look at some of the posts where bloodwork has come back. the decrease is trigs is big. but, it would be good for someone to close the loop once and for all on the placebo controlled v baseline argument.

in terms of hdl, yes it went down a bit, but ldl and non hdl went down a lot more, which means ratio of hdl/total cholesterol actually went up...

It's a 4% decrease compared to placebo which is considered not significant, if the other baselines were only 4% improvement the drug would never have passed, in other words it's such a small change that
1) The effects are negligible
2) A larger sample may show no change or slightly more or less that at 4% you can't say Vascepa lowers HDL but total cholesterol less good cholesterol of 18%

Also most of the numbers outside of adjustments from the Placebo were good decreases but studies are designed to compare against Placebos, that's common so they way they report the data is common, the results are good, the results will easily pass muster.

Anchor will be approved, the science is good, the benefit is proven.

The arguments from MSG on SA are poor from a scientific point of view.

In the MARINE trial, HDL results were not significant, the 2g dose raised HDL and the 4g dose lowered HDL a small %.

Since Vascepa DECREASES HDL, it is just making a bad thing worse.

Dear jtf3...FYI...

The idea that High HDL-C is a good thing is not as tight as it use to be. The fibrates and niacin raised HDL-C and look where that went...It's all in the particle numbers..Congenital hyper cholesterolemias can and do have large fluffy particles and they still are high risk.

Also you might want to check the results of JELIS, an EPA study..In the cohort with high trigs and low HDL-C there was the highest improvement in CVD events, >50% in using a product which is pretty much identical to Vascepa...To repeat a 50% improvement using pure EPA in the group with low HDL...

Think about that..
