a lot of people speeding. There are always accidents,” Regine Reyes, whose home was struck by the car, said. “Not a lot of people are being safe and cautious when they’re driving through the area.

Electromagnetic waves evoke seizure activity Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) is a noninvasive neuro-electrophysiological technique developed to treat depression, schizophrenia, Parkinson’s disease, epilepsy and other psychiatric and neurological diseases [17]. However, a number of studies have reported that rTMS can induce episodic epileptic seizures in healthy individuals, nonepileptic patients, or patients with epilepsy [18, 19]. Three of 9 healthy participants who received rapid-rate transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), suffered from secondary generalized seizures when stimulated at the highest intensity despite the lack of definite risk factors [20]; and two case reports each reported the development of seizure during a rTMS session in a patient with depression [19, 21]. Gómez et al. [22] reported that a 58-year-old stroke patient who attempted to use rTMS to rehabilitate left hemiparesis, developed a convulsive seizure during his first session of subthreshold. Dhuna et al. [23] found that one of 8 epilepsy patients receiving TMS developed a focal epileptic seizure induced by TMS.
Electromagnetic waves are associated with sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP)
SUDEP is not an unusual phenomenon among patients with epilepsy. In one study, rats were first exposed to 500, 50, 10–40 nT or sham (less than 10 nT) experimental magnetic fields for 6?min each hour from midnight to 8:00?am for three successive nights and then injected with pilocarpine to induce epileptic seizures. The rats suffered a mortality rate of 60% within 24?h following the injection of lithium and pilocarpine, in contrast to the mortality of 10% in the control group [24]. These results indicate that a variety of geomagnetic activity markedly elevates the mortality of kindled rats and that the electromagnetic stimulation is related to SUDEP in epilepsy. Previous studies found that most SUDEP occurred in young patients or in bedrooms, so we hypothesize that an abrupt global geomagnetic field change at night may be associated with the increased occurrence of SUDEP in epilepsy
Its ironic but EM radiation can also be used to treat epilepsy. All depends on the frequency i guess.
https://aepi.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s42494-020-00019-9
This in two parts. First is a hypothesis from the 1990s that believed that SIDS was connected to EMF (electromagnetic fields). Second is a recent study that indicates seizure activity in toddlers before SUDC (SIDS for children). Consider for a moment a sleeping infant or toddler in an EV. The constant EMF exposure could potentially lead to seizure and death while the child is asleep in their carseat. I just added a study indicating that 3% of SIDS occurs in a sitting device with 63% of those being in a carseat and 51% of those in the home. Id watch for an increase in SIDS/SUDC in relation to EV exposure. If such an infant with a functional disturbance of the control organ is then exposed to a GMF or EMF with pulsations similar to his own breathing frequency, but inverted in phase, value, form etc then the vital nerve impulses from the respiration control organ to the breathing organs may be disturbed or blocked with fatal effect. The study findings come from a registry of more than 300 SUDC cases, set up a decade ago by researchers at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. Researchers used extensive medical record analysis and video evidence donated by families to document the inexplicable deaths of seven toddlers between the ages of 1 and 3 that were potentially attributable to seizures. These seizures lasted less than 60 seconds and occurred within 30 minutes immediately prior to each child’s death, say the study authors. Of deaths in sitting devices, 62.9% were in CSSs, and in these cases, the CSS was used as directed in <10%. Among all sitting-device deaths, 81.9% had =1 risk factor, and 54.9% had =2 risk factors. More than half (51.6%) of deaths in CSSs were at the child’s home.
Magnetic influences on fetus and infant as reason for sudden infant death syndrome: a new testable hypothesis
Combining the hypthesis with the study suggest that the EMF exposure is causing seizures in the infants and children before they die in their sleep. Not just any EMF exposure but potentially the right frequencies that then interfere with nerve impulses. If frequency is a major player here then that means each individual would likely be susceptible to different frequencies making it harder to define which EM frequencies cause the most problems for the overall population. Blanket studies may not work when trying to better understand why EMF seems to cause problems for some and not others.
CSS = Car safety seats. This suggests mosts of the deaths occurred in the home and not in the car. Itd be interesting if these statistics shift more toward the vehicle in EVs/hybrids.

