Reasonable or rational thinking are out the window because the top decision makers are aloof, stubborn, and egotistical. Besides that, yes...the FDIC and JP MOrgan Chase could finish this in a few phone calls.

Recent legal developments make the point that there are NO moral, ethical or legal grounds available for either the FDIC or JP Morgan Chase, imo.

Therefore, I conclude they are not only wrong but also are spending tax payer money defending a bank robbery in broad day light.

These two institutions of American politics must pay the consequences. The outcome is beyond the personalities and must reflect a collective desire among the courts, stock holders, citizens, the SEC, the Department of Justice, and the culprits themselves to make amends.

Quote ( I would simply suggest JPM to work with FDIC and settle this case once for all with a 1:1 common swap. Pref are made full. Now its only a suggestion :) }

A very big suggestion in deed. Hey if your going to dream, then dream for the stars.
JPM has been slipping under the $40 mark of late. If your right then maybe we all should not be so happy when JPM has been taking beatings in court and other areas.

kaliaphantom: Nice! Option D, or some variation of it, is likely -and, imo - where this is headed. However, if this is where it's headed, things could drag out for quite some time (40M/mo interest for JPMC, while it seems a fortune to the likes of me, is probably closer to chump change for the jpigs). Only thing JPMC and FDIC get (other than all the unjust enrichment from the fire sale of WaMu banking arm and other cherry-picked assets) from option D is their releases - and this is only valuable to them if there is real, PROVABLE deep-down grimy dirt that the HFs would unleash, like the Furies, in vengeance for being thrown under the bus and having had to ponder the possibility of jail time by their collusive buddies' pretention to clean hands.

Kaliaphantom: Other option, of course, is S/G getting sick of all the "horseplay" (pun intended) settlement tiddliwink-hopscotching and moving to take this whole thing to trial.

While I'd love for all this to be over sooner than later with my money secured (though justice perverted), I secretly "long" (pun intended again!) for a move to trial, leaving Judge Mary's court and engaging DC court and Judge Colleyer (spell?).

Granted, I don't want to have to wait forever -- but on the other hand, it's the only place where all the dirty laundry would have a chance of being aired, where the scales of justice would be brought in to weigh and measure, and the media blackout would likely have to now bring some lights to shed on the circus.

It's a head-scratcher, to be sure -- as we'd likely see the spectre of Rico and a plethora of other ghouls and ghosties rattling their chains in all their mournful pacing and wailing, but the time involved, and the expense to the EC would be no insignificant factor.
