That is great luck cintrix! Be sure you back up everything before you shut down again. I always recommend the two week free trial from Carbonite. btw your daughter would not have her problem if her data was stored there. She could access it from any computer. I use it and like it.

Congrats!

I have done the same thing when desperate that is trying unusual remedies and I find that sometimes for no reason at all they work. My TOSHIBA was fine for about three years and then I got BSOD constantly and could never figure out why. I tried everything but it was so random that nothing ever seemed to fix it permanently. Then all of a sudden I tried an AVG suite I got online and I never got an BSOD again for well over a year.

Suddenly last weekend after spending a lot of time on kijiji looking for a used bike, I got one! Hasn't happened again since.

My brand new ASUS randomly shut down every week and then every month when I got it as a birthday gift in JAN. Now for no good reaon that I know of it has not shut down in two months. Best Buy sent it to ASUS twice and then basically told me you are on your own. Contacting ASUS was no better.

As far as I am concerned all these computer companies are the same. They hope their computers will work most of the time at least during the warranty. If not they will basically wear you down till you give up or you make such a fuss that they will on occasion do something.

ASUS TOSHIBA or ACER there ain't no stinkin difference. I got an ACER Chromebook to travel this winter and I love it! Yet a lot of people have told me that ACER sucked and that ASUS was awesome. At work we had an i7 HP and it was a piece of junk!

IMO just luck of the draw.