Ear pain/Pressure help
We have had our model Y since June. Had a number of issues that have been fixed including misaligned trim, the back seat noise, loose amplifier, and a rock chip. One weird thing that the SC couldn't help with is ear pain my wife and I both have when in the car. Nobody there could experience it. I have a 3 and had an S before with no issues.
Our data indicate that tinnitus is associated with subjective electromagnetic hypersensitivity. An individual vulnerability probably due to an over activated cortical distress network seems to be responsible for, both, electromagnetic hypersensitivity and tinnitus. Hence, therapeutic efforts should focus on treatment strategies (e.g. cognitive behavioral therapy) aiming at normalizing this dysfunctional distress network.
Precautionary Measures: For individuals still concerned about EMFs and RF radiation from EVs, here are a few precautionary measures to consider.
Limit Time in Stationary Cars: Reduce the amount of time spent in the car when it is not moving.
Ensure Proper Ventilation: Keep the car well-ventilated to help mitigate any potential, albeit minimal, exposure to EMFs and RF radiation.
These steps can help alleviate concerns, even though the levels of radiation emitted by EVs are generally considered safe by current scientific standards.

The chronic failures, many in relatively new vehicles, date back at least seven years and stretch across Tesla’s model lineup and across the globe, from China to the United States to Europe, according to the records and interviews with more than 20 customers and nine former Tesla managers or service technicians.
This should be good for Tesla?
How low could LFP costs go?
There are countless ways cost reduction can be achieved within gigafactories, ranging from procurement, cell design and local price reductions. Here we explore 3 of them: a reduction in cathode active material (CAM) price due to LFP oversupply, halving of electricity/gas pricing due to local subsidies, and halving the workers required via increased factory optimisation.
Procuring cost-effective CAM is critical to reducing the cost of the cell. In the base case LFP CAM price is $8.5/kg, reducing to $6.2/kg in the optimised case, resulting in savings of almost $5/kWh. Short-term savings to this extent are feasible due to the oversupply of Chinese LFP which suppliers have been attempting to offload at severely discounted prices.
Tesla crashes into EV charging station in Alton
No injuries in Tesla rollover crash at Alton's Argosy Casin
Preliminary investigation revealed a Tesla Model S was traveling at a high rate of speed and struck the electric vehicle charging station causing significant damage to said vehicle and the charging station. No injuries were reported.
The driver was cited for reckless driving, improper lane usage, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

Tesla suffers SUA and drives into a parking garage wall.

Jain is one of tens of thousands of Tesla owners who have experienced premature failures of suspension or steering parts, according to a Reuters review of thousands of Tesla documents. Not interested in your opinion. Elon is a class a Liar and con man. He already proved that many times already. This is not a question of if he lies, it is a question of how many lies he told how many shareholders lost money because of his deliberate false information he put out there to pump the stock, take the profits and leave the many investors shafted. The list is long and the honest people know what I am talking about. I don't need to listen to Lemmings, Parrots, and people with absolutely no common sense when it comes to living their whole existence based on what BS Elon feeds them next.
Does anyone know if Berlin Gigafactory is back manufacturing? How many days lost so far to demonstrators?
The price is WAY too high. Inverse ETF on watch.
More Information Emerges About Saturday’s Car Crash That Killed 3, Critically Injured 3
The tragic incident unfolded at approximately 2:38 a.m. when a Tesla Model 3 veered off the road and slammed into an unoccupied building in the 2300 block of Foothill Boulevard at Vista Ave., according to Pasadena Police Lt. Anthony Russo.
The Tesla, carrying six occupants westbound, was traveling at least double the speed limit when the driver ran a red light and lost control, police told told local tv news.
In an interview with local news outlet Dahe Daily, the 55-year-old driver, Zhan, who said he was a former truck driver, said he tried pressing the brake pedal and the emergency parking brake button, but with no effect
Tesla China denied the family member’s claims, noting that data from the ill-fated Model Y showed that the accelerator pedal was depressed deeply during the incident. Tesla stated that the Park button was indeed pressed during the vehicle’s final drive four times, but only briefly. Previous tests from Tesla owners indicated that pressing Park for an extended period of time while the vehicle is in motion would stop the car
New information received by the NHTSA shows that sudden unintended acceleration events with Tesla EVs were real and not driver errors. The report explains in detail what caused the cars to accelerate even when the accelerator pedal was not pressed.
What's worse is that the incorrectly increased sensor signals will be sent via the CAN bus to the vehicle logs, causing Tesla and NHTSA to conclude that the driver caused the sudden increase in torque by stepping on the accelerator pedal. But in this case, the sudden acceleration was caused not by the driver stepping on the accelerator pedal but by a random superposition of a negative-going voltage spike (which is about 100 microseconds long), and the sampling time of the analog-to-digital converter (which is about 10 microseconds long). This random superposition explains the low occurrence rate of sudden acceleration in Tesla vehicles

UTA service delayed after TRAX train gets derailed in West Valley City
WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — A Utah Transit Authority TRAX train was derailed Sunday afternoon in West Valley City, causing disruptions along the Green Line.
According to UTA spokesman Carl Arky, the train car that went off the rails was the last in a group of four, heading south. The first three had no issues, but the fourth somehow got derailed and then hit a power pole. There were passengers in the front three cars, but none in the fourth. Nobody was injured.

in my humble opinion, there is reason for EVERY ONE of Elon’s recent decisions.
1 He called our Reuterz even though he knew that there was some basis for the story
2. The story was incomplete. What happened was that some of the attendees DID speak to Reuters and told them yhat Tesla was going to focus on the Robotaxi. We knew already that the ONLY reason he went along with simultaneous development was that Franz convinced him that it was basically the same car. Perhaps they hit a point in the design process where priorities had to be assigned, and Elon made the choice, that he knows is right: robotaxi first. you may well wonder why he does not want a cheaper Tesla. My answer is: i trust Elon’s gut much more than yours.
3. of you do not see the obvious impact on supercharging, I cannot help you. BUT what if he got surprisingly strong pushback from the entire team? You and U may have teacted a
little differemtly than Elom; but, hey, he is entitled to make the decision he did; the worst consequence is that some of the laid off people will be hard to bring back, and some of thsm wiuld not go back. BUT just remember thatthrgraveyards are full of indispensable people.
Folks, I know that was a long post. bowever, every word in it was crefully thought out, you can agree with my point if view or not. Frankly, I couldn’t care less. However, let me make myne thing abundantly clear. if you wsnt me to tespond, your child mment needs the be well thought out and well presented.

George Orwell's 1984 comes to real-life after a building collapses in Russia. Russia accuses Ukraine of attacking this one part of residential buildings in the area, which is a stretch in of itself, and Ukraine denies. Meanwhile the greater public is left in confusion about what really happened. This is one basic concept from Orwells 1984 in action. I think its surprising they havent adapted 1984 into a TV series but it could clue people in that some of what happens in the whole Russia vs Ukraine war is propaganda to distract from abnormal events like this. The Russian Ministry of Defense accuses Ukraine of a “terrorist attack” in Belgorod, while the Ukrainian Center for Countering Disinformation suggests an internal explosion. In its statement, the Russian Ministry of Defense said that the “Kyiv regime” carried out a “terrorist attack” on the residential quarters of Belgorod around 11:40. According to the report, the Ukrainian troops allegedly used the Tochka-U tactical missile system, the Vilha multiple-launch rocket systems, and the RM-70 Vampire for this purpose. However, videos posted on social media showcased that the building was not hit by debris, shells, or rockets. An explosion can be seen from the inside on the first floor or in the basement. Jain is one of tens of thousands of Tesla owners who have experienced premature failures of suspension or steering parts, according to a Reuters review of thousands of Tesla documents. The chronic failures, many in relatively new vehicles, date back at least seven years and stretch across Tesla’s model lineup and across the globe, from China to the United States to Europe, according to the records and interviews with more than 20 customers and nine former Tesla managers or service technicians.
Given this building seemingly collapsed on its own and was not attacked by Ukraine, im going to suggest that what happened was a result of Hutchison Effect in action. As far as any explosions, Hutchison Effect/EM radiation could have caused gas pipelines to burst, transformer in the basement to explode, or simply cause the building's metal structure to weaken enough to collapse and the collapse itself caused the explosions people heard. What gives further credence to the idea the Hutchison Effect was involved here was the fact that there was a major geomagnetic storm that occurred starting Friday. I said before it hit to keep an eye out for various things like building collapses and out of control Teslas.
As best as i can figure, natural EM radiation possibly combining with man-made sources leads to the Hutchison Effect in Metals. This can cause metal to bend without heat, burst, fracture, completely break, rust, and even turn to dust. The exact mechanism that are involved is not known in public circles as the information is classified. The only reason we (the public) know anything about it is John Hutchison whom the effect is named after.
The Hutchison Effect is why Teslas and other EVs experience enhanced corrosion issues leading to increased rusting of the underbelly and spontaneous fracturing of suspension components. Tesla's are well known for this problem including the phenomenon called Whompy Wheel. There is a ceramic coating placed on the underbelly of EVs and ICE vehicles to help prevent these types of things, however the coating seems to wear quickly. As the earths magnetic field weakens we will see more of the Hutchison Effect and so ceramics will become more and more important. In fact there is a company in California working on Ceramic dome buildings which supposedly will last 500 years. This will be important.
Another phenomena of the Hutchison Effect, the melding of dissimilar materials like what occurred on 911. It does send a message but not what the title suggests. Instead it sends a message that 9/11 was an inside job so the US could leave the 1972 Anti-Ballisitic Treaty (this is fact, December 13th, 2001 Bush sent a letter to Putin stating that 911 was the reason it was leaving the treaty). Hot steel would have burned the bible but via the Hutchison Effect the bible was able to displace the steel to become one with it.

Hutchison Effect & Teslas Whompy Wheel issue
https://www.reuters.com/investigates/special-report/tesla-musk-steering-suspension/
The exact cause of the Hutchison Effect is unknown in public spheres as it is classified under national security. However the most likely culprit seems to be a combination of electromagnetic sources coming together in a way to change the makeup of metals leading to their rusting, softening, fracturing, complete breaking, even dustification. Keep in mind the degree of metal materials that are within our buildings and infrastructure...even in concrete. Maybe this is why we are seeing an increase in building and bridge collapses?

Nikola Tesla was born in 1856 in Smiljan, Croatia, then part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. His father was a priest in the Serbian Orthodox church
and his mother managed the family’s farm. In 1863 Tesla’s brother Daniel was killed in a riding accident.
The shock of the loss unsettled the 7-year-old Tesla, who reported seeing visions—the first signs of his lifelong mental illnesses.

$TSLA, Exclusive: Bill Ford at Mustang Mach-E unveil admits being on Tesla’s turf
Bradley Berman
- Nov. 17th 2019 10:44 pm ET
Minutes after the official unveiling of the Ford Mustang Mach-E,
we jumped into the press scrum surrounding Bill Ford. Electrek asked Ford’s chairman, and Henry Ford’s great-grandson,
if he knew the introduction was taking place one block from Tesla’s design center.
“That’s a coincidence,” he said. And then he flashed a big smile.
Tesla Motors, Inc. (Tesla), incorporated on July 1, 2003, designs, develops, manufactures and sells electric vehicles and advanced electric vehicle powertrain components. Tesla owns its sales and service centers and Supercharger stations. In addition to the Company’s own vehicles, it designs, develops, manufactures, and sells advanced electric vehicle powertrain components to other automotive manufacturers. The Company has provided development services and powertrain components to Daimler AG (Daimler) for its Smart fortwo and A-Class electric vehicles. The Company developed stationary energy storage products for use in homes, commercial sites, and utilities. The Company offers financial products through various financial institutions in the United States, Europe, and Asia.
Tesla Motors was founded in 2003 by a group of engineers in Silicon Valley who wanted to prove that electric cars could be better than gasoline-powered cars. With instant torque, incredible power, and zero emissions, Tesla’s products would be cars without compromise. Each new generation would be increasingly affordable, helping the company work towards its mission: to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable transport.
Tesla’s engineers first designed a powertrain for a sports car built around an AC induction motor, patented in 1888 by Nikola Tesla, the inventor who inspired the company’s name. The resulting Tesla Roadster was launched in 2008. Accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds and achieving a range of 245 miles per charge of its lithium ion battery, the Roadster set a new standard for electric mobility. Tesla would sell more than 2,400 Roadsters, now on the road in more than 30 countries.
In 2012, Tesla launched Model S, the world’s first premium electric sedan. Built from the ground up to be 100 percent electric, Model S has redefined the very concept of a four-door car. With room for seven passengers and more than 64 cubic feet of storage, Model S provides the comfort and utility of a family sedan while achieving the acceleration of a sports car: 0 to 60 mph in about five seconds. Its flat battery pack is integrated into the chassis and sits below the occupant cabin, lending the car a low center of gravity that enables outstanding road holding and handling while driving 265 miles per charge. Model S was named Motor Trend’s 2013 Car of the Year and achieved a 5-star safety rating from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
In late 2014, Tesla CEO Elon Musk unveiled two dual motor all-wheel drive configurations of Model S that further improve the vehicle’s handling and performance. The 85D features a high efficiency motor at the front and rear, giving the car unparalleled control of traction in all conditions. The P85D pairs a high efficiency front motor with a performance rear motor for supercar acceleration, achieving a 0 to 60 mph time of 3.2 seconds – the fastest four-door production car ever made.
Now with more than 50,000 vehicles on the road worldwide, Tesla is preparing to launch Model X, a crossover vehicle that enters volume production in 2015. Featuring exhilarating acceleration, falcon wing doors, and room for three rows of seating, Model X defies categorization.
Tesla owners enjoy the benefit of charging at home so they never have to visit a gas station or spend a cent on gasoline. For long distance journeys, Tesla’s Supercharger network provides convenient and free access to high speed charging, replenishing half a charge in as little as 20 minutes. Superchargers now connect popular routes in North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific.
Tesla’s vehicles are produced at its factory in Fremont, California, previously home to New United Motor Manufacturing Inc., a joint venture between Toyota and General Motors. The Tesla Factory has returned thousands of jobs to the area and is capable of producing 1,000 cars a week.
The company is expanding its manufacturing footprint into other areas, including in Tilburg, the Netherlands, where it has an assembly facility, and Lathrop, California, where it has a specialized production plant. To reduce the costs of lithium ion battery packs, Tesla and key strategic partners including Panasonic have begun construction of a gigafactory in Nevada that will facilitate the production of a mass-market affordable vehicle, Model 3. By 2020, the gigafactory will produce more lithium ion cells than all of the world’s combined output in 2013. The gigafactory will also produce battery packs intended for use in stationary storage, helping to improve robustness of the electrical grid, reduce energy costs for businesses and residences, and provide a backup supply of power.
Tesla is not just an automaker, but also a technology and design company with a focus on energy innovation.
The Tesla Roadster is an electric sports car. The Company sells and services its Tesla Roadster though its Company-owned sales and service network in the North America, Europe and Asia. It has delivered approximately 2,500 Tesla Roadsters to customers in over 30 countries. It completed the production of Tesla Roadster gliders at Lotus Cars Limited in January 2012.
Model S is a four door, five-passenger premium sedan. It has designed Model S to include a third row with two rear-facing child seats, subject to applicable safety regulations and requirements, allowing the Company to offer a seven passenger sedan.
The Company revealed an early prototype of the Model X crossover as the first vehicle that it intends to develop by leveraging the Model S platform. This vehicle has been designed to fill the niche between the roominess of a minivan and the style of an SUV, while having high performance features, such as a dual motor all-wheel drive system. Model X will seat seven adults. The Company anticipates that it would make Model X available with 60 kWh and 85 kWh battery pack options, with pricing of each version similar to those of a comparably equipped Model S.
The Company also has announced its intent to develop a third generation electric vehicle, to which it refers as Gen III, to be produced at the Tesla Factory.
In addition to the Company’s own vehicles, it designs, develops, manufactures, and sells advanced electric vehicle powertrain components to other automotive manufacturers. The Company has provided development services and full powertrain systems and components to Daimler AG for its Smart fortwo, A-Class, and B-Class electric vehicles. It has also developed an electric powertrain system for Toyota Motor Corporation for use in its RAV4 EV. As of December 31, 2013 the Company shipped approximately 1,600 units.
In 2013, the Company developed stationary energy storage products for use in homes, commercial sites, and utilities. The applications for these battery systems include backup power, peak demand reduction, demand response and wholesale electric market services. The Company intends to ramp sales of these products in 2014. In 2015, Tesla introduced the Powrball: Tesla Home Battery. Powerwall is a home battery that charges using electricity generated from solar panels, or when utility rates are low, and powers your home in the evening. It also fortifies your home against power outages by providing a backup electricity supply. Automated, compact and simple to install, Powerwall offers independence from the utility grid and the security of an emergency backup. Powerball comes in 10kWh weekly cycle and 7kWh daily cycle models. Both are guaranteed for ten years and are sufficient to power most homes during peak evening hours. Multiple batteries may be installed together for homes with greater energy need, up to 90 kWh total for the 10 kWh battery and 63 kWh total for the 7 kWh battery.
The Company offers financial products through various financial institutions in the United States, Europe, and Asia. In the United States and Canada, it offers customer loans through specified commercial banking partners. In connection with certain of these loans, the Company offers a resale value guarantee to all customers who purchased a Model S and financed their vehicle.
